Diy Time Code Slate

Make a time code slate of your own.

Time code is important in video production because it provides a reference point for sound to sync with video during post-production editing. It is used to number each frame of recorded video. Time code becomes an issue when using external devices such as digital audio tape recorders, which in most cases provide for better sound capture than recording directly to the camera. Professionals use a digital time code slate to display the time code in real time, but with modern technology and a little ingenuity, you can transform a standard slate board, or clapper, into a time code slate.

Instructions

1. Connect your audio cables to the DAT recorder.

2. Connect the audio cables from the DAT recorder to the audio feed on your camera.

3. Turn on the video camera, locating its internal time code. The internal time code will appear on the camera's display window or view finder.

4. Place your slate near the camera; you will need it close by after shooting each take.

5. Mark the starting time code on the slate board as you begin recording.

6. Repeat the process of marking the slate with the appropriate time code (from the internal camera) every time you begin shooting a new take.

7. Replace the in-camera audio, when editing, with the external audio you have recorded.

8. Match your time code with the slate board, when video editing, to accurately sync the audio.

Download Pictures From My Phone

Many phones have cameras to take pictures with.

More and more phones are becoming equipped with cameras in them. The cameras allow a cell phone user to take pictures wherever they are. However, a problem may appear when you want to get the pictures onto your PC so you can place them in albums or email them.

Instructions

1. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable. Many phones have special modes that allow you to access the phone like a removable storage device, allowing you to access your pictures.

2. Send the picture to your email address. Most phones allow you to send email with an attachment (Your picture) to any email address, enabling you to retrieve your photo in your inbox.

Unlock My Phone Code

Unlock your phone to work on any network.

A lot of mobile phone companies will give the handset away for free or at a very low cost, and in return they put you on a contract. They will also lock the phone, preventing you from moving to a different company once the contract is up. This is done to insure a steady supply of customers, but what if you don't like the company's service and want to move to a different company? The simple answer is, unlock the phone using a code.

Instructions

1. Look for a site that has mobile phone unlock codes. There are plenty of these sites out there. Some that you might consider looking at are GSMLiberty.net, Unlocktotalk, and GlobalUnlock. The one you choose will largely depend on whether they have the unlock codes for the mobile service provider you use. As of 2010, these codes range in price from $12.99 to $24.99.

2. Find the international mobile equipment identification number, or IMEI for short. This is a serial number that companies use to identify your phone with. Get this by dialing *#06# and waiting for a few seconds. You will get a 15-digit code that appears on your screen. Write the number down on a piece of paper.

3. Go to the website that you've chosen to use and type in the IMEI in the first drop-down box. Then enter your country, your mobile phone service and your phone make and model. Hit "Submit."

4. Enter your payment details and your email address and press "Buy."

5. Wait one to two days. Your unlock codes and instructions on use them will be sent to your email address. When you get the code, write it down on a piece of paper.

6. Turn your phone off and take the battery out. Remove the SIM (subscriber identity module) card and replace it with one from a different network. If you don't have one, you can purchase a prepaid card at a convenience store or borrow a friend's. Replace the battery and turn your phone back on.

7. Enter the unlock code exactly as you see it. Double-check to make sure that it is correct and hit "Ok." Wait for a few seconds and the phone will blink, beep, and turn off and then on again. Once it has restarted, look at the top of the screen and you should see the name of the new network. If it is there, then you have succeeded in unlocking your mobile phone. If it isn't there, then try reentering your unlock code again.

Unlock A Nokia E71 Cell Phone

Unlock a Nokia E71 Cell Phone

The Nokia E71 usually comes locked to the network provider it was supplied by. This means that you can only use your E71 with the supplied SIM card, which can be especially annoying, for example when you are on vacation and want to make calls using a local SIM rather than pay high roaming rates. You can unlock the E71 by entering a unique unlock code. The code can be obtained for free or from a vendor.

Instructions

1. Note your E71's IMEI number. This is found on a sticker on the back of the phone, under the battery. You can also find it by dialing "*#06#" on the phone, to see it on the display.

2. Call your network provider to request that you would like the phone unlocked. Explain that you are traveling abroad and will need to use a foreign SIM in your time abroad. The network provider will email you the unlock code to enter in your phone. Some network providers might decline to do so, in which case you have to look at the paid-for unlock option.

3. Visit an unlocking company website online. There are a number of websites where unlock codes can be obtained for the E71. (See "Resources.") Give the company the phone's make and model, the service provider, country and IMEI number. You will be directed by the website through the process to obtain the unlock code, which may involve a fee. The unlock code will be emailed to you.

