Fix A Logitech Headset

A Logitech headset is a type of combination headphone and microphone unit designed to allow you to engage in voice communication using your computer. You can record your own voice into a variety of programs or communicate with people in real-time via instant messaging or voice conferencing utilities. If your Logitech headset is experiencing difficulties, you can fix it by verifying and adjusting its settings within Windows.

Instructions

1. Reinstall the software that came with your Logitech headset. This software is called a driver, and it is required to be installed on your computer so that Windows can recognize when the headset is attached to your computer. Place the installation CD-ROM back into your computer and click "Install" when the prompt loads on your monitor.

2. Right-click on the "Volume Control" system tray icon and select "Recording Devices." Right-click on the icon for your Logitech headset and click "Enable." If Windows had disabled your Logitech headset, no programs would have been able to use it. After enabling the device, attempt to use it again.

3. Make sure your Logitech headset is plugged into the "Microphone" and the "Headphone" jacks on your sound card. The cable of your Logitech headset has two plugs; one plug goes into the jack on the back of your computer labeled "Microphone" and the other into the jack labeled "Speaker." If one of these two plugs isn't inserted into your computer, or if they're inserted into the wrong jacks, the Logitech headset won't be able to operate properly.

Bluetooth Headset Work

How Does a Bluetooth Headset Work?

The Personal Area Network

The cornerstone of Bluetooth technology is the Personal Area Network, or PAN, which creates a short range network that is accessible by all devices using the Bluetooth protocol. This is why Bluetooth headsets can be used with computers, cell phones, or even a PlayStation 3. However, before this network can be formed, connections must be formed.

Headset Connection

In order to get your headset to work with specific devices, you have to create an initial connection. This process is known as "syncing" When you sync your headset with a device capable of receiving Bluetooth information, then you are creating an invisible link between the two devices. This link can be a part of a larger PAN that includes other devices, or as is often the case with Bluetooth headsets designed for cell phone use, the PAN is a simple one way link that sends data from the headset to the phone.

Information Sharing

A Bluetooth headset transmits information that comes through it to the phone, PC, or console that it is synced with. The information is then transmitted through the receiving device's own Bluetooth-specific transmission method to make sure that the information gets where it needs to go. Although the process sounds complex, information in this sort of network only flows one way, and the Bluetooth signal only facilitates the initial transfer of this data. Specialized protocols and software handle the rest.

Make An International Call For Free

Make an International Call for Free

The cost of making an international can be prohibitive for the average person. Even international calling cards come with a hefty per minute rate. If you're looking for an alternative solution, there is a simple way to make an international call for free using a popular online service called Skype. This service is commonly used by business people and individuals who have to make regular calls to contacts overseas. To make free calls you have to use a computer or other compatible device and the party you are calling must also have the Skype service.

Instructions

1. Download Skype (see Resources below)/ The Skype program is available for most popular operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It can also be downloaded to certain Nokia phones. Ask the person you want to contact to download Skype as well.

2. Hook your headset up to your computer (the headset should be similar to the one that customer service representatives use) and open Skype. Click "Test Microphone" and "Test Speaker" on your dashboard to make sure that the headset is working.

3. Add the user name of the person you want to call into your contact list by searching the Skype directory for it. Then click "Contacts" and select the name you want to call. Click the green button to call the person. The line will ring just as with any other call. If the other person is available the line will pick up and you can commence with your free international call.

4. When you are finished with your call, press the red "End" button to disconnect the line.

Make Flashing Cell Phone Lanyards

Create a flashing lanyard for your cell phone.

If you feel like your cell phone needs some extra bling, try making your own flashing cell phone lanyard. Not only does this personalize your cell phone, it makes it easier for you to find in the dark and harder to lose. Making these lanyards may seem like a task, but it's really quite simple. Flashing charms come in all shapes, from snowflakes to margarita glasses to flip-flops.

Instructions

1. Cut three lengths of cotton cord about 6 inches long. They may all be the same color, two colors or three different colors. Braid the cords together without knotting the ends together. The cords should stay together easily if your braid them tightly enough.

2. Slide a split ring onto your braided cords, folding them around the ring. These rings are similar to keychain rings, but smaller.

3. Slip all six cord ends through a crimp bead. Slide the crimp bead up to the base of the split ring, securing it at the center of the braided cords. Squeeze the crimp bead with your pliers to crush it. Use a second crimp ring to hold all six cord ends together. Crimp rings are metal beads with weak sides that collapse to hold things in place; you'll need a large one for this project.

4. Pry apart the coils of your split ring, finding one end of the coiled wire. Slide the loop of your flashing charm onto the ring and slide it over the wire until it moves freely on the ring. You can now adorn your cell phone.

Unlock Tmobile Nokia 5300 Cell Phones

A cell phone SIM card. SIM stands for "subscriber identity module."

A Nokia 5300, when purchased from the T-Mobile carrier, comes "locked." This way, you cannot just switch to a different company for your phone service. If you want to use your phone with a different carrier, you will need to get an unlocking code. You can get this from T-Mobile, provided you have met certain criteria with regards to your contract, or you can purchase one.

Instructions

1. Buy a SIM card from a different network. You can get one for $20 at a mobile phone or convenience store.

2. Turn on the Nokia 5300 phone. Type *#06# on the phone's keypad. Wait for the IMEI (international mobile equipment identification) number to appear on your screen. Write down the number. Keep this number, because you will be using it to unlock your phone.

Unlocking your BlackBerry allows you to use SIM cards from other providers.

