Clone A Sim Card

SIM card

Create an exact duplicate of an existing SIM card.

Instructions

1. First you'll need the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identifier) number. This string of numbers is usually imprinted on the SIM card itself. This is an example of an IMSI number:

IMSI:429011234567890

An IMSI is usually 15 digits long, but can be one or two digits shorter.

2. Now you have your IMSI number you'll need the authentication key (Ki), which is unique to your SIM. This number can only be discovered electronically using a SIM duplicator, which is an external device that you will slot the SIM card into.

A SIM duplicator is relatively inexpensive - they can be found at around the $10 mark - and can be purchased at multiple locations. A Google search for 'Super SIM' will turn up at least several online outlets.

3. When the SIM duplicator is connected to your PC and your SIM card, it will attempt to acquire the Ki number and copy the entire contents. When a new SIM card is placed into the duplicator after this process is complete, that data will be copied and, for all intents and purposes, the new SIM will be identical to the old.

Jailbreak A Nokia Phone

Providers originally locked cellphones in order to prevent their customers from using their cellphone with a rival carrier. In 2010 the Library of Congress decided to allow the unlocking -- or "jailbreaking" -- of any cellphone in the United States. This means that you aren't stuck with one carrier if you're using a certain phone, but rather you can take that phone with you to any carrier provided that you unlock it first. Unlike with some devices, you can jailbreak your Nokia phone without voiding its warranty.

Instructions

1. Get the IMEI number of your Nokia phone. To do this, key "*#06#" into your phone. Write down the 15 digit number that appears; this is your IMEI number.

2. Call your service provider and request an unlock code for your cellphone. If you're unable to reach them, or if they won't give you a code, you need to get an unlock code from an unlocking website, such as Unlocking4Free.com, CellUnlockCode.com, or GSMLiberty.net.

3. Turn off your phone. Remove the back cover. Remove the SIM card. Depending on your type of phone, you will either need to push down on the SIM card until it releases, or simply pull it out.

4. Turn on your Nokia cell without the SIM card. Ignore the warning message that displays.

5. Key in " #pw+code+1#" without the quote marks. For "code," substitute the unlock code provided to you. A message telling you that the SIM restriction is off will appear if you've done it correctly. If not, try typing in the code again.

Block A Phone Number On Tmobile

It's possible to disguise your phone number or identity when you make a call.

If you own a T-Mobile cell phone and need to disguise your phone number or identity when you make a call, you want to do what's referred to as blocking a phone number. When you block a phone number on T-Mobile, your call will go through as it normally does except instead of displaying your T-Mobile number on the call receiver's caller ID, the display reads Restricted.

Instructions

1. Call the T-Mobile customer service phone number located on your phone bill. Tell them you would like to hear about T-Mobile's call blocking service. The customer service then tells you how you can block all the calls coming from your T-Mobile cell phone by adding this service to your plan. When you select this service, anytime you dial a number from your T-Mobile cell phone, the number will come up Restricted on the call receiver's caller ID.

2. Dial *67 prior to any number on your T-Mobile phone that you want to block, if you want to just block one call at a time and choose which numbers you dial are blocked. This is another way you can call someone and have it appear as a Restricted call on the other end.

3. Program your T-Mobile phone to block all calls to any one individual. Do this by tapping Add a Contact on your T-Mobile phone. Type in the name of the person you want to call. Then tap Add Phone Number. Punch in *67 then the number.

4. Tap the person's name to call him, when you have the person's number programmed into your phone with the *67 first. Every time you tap the person's name, you will be calling him from a blocked number.

Convert Nero Digital To Avi

When you encode a DVD or convert files within Nero Software, the default file type is known as Nero Digital. If you want to convert to another file type like AVI, the process is easily done within the Nero software. Along with the basic conversion, you can add extras like titles, transitions and extra audio tracks. The conversion process is easy and simply requires a little pointing and clicking to create a high-quality AVI video.

Instructions

3. Trim parts of the video in the "Preview Monitor" by clicking on the "Scissors" icon. Drag the start of the video to the point you want to start at and drag the end of the video to the end point.

4. Record voice-overs for the clips by clicking on the "Microphone" icon. You can also import music and drag it to the "Audio 1" section of the timeline.

How Has Technology Of Cell Phones Improved Since 1985

Cell phones have become much smaller over time.

Cell phones are now a common method of communicating, as they allow callers to keep in touch with family and friends from anywhere. Technology has improved vastly since 1985, and cell phones have changed greatly.

Size

In 1985, cell phones were much bigger and bulkier, and they more closely resembled home phones. Current cell phones are much sleeker and are designed to fit in a pocket.

Designs

Cell phones from 1985 were all very similar in design, with a long body, an antenna, and buttons in the center. In 2010, cell phones come in many styles and form factors, such as flip phones, bar phones, and sliders.

Data

Modern cell phones can transfer data as well as voice. While 1985's cell phones could only make and receive calls, 2010's phones can deliver text, picture, and video messages as well.

Digital

Cell phones in 1985 used analog technology to make calls, which resulted in worse call quality and more excess static than what is experienced with 2010's digital cell phones.

Entertainment

Cell phones in 1985 performed only the functions of a telephone, and they were only used as telephones. In 2010, cell phones can record and play video, serve as a music player, and browse the Internet.

This will enable you to listen and edit the song on your computer. You will only want a 15 second snippet of the song so choose the appropriate section. Change the settings of the song to be 8000 Hz,16 bit sample, and mono .