4. Remove the network SIM card from your E71. Switch the handset back on and follow the instructions provided with the unlock code to enter the code in the phone and unlock it.

Improve Cell Phone Performance

Cell phone performance varies depending on the type of device you are using and the strength of the cell phone provider's signal. If you feel that your poor cell performance has more to do with your handset or location than with the overall quality of the provider's service, there are a few courses of action you can take for getting a stronger signal when at home or on the go.

Instructions

On the Go

1. Purchase a cellular antenna that can be mounted to the back glass on your car. This device is a long antenna, similar to the one you use for your radio signal. It reduces your dropped calls and bad reception when driving. Expect to pay about $50.

2. Mount the antenna to your back window with the permanent adhesive paper that comes with the kit.

3. Reboot your phone to give it a chance to reconnect to the network using the stronger signal.

At Home

4. Purchase a wireless extender. These are sometimes called femtocell devices. This is similar to an antenna booster, only it is not attached to your device. It is a standalone device that behaves just like a router---it works with your home's broadband network (usually cable or DSL Internet source) to distribute a stronger cell phone signal to your handset. These are fairly expensive---sometimes more than $250.

5. Connect the extender to a coaxial cable that is connected to your home's cable antenna or to an Ethernet cord that runs from your modem. Plug the unit into a wall outlet with its power adapter.

6. Turn on the unit and allow it to load up just like a router. Reboot your cell phone before use.

Configure Ps3 Headphones

Using headphones with your PS3 will require some troubleshooting, but has its benefits.

Whether you're playing a video game late at night, watching a Blu-ray DVD, using Netflix, or taking advantage of other Sony PS3 capabilities, using headphones with your PS3 will bring you closer to the action without waking up the neighbors. The current PS3 consoles don't have a direct solution for most headphones, however. Most wired headphones and earbuds use a 1/8-inch audio jack, and the PS3 doesn't have a 1/8-inch audio-out jack.

Instructions

1. Insert the the A/V (audio/visual) plug into the audio-in jack of the stereo receiver or television set through which you're running audio for the Sony PS3.

2. Plug the headphones into the audio-output jack of the receiver or television. The audio-output jack is typically located on the front, side or back of receivers and televisions.

3. Adjust the volume on your headphones to a moderate level and turn off the mute function.

4. Power on the PS3 system and the television/receiver.

Figure Out Your Puk Code

PUKs are most often used in GSM mobile phones.

A PUK code, or "PIN unlock key," is a number that allows you to unblock a locked SIM card. Your SIM card could become blocked if you've entered your cell phone's PIN incorrectly more than three times. Once you've entered the wrong PIN three times, a message will display on your phone asking you to enter your PUK code. You can find this code from the online account with your server or you can call your provider directly.

Instructions

1. Navigate to your online cell phone account. Enter your user name and password to log in.

2. Locate the option within your account that allows you to view your phone information. This could be labeled "My Services" or "Phone" or "Device."

3. Click on the option that allows you to unblock your SIM card. This option will usually be labeled "Unblock My SIM card."

4. Follow the directions on the screen to access your PUK code.

5. Call your cell phone provider directly and speak with a customer service representative if you cannot access your online account or your account will not give you your PUK code. You will be asked questions to confirm your identity, such as your address, your birth date and even the number of your SIM card. Once your identity has been confirmed, your PUK code will be given to you.

Instructions

1. Download an app such as Skype Mobile, Tru App or Rebtel Mobile (see Resources) if you have a smart phone that can access Wi-Fi. Get A Power Window Up Manually

This could be a big problem: Your power window motor stops just as you are rolling it up, and then it begins to rain! What are you going to do to get that power window up before you get drenched? Fortunately, there is a simple method that will save your hair and your upholstery by getting that window up quickly.

Instructions

1. Stabilize the door so it doesn't move on its hinges. Open the door and lean against the opened part of the door with the latch against your chest. You will be standing between the door and the rest of the car.

2. Grab the glass between both palms. There may not be much of your window showing, but if you have at least 1 inch you should be able to do this. Put the palm of one hand on the inside of the window and the palm of the other on the outside of the window. Press your palms forcibly together, which will grab the glass between them firmly.

3. Move your palms upward gently and slowly while gripping the glass. Do not allow your palms to slip on the glass. You may have to do this very slowly, but the electric motor gears will turn, and the window will begin to move upward from your actions.

4. Push the window into the seal at the top of the door. When you get near the top of the window frame, reposition your hands and push the window up the rest of the way to make a firm seal. The rubber seal at the top of the frame and the gear movement should hold the glass in place.

3. Turn over your Tracfone. Remove the protective cover. Take out the battery and place the SIM card underneath. Replace the battery and protective cover.

Unlock Sprint Pocket Pc Phones

Unlock the Sprint Pocket PC to use other networks.

Unlocking a Sprint Pocket PC phone is not difficult, but it takes some time and money. Unlocking a phone involves switching network providers, and the switch requires information from the original provider---in this case, Sprint---that the company might charge for. This information is the IMEI code identifying the particular Pocket PC. You'll also need a SIM card from the new provider to replace the original from Sprint.

Instructions

1. Contact Sprint customer service using the Support tab on Sprint's website to request the Pocket PC's IMEI code, which will allow the phone to work with other providers. Depending on the amount of time Sprint has been the Pocket PC's provider, Sprint may or may not charge for this information. The IMEI code should arrive by mail within a few days.

2. Remove Sprint's SIM card from the Pocket PC. The SIM card is found in a slot near the battery in the back of the phone. Remove the protective battery case from the Pocket PC to find it. Insert the SIM card from the new provider.

3. Restart the Pocket PC. The phone will detect the new SIM card and ask for the IMEI code. Enter the IMEI code using the phone's dial pad. The Pocket PC is now authorized to work with the new network.

Configure Gprs Settings For Tmobile

GPRS settings enable the ability to use the Internet.

If you've recently decided to use a non-T-Mobile phone on the T-Mobile network you have likely noticed that you cannot access the Internet or use picture messaging. This is because each carrier uses their own settings for GPRS (General Packet Radio Services ) and if you choose to use a non T-Mobile phone on the T-Mobile network you will need to contact them for assistance with obtaining the settings. The great thing is, getting the settings is not a complicated task.

Instructions

1. Pull the battery out of your phone and write down the model number of your phone. The model number is on the product description sticker that is lowed on the back of the phone in the battery compartment. T-Mobile will need to know what phone you are using in order to help with the configuration of GPRS.

2. Call T-Mobile at (877) 453-1304 and ask to speak to a technical care representative because you need to obtain GPRS settings for your phone. You must be off of your phone or they will tell you to call back. Advise the technical care representative the brand and model of phone that you have. The representative will send you what is called an OTA (over the air) update with the GPRS settings you need.

3. Open the push message (OTA message) that has been sent to your phone. The representative will give you a four-digit code to enter into the phone to save the settings. The representative will send you a second download for MMS (picture messaging) settings. A second four-digit code will be given to you to save those settings. The phone is now provisioned with all of the necessary GPRS settings.

What Do The Icons On A Cell Phone Mean

All cell phones have standard icons with similar appearances.

The icons on a cell phone provide vital information about your device and its performance. All cell phones have a set of similar icons which represent standard features. Your cell phone's user manual contains the device-specific icon definitions.

Battery

The battery symbol is usually located at the top right corner of the cell phone. It indicates the amount of battery life currently available. When charging, the battery icon will either light up, show an icon, such as a lightening bolt, through the battery or display the words "Charging" on the screen.

Network

Cell phones will display the current network tower your device is operating from. The most common network is 3G but other network icons are E for Edge and less commonly, 0 for GPRS.

Service Indicator

Cell phones have a service indicator which appears in a bar graph shape, usually containing five bars. This icon is normally found at the left top corner of the display screen. The bars indicate the amount of service currently available in a specific area. The smaller amount of visible bars indicates less service while a larger amount of bars indicates better service.

Sound

The music note displayed at the top of your cell phone screen indicates the ringer type for the phone's call alert. The music note means a melody will play when an incoming call occurs. A music note that is crossed out with a line indicates a silent ringer. A music note followed by lines indicates ring and vibrate.

Nokia N96 Features

The Nokia N96 is a multimedia-focused smartphone released to the U.S. market in October 2008. The N96 runs the Symbian S60 operating system with Nokia's custom skin. Successor to the N95, the device boasts some advanced features, but it lacks a touch-screen and full QWERTY keyboard. The N96 was not adopted by any U.S. carrier, meaning buyers needed to purchase the device unlocked for a higher price than the typical smartphone ordered with a contract.

Hardware

The N96 was released after Nokia's powerhouse N95 and the two phones share the same form factor, camera and basic operating system. The N96 was introduced just as touch-screens and full QWERTY keyboards were becoming the norm in smartphones, so its lack of either was conspicuous. Its 2.8-inch screen displays 16 million colors at a resolution of 240-by-320 pixels. The phone has a 264 MHz processor, 128 MB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory storage. It accepts microSD cards for up to 8 GB of additional storage.