2. Export the song section as a mp3 file. You will have to download a LAME software program that will encode the song in the mp3 format so it can be exported. You can find the download here: http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/, if you don't have it. When you export the file make sure you remember where you file it.

3. Open your email program and send your cell phone a message. The address is usually your cellphone number (no dashes)@vzpix.com, for Verizon, or @mms.att.net for AT&T, @messaging.sprintpcs.com for Sprint, and @tmomail.net for T-Mobile. Use the attachment option and attach the mp3 file you just filed. Click send to send it to your cell phone.

4. Open the message on your cell phone when it rings and save it as a ringtone. Now you can listen to your own song section as a ringtone that no one else has on their phone.

What Does It Mean To Incorporate

When a business incorporates, it becomes a its own legal entity, apart from the individuals who founded the company. For-profit businesses are usually the ones to adopt incorporation for business reasons, but non-profits are also eligible to become this type of legal entity. By incorporating, the organization's leader or entrepreneur creates a separate legal entity in the eyes of the law to conduct business. This new entity--the corporation--changes the way the business is viewed in the eyes of the law and the way the business can be run.

Incorporation Means Lower Taxation

After incorporation, the individual no longer conducts business, generates income or creates tax liabilities; the new corporation does. Since corporations generally have lower tax rates than individuals, this can be a significant benefit.

Incorporation Limits Liability

Incorporation means you personally aren't legally conducting business anymore; rather, the corporation is. Since the corporation is the one involved in business transactions, your liability as a businessman and corporation is legally limited.

Incorporation Allows Stock Offerings

By incorporating, you are creating a corporation, shares of which can be issued, bought or sold.

Incorporation Creates Transferability

While a business run in the name of one or more founders may be difficult to transfer upon the founders' sale or death, corporations and all their included assets and liabilities are easily transferable.

Incorporation Changes or Creates a Business Name

After incorporation, all legal documents, like contracts and bank accounts and checks, must be in the name of the corporation. Thus, incorporation can change the name of an active business. All corporation names must end with "Incorporated," often abbreviated as "Inc."

Connect Bluetooth With A Mobile Phone

Most phones are compatible with a Bluetooth headset.

A Bluetooth headset makes hands-free calling possible, and most mobile phones are compatible with Bluetooth-enabled wireless devices. To use your phone with a Bluetooth headset, you'll need to connect the two using a "pairing" process. Pairing is a quick and easy setup process that allows your mobile phone and the headset to communicate without wires when they are within range. You'll only need to complete the steps once -- your phone will save the settings you enter.

Instructions

1. Disconnect your headset from its charging source. Do not turn on the headset.

2. Place the headset in pairing mode. This step will vary depending on the make and model of the headset you own. For many devices, pairing mode activates when you press and hold the "Call/Power" button for five to ten seconds. See your user guide for device-specific instructions.

3. Press your phone's "Menu" option and select "Settings." Place the two devices within 30 feet of each other.

4. Select "Bluetooth," and then choose "Add New" or "Search." Your phone will begin searching for in-range Bluetooth devices.

5. Select the name of your headset from the list of discovered devices. Enter the headset's pairing passkey if prompted. (The passkey is set by the manufacturer. Most use "0000" or "1234." See your user guide for details.)

6. Press "OK" to complete the pairing.

Replace An Axim X 30 Touch Screen

The Axim X30 was a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) device manufactured by Dell in 2003 and was the first model to include the Windows Mobile Second Edition operating system. The PDA features a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen and runs on a 320 MHz PXA270 processor. The TFT touchscreen is a delicate device that breaks easily when dropped. Replacing the TFT touchscreen means completely dismantling the device. Doing this yourself will void its service warranty.

Instructions

1. Turn off the Axim X30 device and place it face down. Use a thin, flat head screwdriver to pry the rubber screw covers from the back of the device. Remove the four Torx screws revealed by the screw covers.

2. Flip the Axim over and pry the front bezel off of the device with a flat head screwdriver. The bezel is the main plastic piece on the front side of the PDA. Flip the device over and remove the back housing to reveal the main circuit board.

3. Locate the black, plastic piece on the upper section of the circuit board. Remove its four retaining Phillips-head screws. Lift the black piece out of the phone to reveal the main hard drive and TFT video cable.

4. Unplug the multi-colored video cable from its connector on the circuit board. Flip the device over so the screen is facing upward. Lift the TFT touchscreen out of its compartment. Throw away the broken screen.

5. Reverse this procedure to install the new touchscreen.

Why Does My Bluetooth Pairing Fail

A passkey ensures a secure connection between Bluetooth-enabled devices.

A growing number of mobile phone users employ a Bluetooth headset to communicate hands-free. The use of a headset while driving is considered to be safer than holding the phone. When pairing a Bluetooth headset with a device, you may experience issues.

Compatibility

Although most Bluetooth-enabled devices are compatible, there is a chance that the devices you are attempting to pair are not. The easiest way to check compatibility is to review the list of compatible devices in the user guide for either your headset or mobile phone.

Incorrect Passkey

A passkey is a number that is assigned to a Bluetooth-enabled device. The passkey is necessary for one device to associate with another. Incorrectly entering the passkey for a Bluetooth device prevents a successful pairing. Check the passkey to ensure that you are entering the correct digits. By default, the passkey for many Bluetooth headsets is either "1234" or "0000."

Charging

Ensure the Bluetooth headset is fully charged before attempting to pair it with a device. Depending on your headset, the LED light may flash either red, blue or purple when it is fully charged. It may be necessary to charge the headset for at least two to three hours to ensure it is charged.

Use Skype To Talk Pc To Pc When The Other Person Uses Yahoo Messenger

Skype and Yahoo! Messenger both help you make and receive phone calls.

Skype and Yahoo! Messenger are quite similar in many ways. Both allow you to chat with friends who are online. However, they both go above and beyond that by also letting you make video and voice calls to other users. Furthermore, both allow you to place calls to cell phones and land lines -- but you must pay a fee to use this feature. Additionally, both Skype and Yahoo! Messenger give you a way to purchase a number that others can use to call your computer.

Skype and Yahoo! Messenger Compatibility

Despite the similarities between Skype and Yahoo! Messenger, the two are not compatible. You cannot add Yahoo! Messenger friends to your Skype contact list or vice versa. Similarly, you cannot place phone calls directly between Skype and Yahoo! Messenger, nor can you chat between the two systems. They do not overlap in any way, and if you wish to use them as instant messengers you must be on the same system as the person you wish to chat with.

Yahoo! Messenger to Skype

You can place calls from Yahoo! Messenger to a friend on Skype, but the process is more complicated than simply calling another Yahoo! Messenger friend. It also costs money on both parts. The Skype user must have a Skype "Online Number," which he must pay for. You can then use Yahoo! Messenger to place a call to this number. Because it is treated as a normal number, you must have funds available in your Yahoo! account as it will cost you money to call your friend.

Skype to Yahoo! Messenger

The process of calling Yahoo! Messenger from Skype is essentially the same as the reverse. The Yahoo! Messenger user must obtain a "Phone In" number for either a monthly or annual fee. The Skype user must have available credit (or a subscription) and an account in good standing. The Skype user can then place a call to the Yahoo! "Phone In" number as if it were any other land line or cell phone number.

Switching Programs

If you and the friend who you wish to call do not need to call each other regularly, and if you both already have the paid services required, you can use the methods outlined. If, however, you do speak regularly, you may wish to avoid the extra charges. In this case, it may be time for one of you to compromise. Even if you only sign onto the other program when you wish to call this particular person, it may be worth it if you speak often and end up saving a significant amount of money.

Take A Cell Phone Apart

Open up your wireless cell phone.

Cell phones are rather rugged, designed to sustain minor impacts. After all, the phones are constantly being tossed around and they travel more than most other electronic devices. However, you can still disassemble cell phones. This allows you to upgrade hardware on the device, or just to see the inner workings of your wireless device.

Instructions

1. Power down the cell phone, then remove the battery from the back of the phone. Take out any SIM cards or other memory sticks inside the phone. The SIM card is typically found behind the battery. Slide the card out of its housing slot to remove it. If your phone has an additional memory card, the slot is on the exterior of the phone (usually on the side). Open the cover to the memory card slot, then push the memory card in. This unlocks the memory card and ejects it from the card slot (it functions in a similar way to a 'clicky' pen).

2. Remove the small screws found on the back of the phone. If the Phillps screwdriver does not fit into the screws, use a Torx driver. These screws are often used by cell phones, but the exact size varies.

3. Slide off the cover of the phone once the screws are free. If you have a flip phone, remove the small screws at the bottom of the phone's screen (when the phone is open). This reveals the wire connection between the screen and the keyboard. Disconnect this and the two parts come free of each other.

4. Remove the screw found on the motherboard of the phone. This is the single computer board found in the middle. Once the screw is out, you can take out the motherboard.

5. Gently pull out the inside chamber where the battery is housed. Now that the motherboard is out, you have free access to it. Once you remove this chamber, the entire phone is open and taken apart.

Unlock The Samsung Omnia On Verizon

Unlock your Samsung Omnia and ditch the Verizon Wireless network.

The Samsung Omnia is a touch-screen phone originally released on the Verizon Wireless network. It has some cool and convenient features like Bluetooth connectivity, a 5 megapixel camera, downloadable games and a Windows Mobile operating system. If you're happy with the Omnia, but you'd prefer to switch networks, you'll need to unlock the phone. This will allow you to swap out your SIM card for a pre-paid or foreign SIM card belonging to another company. Essentially, you can use an alternative service provider without having to sign a contract.

Instructions

1. Get your Samsung Omnia's unique IMEI number by typing "*#06#" into the keypad.

2. Call Verizon Wireless tech support (see link in "Resources") and request an unlock code. Be prepared to give the representative your mobile number, email address and IMEI number.

3. Turn off your phone and remove its SIM card.

4. Insert your foreign or pre-paid SIM card into the phone and turn it back on. A lock symbol, or the word "NET," should show up on the screen when you turn it back on.

5. Select "OK" when the option appears. (The only other choice is "Dismiss." Make sure not to select this option.)

6. Enter the unlock code you received in a previous step when prompted. The numbers may not appear on the screen, but they are being typed in. When you finish entering the code, the phone should be unlocked.

Unlock Mobile Phones

Did you lock your cell phone by accident? Or are you trying to change cell phone carriers and keep the same phone? If you are trying to save money with a different cell phone provider, now you can keep your existing cell phone if you unlock your mobile phone. Follow these steps to unlock your cell phone.

Instructions

1. If you are trying to switch phone carriers, contact your new one and confirm that your existing phone is compatible with their network. If so, explain that you’d like to keep using your current phone and see if they can help. The customer service representative may be able to help you unlock your phone or point you to some good resources.