Multimedia

The 5.0-megapixel camera on the N96 was designed though a partnership with Carl Zeiss, a respected German optics company that pioneered many advances in the field of lens design. It features dual-flash capability that was favorably received by reviewers at CNET, PC World and Phone Arena. For music listening, the N96 offers a 3.5 mm headset jack for use with standard headphones as well as stereo Bluetooth support for wireless enjoyment. The device also has dedicated music hardware controls, accessed by sliding the screen downward, and an FM radio. The N96 supports MP3, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA music file formats only.

Operating System

Nokia's N96 runs on the Symbian S60 Feature Pack 2 operating system, a popular choice for smartphones from many manufacturers, especially in the European market. Like Google's Android, Symbian is open source, giving developers a good degree of freedom when working on new apps. S60 offers business-class features such as Microsoft Office document viewing and push email for real time message delivery supporting POP3 and IMAP accounts. As of March 2011, Symbian is still in development with Nokia as its chief proponent.

Connectivity

The N96 is a tri-band GSM phone and thus compatible with the AT&T and T-Mobile networks as of March 2011. When it was released, it did not support the correct frequency bands to work with T-Mobile's 3G data network, leaving users stuck with much slower data transfer speeds. AT&T users were able to successfully use 3G data. The device carries Wi-Fi and GPS receivers, and the latter includes support for turn-by-turn directions through third-party apps.

This will allow you to keep tabs on what's going on at your home or office from anywhere in the world. Instructions

Change The Back Cover For An Iphone 3g

You can change the back cover for an iPhone 3G with screwdrivers.

The iPhone has a slender phone body and big display screen. The back cover of the iPhone 3G comes in silver and gives the gadget a unique appearance. However, if the rear portion of your iPhone receives a scratch or other type of outward damage, this causes the appearance of your phone to diminish. If you want to change the back cover of your iPhone 3G, you can perform this task with screwdrivers and a paperclip.

Instructions

1. Turn off the iPhone.

2. Pull your paperclip so that it becomes straight. Then, insert it in your SIM card opening (the tiniest hole) on the upper portion of your device. This causes your card to come out of its place.

3. Turn your device over so you can see its rear cover. Use a screwdriver that contains a flat head to ease off the rear plastic cover. To do this, place the tool in the space that exists in the middle of your black cover and silver case.

4. Take out the screws that attach the silver case with your screwdriver of the Phillips-head variety.

5. Gently ease your flat-head screwdriver along the side portions of your rear case once more.

6. Remove the rear case of your iPhone 3G. This allows you to see the ribbon that attaches your rear case to the motherboard of your device. Nudge the ribbon gently upwards with the use of your flat-head screwdriver to remove it.

7. Insert the ribbon for your new rear cover. Then, replace the screws that you removed earlier. Ease the black rear cover on again.

Nokia 3230 3d Games

The Nokia 3230 mobile phone offers a variety of organizational and messaging tools, as well as the opportunity to download and play a variety of games similar to those found on portable gaming machines like Nintendo's DS. While the phone's internal computer is not as sophisticated as those of modern gaming machines, there are still several games available featuring three-dimensional graphics and gameplay.

3D Bowling

Using your phone's keypad and action buttons, "3D Bowling" challenges you to line up your aim down a 3D bowling alley, calculate your shot and knock down as many pins as possible. The game uses transparent graphical effects to render your character in the bowling alley environment and renders the alley itself as a 3D environment containing an alley, ball and pins. "3D Bowling" is a score-challenge game that can be played an entire game at a time, or a few frames while waiting for the bus.

Captain Fatal 3D

In the tradition of computer games like "Wolfenstein 3D" and "Doom" comes "Captain Fatal 3D," a first-person shooter title in a military mold. The game casts you as the eponymous protagonist, an elite soldier tasked with carrying out a perilous solo infiltration mission. Along the way you'll pick up high-powered firepower and fight heavily-armed foes, so dodging and a fast trigger finger are needed to progress. "Captain Fatal 3D" provides a 3D world of corridors and passageways to explore and battle through.

Car Challenge

A racing game in a 3D world, "Car Challenge" owes just as much to "battle racing" games like "Mario Kart" and "PowerDrift" as it does to traditional laps-based racing games. The title combines racing and demolition derby, challenging players to arm their car from a choice of different weapons and take on foes to be the last car remaining. "Car Challenge" can be played in 3D third-person mode on in a top-down 2D mode similar to racing games like "Micro Machines."

Shiver 3D

"Shiver 3D" is a first-person shooter like "Captain Fatal 3D," but with a supernatural horror theme which aims to scare players as often as it tests their reflexes. The game uses 3D graphical effects to place the player in a dank 3D maze in which vision is limited by the torchlit darkness. With a range of weapons and 10 levels, "Shiver 3D" is designed to provide a long-lasting challenge.