2. Contact your service provider and ask for an unlock code. Some will provide you with the unlock code, possibly for free if you are a long-time customer.

3. Search online for directions related for your specific model. For example, you could search for “unlock T-Mobile phone.” Some mobile phone carriers will allow you to get your unlock code online without having to contact them. Depending on your phone, you may be able to find out unlock it from a website by figuring out your unlock code.

4. If the above steps fail, you can search to buy software online or enlist the help of a service to unlock your cell phone.

Butterfly gardeners know that blue lupine attracts the lovely Karner blue butterfly. Not surprisingly, the blossoms themselves resemble small blue butterflies. Blue lupines are a member of the pea family. Does this Spark an idea?

The Plant Family Fabaceae

Karner butterfly.

Blue lupines are a part of the plant family fabaceae. These plants have flowers that resemble butterflies with two outer wing petals and two lower keel petals.

Perennial

Blue lupine is a perennial plant. It prefers full sun and grows well all through the eastern United States.

Appearance

Blue lupines grow to be up to 2 feet tall with up to 30 stems per plant. The flower raceme at the end of the stalk can be up to 10 inches long with many blue butterfly shaped flowers surrounding it.

Survival Characteristics

Blue lupines often appear in disturbed ecosystems such as those that have been cleared of vegetation by fire.

Planting Blue Lupine

Prepare blue lupine seeds by first freezing them for two weeks and then soaking them in hot--not boiling--water for about 12 hours or more. Plant shallowly after the last frost. Water frequently until two weeks after germination. Blue lupines tolerate poor soil so fertilization is usually not necessary.

Check Your Voicemail From Another Phone

If you accidentally leave your cellular phone at home, or your phone battery dies and you have no way to charge it, you could end up missing an important phone call. There is a way for you to check your voicemail from another phone, however, allowing you to keep track of your calls and reducing the change of you missing plans, job opportunities, or even emergency calls. If you have already set up a passcode for your phone's voicemail, you can easily check your voicemail from another phone by following the steps below:

Instructions

1. Find a touchtone landline or cellular phone. You can check your voicemail from any other type of phone, including Internet phone services like Skype, so which type of phone you choose is irrelevant. The only requirement is that the phone you use must be touchtone or (for example, with Skype) have touchtone capabilities. Rotary phones will not work.

2. Dial your cell phone number from another phone.

3. Allow the phone to ring and listen for the voicemail prompt. As soon as your voicemail message begins playing, press the asterisk (*) key. You can press the asterisk key at any time during the voicemail message, but once the message finishes and you hear the tone indicating that you should leave a message, you have waited too long. If this happens, hang up and try again.

Note: For some cell phone services, it is the pound (#) key that allows you to check your voicemail from another phone. If, when hitting the asterisk key, you skip the voicemail message entirely and are prompt to leave a message instead of entering your voicemail system, hang up and try again using the pound key to check your voicemail, instead.

4. Enter your 4-digit voicemail passcode. You created this passcode when you initially set up your voicemail. When finished, press the pound (#) key.

Note: Some cell phone services allow 6-digit or 8-digit passcodes instead of 4-digit passcodes. If this is the case, you will need to enter your entire 6- or 8-digit passcode to check your voicemail from another phone.

5. Check your voicemail as you normally would from your cell phone. The key commands you use to navigate your voicemail on your cell phone are the same commands you use to navigate your voicemail from another phone. You can play and delete messages, set up a new voicemail greeting, and suspend voicemail activity once you have access your mailbox.

What Is Psh Used For On A Network Packet

A data packet header contains a series of zeroes and one, and one digit indicates the PSH flag.

Data travels around networks in packets. A packet carries a segment of data in the packet body and contains a header at the front for addressing, for describing the data and for sending control information about the connection. A packet can contain several headers; one contains a "push flag." In protocol specifications, this flag is always referred to as PSH.

Transmission Control Protocol

One of the protocols involved in moving data around networks is called the Transmission Control Protocol, or TCP. This protocol is responsible for establishing a connection and checking that data packets have arrived in sequence. Some TCP instructions travel in front of data packets, and some travel in a packet that has no data but is intended for instruction. The receiving TCP program usually stores the arriving packets temporarily before sending it to the receiving application. This particularly happens if packets arrive out of sequence. The PSH flag's purpose is to instruct the receiver about buffering.

TCP Header

A TCP header contains 20 bytes of data plus two more bytes for options and padding. The PSH flag is one of six control flags occupying the last six bits of the 14th byte; a byte contains four bits. The flags are TCP's language, enabling the two sides in the transfer to establish a connection and inform each other of their status and the actions each wants the other to perform. Each flag occupies one bit of data. If that bit is set to "1," the flag is active.

Purpose

The PSH flag is an instructor from the sender to the receiver to end buffering. This can have two purposes. It is principally designed for the sender to tell the receiver that the last bit of data is contained in the packet and that the receiver should now empty its buffer and pass all data on. As a computer receiving a PSH packet stops buffering, setting the PSH flag also has the effect of turning buffering off for that packet. Buffering occurs at the points of the packets journey across the network, not just at the receiver. This means that a PSH packet travels faster, as it isn't buffered at any point.

Danger

Hackers can use the PSH flag to prevent a data packet being examined. Firewalls buffer data packets slightly to examine them and perform security functions. If the PSH packet is set, any programs turn off buffering and pass on the packet immediately, which robs the firewall of time to examine the packet.

Replace A Nokia 5300 Screen

Replace a Nokia 5300 Screen

The 5300 is a Nokia brand new cell phone. In addition to being a phone that can send and receive calls, the 5300 also has a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera and a music player with a 2GB MicroSD card. One thing that is a concern for most people is the fragile nature of the phone's LCD screen. Phones can be dropped or damaged very easily which can cause the LCD screen to crack. If this happens, the process for replacing the Nokia 5300's screen is actually quite simple.

Instructions

1. Remove the back panel of the phone and take out the battery. Don't remove the Sim card from the phone, just the battery.

2. Slide a flat thin object along the edge of the front cover of the phone to remove the faceplate. It's held on by small plastic clips, so you may have to push these in to remove the faceplate.

3. Remove the four screws that hold on the metal cover resting on top of the phone's LCD screen. There's one screw at each corner of the metal cover. Pull the metal piece off and carefully set it aside.

4. Remove the phone's LCD screen. To do this, locate the film-like ribbon that leads away from the screen and connects to the top of the phone. Lift up on the small plastic tab that holds down the ribbon. Once the tab is released, the LCD screen can be removed.

5. Place the new LCD screen in the exact spot where you removed the old one in Step 4. The new screen will have its own gold ribbon. Place the end of the ribbon inside the plastic tab and press down on it so that it holds the LCD connection in place. Once reassembled, the components that you removed during these steps, and your replacement screen, should work like new.

Pair A Blueant

BlueAnt makes a variety of Bluetooth-enabled headsets. Mobile phones that support a Bluetooth headset profile can be used with a BlueAnt device to provide hands-free communication. Before you can use your headset with your phone, you'll need to connect them by pairing. Pairing is usually a one-time-setup procedure, because your mobile phone will store the settings you enter. You should charge your headset fully before you begin; charging usually takes about two hours.

Instructions

1. Disconnect your headset from the charger and keep it powered off.

2. Place your phone and headset within a few feet of one another. Power your phone on and open the main menu. Scroll to "Settings" and choose "Bluetooth." Turn Bluetooth power on.

3. Press and hold the headset's "Multi-Function" button (marked with the BlueAnt symbol on most models) for several seconds. Release the button when the headset's indicator light begins flashing; the headset is now in pairing mode.

4. Open the Bluetooth settings on your mobile phone and choose "Add New" or "Discover." Your phone will attempt to locate the BlueAnt. This can take several moments.

5. Highlight the name of your headset from the list that appears and choose "Pair." Enter "0000" when prompted for the pass code and press "OK." Pairing is now complete.

Make Your Own Ringtone On Your Mac Or Pc

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of different places to purchase ringtones for your mobile phone, but after buying a few, you will realize exactly how quick those charges can add up. Fortunately, it is possible to make your own ringtones from the music you already own, and the only investment you will need to make is time. By following the instructions below, you will learn make your own ringtone on your Mac or PC.

Instructions

1. Ensure that your phone and service provider support the use of external ringtones. Some service providers lock their phones in order to force the use of ringtones that they provide.

2. Research the type of ringtone that your phone can accept. Many phones support the MP3 format, but others may support formats such as WAV, WMA or a number of other formats.

3. Locate the music file you would like to convert to a ringtone. If the piece of music is on CD, you will need to rip the track to your computer first.

4. Open the music file in a sound editing application. While the software that comes with Windows or OSX may work in a pinch, a more powerful sound editor will make the job easier. If you do not have such a program, the free, open-source Audacity will do the job. It is available for Mac OSX, Windows and Linux.

5. Select the portion of the song you would like as your ringtone. In many editors, this is as simple as clicking at the start of the portion and dragging the cursor to the end of the sample. Most phones require the ringtone to be twenty seconds or less.

6. Crop the file to the selected portion, or copy the section and paste it as a new file into the “Edit” menu of your program. If you crop the file, be sure to save it with a different name than the original file.

7. Export or save the file to the format that your phone requires. In many programs, you can adjust the bit rate, sample rate and the number of channels for the saved file. If your phone will not accept the transfer at first, and the clip is not too long for the phone, try reducing these settings. The sound quality of the ringtone will be reduced, but the file size will also be reduced, possibly allowing it to fit on your phone. The first setting to change should be the number of channels. Because most phones do not support stereo output, making the ringtone mono will do little to the quality of the file, but it will dramatically reduce the file size.

8. Transfer the resulting file to your phone. This can be done in several ways. If your phone supports email attachments, simply mail it to yourself. If your computer and phone both have Bluetooth, you may be able to transfer the file wirelessly. Finally, you could purchase the data cord for your phone, allowing you to transfer the ringtone directly from your Mac or PC to your phone.

Record The Best Sound With A Camcorder

The best way to improve sound is to be familiar with your camcorder.

Good sound is just as important to quality video as keeping the picture in focus or the subject in frame. But while many camcorders have placed a special emphasis on picture quality, zooms and other such visual elements, often the built-in microphone and audio hardware aren't as fancy. When shooting outdoors or in a loud area (such as a concert or performance venue), the background noise can drown out the recording's sound, or the microphone may not be able to pick up the sound. In some cases, the best sound comes from using better equipment.

Instructions

1. Examine and familiarize yourself with the camcorder. Know where your camera's built-in microphone is located. Imagine how the sound travels to reach that position on the camera and move to allow an easier path for the sound to reach the microphone.

2. Position yourself in the right place. For outdoor recording, be aware of wind and other noises and adjust your position to block out noises. For indoor or loud areas, stand close enough to the source for the sound to reach the microphone, but not so close that it distorts. Moving a few steps can make the difference between clear audio and static or silence.

3. Use headphones or an external mic. If the camcorder has a headphone jack, plug in a set of headphones to hear exactly how the audio is coming through while recording. If the camcorder has an external microphone jack, consider adding one to feed directly into the camera. Equipment specifically made to improve audio performance vastly improves sound quality.

Copy A Theme From Nokia To A Computer

Nokia cellphones come with a number of default cellphone themes. Theme is basically your cellphone's graphical interface, consisting of wallpapers, icons, background images and more. In addition to the default themes, you can also download personalized ones from the Internet, or buy from your carrier. Once they are on your phone, they are transferrable to other devices, including your computer.

Instructions

1. Connect your Nokia phone to your PC using its USB data cable.

2. Go to "Menu" > "Settings and Connectivity" > "Mass Storage" on the phone.

3. Go to "Start" > "My Computer"/"Computer" on your PC.

4. Navigate to your cellphone's folder under "Devices with Removable Storage."

5. Open the "Themes" subfolder. Inside the folder, you will find all the themes on the phone's memory.

6. Select the themes you want to copy on the computer. For multiple selections, click each theme's icon while holding the control key (Ctrl).

7. Press "Ctrl" + "C" to copy the selected items.

8. Open any other folder of your computer where you want to paste the copied themes. Upon opening the folder, press "Ctrl" + "V." All the selected items will then be copied to the respective folder.

Tighten Flip Phones

Some cellphones are designed to have the lid swing open to reveal the screen and keyboard. The hinge on these "flip" phones can loosen over time because the spring in the mechanism can get stretched out of shape from repeated opening and closing of the lid. You can tighten the hinge on a flip-type cellphone yourself. You will need tools that can be purchased at a hardware store if not already available at home.

Instructions

1. Place a hand towel on a table. Open the flip-type phone's lid and place it on the towel, with the LCD screen facing up. Rotate the phone so that the lid is closest to you.

2. Remove the screws from around the phone's faceplate, where the keypad is located, using a Torx screwdriver. Place the screws in a glass to keep them from getting lost.

3. Grip the faceplate at a corner and pull it off the phone. Place the faceplate aside. Repeat this procedure with the screwdriver, only removing the screws from the faceplate on the lid and then removing the faceplate.

4. Remove the screw from each side of the now exposed hinge at the bottom of the lid. Pull the hinge out from the phone and place it on the towel.

5. Hold the left side of the hinge down with one hand. Hold the flat-edged screwdriver in the other hand. Place the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver against the end of the spring on the right side. Push the spring towards the left to compress it. Hold the spring in this compressed state for two minutes before releasing it.

6. Place the hinge back into its original position on the phone and reattach the screws. Place the faceplate back on the lid and reattach the screws. Place the faceplate back on the keyboard section of the phone and reattach the screws. Close the lid.

Download Outlook Express For Nokia E63

Nokia's E63 smartphone allows you to access the Ovi Store where you can download free and commercially available apps. However, you will find that Outlook Express is not one of those apps because Microsoft no longer supports it and never created a mobile version when it did. Nevertheless, there are still several tools installed on your phone by default to accomplish the task of email management.

Outlook Express

Outlook Express was an email client that Microsoft included with certain releases of its Windows operating system, including Windows XP. Microsoft also provided Outlook Express with installations of Internet Explorer 4 and 6. Since the release of Windows Vista, Outlook Express has been replaced by Windows Mail and then Windows Live Mail. Outlook Express on Mac computers was once part of Microsoft Office but has been superseded by Microsoft Entourage. Microsoft's Outlook Express is only compatible with Windows PCs or Mac computers.

Significance

Microsoft never released a mobile version for the Nokia E63 or any other smartphone. In fact, Microsoft moved away from Outlook Express with the release of Vista in 2006, before smartphones became widespread. Thus, you cannot use the familiar interface to access your email. However, Nokia provides several methods to access your email. Your provider may also bundle software with your E63 for email managing. In addition, Microsoft offers alternative email solutions for this phone.

Nokia Email

Nokia's consumer email application allows you to connect to any email server that supports POP or IMAP protocols that allow you to send and receive emails. The Nokia email service is another option that sends email directly from your existing email account to your Nokia phone. You may also find that your cellular provider has installed email software on your phone if your service also includes an email account.

Microsoft Email

There are two methods that you can use to access Microsoft email or products on your E63. The phone includes a Mail for Exchange app if your organization uses Microsoft's Exchange server software to power communications. Additionally, you may find that the Windows Live Mail app is a suitable replacement for Outlook Express as Windows Live Mail is the program that has replaced it on computers. This app allows you to check your Hotmail account from your Nokia phone and integrate messenger and mail contacts with your phone book.

Usb Vs Analog Headsets

A computer headset allows you to transmit and receive audio for different applications.

When choosing a headset for online gaming, Internet telephony or business applications, you have many different models to choose from. One of the first decisions you have to make, however, is whether you prefer a USB headset or an analog model.

Analog Headsets

An analog headset plugs into your computer's headphone and microphone jacks, using standard 3.5 mm plugs. Typically, the headset uses a single cord that splits into two connectors at the end.

USB Headsets

USB headsets use a single plug, which connects to any standard USB jack on your computer.

Placement

One key factor is jack placement. On many computers, sound input and output jacks are on the rear panel rather than the front. This can make plugging and unplugging an analog headset difficult. Many machines, by contrast, feature front-panel USB connectors.

Activation

Whenever you plug in or unplug a USB device, your computer attempts to automatically detect the change. This can lead to a delay in receiving or transmitting sound when you first connect a USB model, while an analog headset is ready to go the moment you plug it in.

Wireless

With USB, you also have the option of going wireless. A base station connects to your PC via USB and transmits to a battery-powered headset.

Unlock A Nextel Sim Pin

You'll need a code to unlock your Nextel SIM card.

Your Nextel SIM card holds sensitive information: your phone number, contacts and other subscriber information. You can protect it from unauthorized use by enabling a security feature called a SIM PIN. The PIN is a four- to eight-digit code that, when activated, must be entered when your phone is powered on. Three incorrect code entries will block your PIN. You'll need to contact Nextel customer support for a PUK (PIN Unblock Code).

Instructions

1. Power your phone on. An "Enter SIM PIN Code" message will display if the lock is enabled.

2. Use your phone's keypad to type in the four- to eight-digit PIN. (If you have not changed your PIN, enter the default PIN of "0000.")

3. Press "OK." If you have entered the correct code, a "SIM Unlocked" confirmation will be displayed. If you receive an error and do not know your PIN, continue to Step 4.

4. Enter in the default PIN two more times; "SIM Blocked" or "Enter PUK" will be displayed. Do not attempt to guess the PUK; ten incorrect entries will permanently lock your SIM card.

5. Contact Nextel customer support by calling 1-800-639-6111 to obtain your PUK code and specific instructions on enter the code in to your phone. This process varies by phone make and model.

6. Enter the PUK code when prompted. You will then be prompted to enter a new PIN. Enter in a four- to eight-digit code of your choosing and press "OK."

7. Enter the new SIM PIN again to confirm and press "OK." Provided all codes were entered correctly, a "SIM Unlocked" confirmation will be displayed.

Turn On Silent Mode For Iphone

Your iPhone has a toggle switch to alternate between silent and regular modes.

There are many situations where you do not wish to be disturbed by your ringing iPhone. Maybe you are in a meeting, at class, at the movies, taking a nap, in a courtroom or whatever. In these cases, a ringing phone call can be embarrassing, disruptive or could get you into trouble. To address this concern, iPhone offers a convenience switch to toggle between silent and regular modes.

Instructions

1. Locate the switch at the upper left-hand side of your iPhone. This will be just above the volume keys.

2. Push the switch toward the back of the iPhone so that it is misaligned with the volume keys. Your iPhone will now be in silent mode, which means it not ring with incoming calls, but rather will vibrate. A bell icon with a slash through it should momentarily flash on the screen. You will still be able to listen to music or use alarms when in silent mode.

3. Navigate to "Settings," "Sounds" and the "Vibrate" on your iPhone by using the navigational keys or your touch pad. Turn vibrate off under the "Silent" section. This will prevent your phone from even vibrating when in silent mode. If you want it to still vibrate, disregard this step.

Use Internet In N95 Through A Usb Cable

Many wireless phone carriers provide the ability to "tether" a smartphone to a PC or laptop. This allows you to share your smartphone's Internet connection with your computer--a great feature for those who are constantly on the go and often find themselves in areas without Wi-Fi. The Nokia N95 smartphone runs on the S60 software platform, which allows you to tether your device to your computer and share the mobile Web much like a wireless USB modem.

Instructions

1. Start the Nokia PC Suite software by clicking "Start" > "All Programs" and selecting the application from your list of installed programs.

2. Click the "Click here to connect a phone" image to the right of the various icons in the application.

3. Choose "Cable connection" when asked which connection you'd like to use, then click the "Forward" arrow.

4. Plug one end of the USB cable into your phone and the other end into an available USB slot on your computer. The wizard will automatically detect your N95 and install the required software.

5. Navigate back to the main menu of the Nokia PC Suite and select "One Touch Access." Choose the "Nokia N95 8GB USB Modem" as your connection method.

Skype Is Not Working With My Vtech Skype Phone On Windows 7

Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, services allow a variety of ways to make telephone calls. Services like Skype provide flexibility, allowing you to make voice calls either through your computer or through accessories like VTech's USB phone. Problems with Skype using your VTech phone could be due to several factors.

Power and Connections

If your VTech USB phone is not working with Skype, your connections may be loose. Check that the USB connection between the VTech phone and your computer are secure. Also examine the AC adapter and power supply plug into the VTech phone base to confirm that it is properly plugged in. Also, check that there are batteries in the VTech USB handset and that they are charged.

Settings

If you cannot hear the audio when attempting to use Skype with your VTech USB phone, it is probably because the settings aren't configured correctly. To correct the situation, make sure the VTech phone is securely plugged into the computer via USB. To do so, launch Skype, select "Tools," then "Options" and click on the "Sound Devices" menu. In "Audio In," "Audio Out" and "Ringing," select the "Cordless USB Phone" option. This allows you to make calls through Skype with your VTech USB phone.

Computer

To make any calls with your VTech phone through Skype, your computer must be on. You cannot make calls through Skype if your computer is off, even using the VTech USB phone. Turn on your computer, log in to your account on Windows (if applicable) and launch Skype to make a call.

Internet Connection

The disadvantage with using Skype, even with the VTech phone, is that you must have a high-speed Internet connection to place calls. If your Internet is off for whatever reason, you won't be able to make any calls through Skype. Even a slow Internet connection can prevent you from making calls or constantly cause calls to drop. Contact your Internet service provider if speed or availability is an ongoing concern.

Hook Up Fring With Skype

Fring and Skype allow voice chats without using cell minutes

Due to multiple business practice and licensing disagreements, Skype and Fring are no longer compatible as of July, 2010. While this is subject to change, it is still easy to enjoy both products on your smart phone -- you'll just need to install them separately. Fring can easily manage your MSN Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo Instant Messenger, AIM and other messaging programs, while the Skype application will have Skype-only compatibility.

Instructions

Installing and Using Fring

1. Download and install the Fring application on your smart phone. Fring is currently available in the iPhone App Store, Nokia's "ovi" store and for Android devices. Downloads are available via your chosen application store, or via SMS (text) message links directly from Fring. If you're only interested in the Skype service for your smart phone, you can skip to the "Installing and Using Skype" section below.

2. Open the Fring application on your smart phone and create a Fring account by inputting the requested data. You can simply log in if you are an existing user.

3. Select the services you want Fring to manage. You will be asked for your login information for each service selected.

4. Chat, call or message contacts you have synchronized. Fring can now manage all your selected services in one place.

Installing and Using Skype

5. Download and install the Skype for mobile application on your smart phone. Skype is currently available for the iPhone, Nokia's Symbian phones, some BlackBerry devices and most Android devices. Downloads are available via your chosen application store, or via SMS (text) message links directly from Skype.

6. Open the Skype application on your smart phone and log in to your account. If you're a new user, input the data requested and this will log you into the service.

7. Add contacts by clicking the upper-right plus sign ("+") or other "add" buttons. With some devices, you can import your phone's address book to add to your Skype contact list.

8. Chat, call or message contacts who are online. Some carriers and devices will allow voice chats over 3G networks, while others are limited to Wi-Fi only.

Compose Music

Musical composition is a challenging and rewarding practice. Learning compose music that is engaging and interesting can be very difficult for some people to learn. The education and concentration needed to make a composition great can cause some people to abandon projects all together. However, composing music doesn't have to be like doing a math problem. Learn some easy steps to compose a piece of music.

Instructions

1. Begin by assessing whether you have the mental characteristics associated with a good composer. Ask yourself whether you have the ability to concentrate, a relatively rational mind, a good ear for sound and mixing and a working knowledge of music and music theory.

2. Brush up on your basic music theory skills. Begin with the most fundamental aspect of music which is rhythm. Learn voicing techniques, stylistic concerns (dynamic considerations, tempo and genre constraints), and write on musical staff paper.

3. Determine what type of music you want to compose. Listen to various artists and compositions of that style of music and pay special attention to each nuance of the music.

4. See if you can visualize the music on paper and, if possible, get a hold of the musical transcript so you can follow along while listening; it will give you a good idea of where to begin. Start with a melody and move on to the supporting parts

5. Obtain a keyboard, piano or guitar, since it will be the easiest way to write your musical piece. After you have decided on genre and instrumentation, buy a musical composition program to make the composition process easier; it is especially helpful for beginning composers. The best practice will be gained through handwriting the parts. Work on your piece in small sections, using an introduction, a middle and a good ending.

6. Take time to assess what you have written each day after writing. Listen to your own music and make sure you go through and play each part yourself so you are intimately acquainted with what you have written. If you are writing for just one instrument, then write something you can connect with.

7. Enroll in a music composition course at a local college or music conservatory. Alternatively, you could consider an online course in composition if you do not have access to a college course. Start small (a five or six-line-long piece) and work your way up to the big stuff.

N96 Tips

The Nokia N96 is a touchscreen mobile phone released for use on GSM networks in 2008. The N96 has a standard keypad that is accessed once you slide the main touchscreen display up. The phone has 16 GB of internal storage, a figure that can be increased to 32 GB with a microSD memory card. The N96 is 3G Internet-compatible and has a five-megapixel digital camera.

Camera

To take photos and change settings on your camera, press and hold the lowest button on the right-hand side of the phone when you are holding it vertically. From here, you can adjust the options for the camera. Hit the "A" icon to change what type of scene you want to use for a photo and the "EV" icon to make adjustments to a photo's exposure. The circular icon that is half white and half black will adjust the contrast.

Setup

You can change the look and organization of the N96 once you go to "Tools" from the main menu. Select "Settings," "General" and "Personalization." Go to "Themes" and then "Menu View" to choose between different looks for the main display screen. You can preview the different styles before selecting one. To change the order of the items in the menu, or to combine them into the same folders, go to "Options" and select "Move." You can also add a new folder and rename a current menu option.

Web Browsing

Rather than using the touchscreen or directional pad as a mouse all the time, you can use keyboard shortcuts when navigating the Internet. Press "1" to view all of your saved bookmarks. Press "2" to run a quick search for a word on the active Web page. Press "3" to toggle between two pages and "5" to see all of the open pages. Press "8" to simply look at the page you are on and zoom in closer to get a better view or read small fonts.

Video Calling

Video calls let you and the person you are talking to see one another. Go to "Contacts" and pick the person you want to call. Select "Options" and then select "Call." Go to "Video Call." Make sure the camera lens is positioned towards you during your call. All talking in video call mode is done using the N96 speakerphone, so you don't need to worry about how close you are to the phone.