To openline your BlackBerry means to unlock the SIM card. When your purchase your BlackBerry from a service provider, the phone is locked so that it cannot be used with other SIM cards or other providers. You can have your phone unlocked if you have the unlock code and your IMEI number, which is your phone's identification number. Some service providers are willing to supply the unlock code if you are moving or traveling to an area where you will be unable to use your phone. This is usually the case when you are moving to areas where it will be unable to receive your business, but since you have paid for the phone, you still have a legal right to use it.

2. Contact an online service company that specializes in unlocking your phone, such as FonesZone or Global Unlock (see Resources). For this you need to know the make and model of your phone, as well as the IMEI number. Some online companies have a database of unlock codes for all makes and models of cell phones.

3. Find the IMEI number on your BlackBerry by entering "*#06#" onto the phone's keypad. The IMEI number appears.

4. Register for an account with the online service company. Sign into the account and provide your email address, phone make and model, as well as the IMEI number. The unlock company emails you the unlock code, as well as instructions on unlock your phone.

Activate An Lg Vx7000 Phone

Activating your LG VX7000

While you may prefer the technology and fun features of a new phone, it is sometimes necessary to activate an old phone to an existing phone number. There are several ways in which you can accomplish this task, depending on your level of technical savvy. If you have an LG VX7000, you can activate and program it to your phone number with just a few easy steps.

Instructions

1. Remove the battery from the back of the VX7000. Press the button located near the hinge and slide the battery towards the bottom of the phone with your thumb. This allows you to view the battery compartment where the identification numbers are located.

2. Look for the electronic serial number (ES) printed on a sticker on the back of the handset. It is printed in either 11-digit decimal form (all numbers), or eight-digit hexadecimal form (numbers and letters). This is the unique identification number for your handset and allows the carrier's system to recognize your phone.

3. Call your cellular provider from a second phone line. Talk to a customer service or technical support representative and give them the ESN. They will need to change the ESN listed on your account to the ESN on the VX7000 in order for you to program the phone.

4. Put the battery back into the VX7000 by sliding the battery towards the hinge of the phone until you hear a click. Power the phone on by pressing the red end button.

5. Program the VX7000 with your phone number by dialing *228 from the phone and listening for the voice prompts. These will vary depending on your provider. Wait for the system to report a successful activation. The phone is now activated with the new number.

The Difference Between The Nokia 6265 & The Nokia 6265i

There are slight differences between the Nokia 6265 and 6265I models.

Although the Nokia 6265 and the Nokia 6265i are similar in appearance, there are slight differences in the specifications for each model. As can be assumed, the Nokia 6265i is an upgraded model and includes extra features that the 6265 model does not. Understanding the small differences between the models may help you select the one that is right for you.

Still Image Format

Both the Nokia 6265 and the Nokia 6265i offer the option to take photos with a resolution of 2.0 megapixels. However, the still image formats that are used by each model differ and may affect the quality of the image when uploaded to a computer or sent via MMS text messaging. The upgraded version, the 6265i, saves photos as a JPEG file, whereas the 6265 does not.

Video Format

The specifications for each model differ with regards to the digital video format used. While the Nokia 6265 and the Nokia 6265i both have the capabilities of taking fairly clear videos, the formats in which they are saved differ, which may ultimately affect the videos' quality. The 6265 uses a standard MPEG 4 video format, with the additional MP3, H.263, H.264 at 15 fps (frames per second). The 6265i, on the other hand, uses H.263 video and AMR audio at 3 gp.

Web Browser Platforms

This is one of the areas where the two Nokia models differ the most and where the 6265i has an advantage over the 6265. The Nokia 6265i supports Java, which is fairly standard for many websites, as well as BREW and Java MIDP 2.0. The Nokia 6265 uses a different browser software, Openwave 6.2.3, that only supports WAP 2.0, xHTML and TC/IP, which are basic formats that cannot support all web pages.

Additional Camera Function

The Nokia 6265i contains additional features related to its 2.0-megapixel camera. Unlike the Nokia 6265, this model has a flash as well as a self-timer. The self-timer is great for taking photos when you are alone or want to take a group shot. This model also comes equipped with a self-portrait mirror that serves the same function.

Unlock Sanyo Phones

Sanyo phones purchased from wireless carriers are usually "locked" to that particular network. This makes it impossible to use SIM cards from other networks with the phone. However, the phone is "locked" at the software level and simply requires the user to enter the proper unlock code to return it to its original factory setting of accepting any valid SIM card. Many wireless carriers will provide the unlock code free of charge if the customer calls to request it.

Instructions

1. Obtain the IMEI number of your phone. The customer service rep uses this to verify that the handset is yours and it is also required to generate the unlock code. Type *#06# to display the code on the phone.

2. Call the customer service department of your wireless service provider to request the "subsidy unlock code" of your Sanyo phone. One reason the company may provide the unlock code is if you plan to use the phone in another country and you need it unlocked to take advantage of their prepaid services.

3. Remove the battery and original SIM card from the Sanyo and insert a SIM card from a different network. Insert the battery and turn on the phone.

4. Enter the unlock code provided by the customer support to unlock the Sanyo for use on other networks.

What Is The Difference Between The Nokia E71 & E71x

The Nokia E71 and E71x are almost the exact same phone. The E71x was released for AT&T wireless customers in April 2009, though the company no longer actively offers the phone through upgrade programs or website promotions. The E71 was released as a GSM phone that would function on multiple networks. The only real difference between them is that the E71 features FM radio capability and the E71x does not.

Size and Appearance

Both phones are 4.4 inches tall, 2.2 inches wide and 0.4 inches thick. The phones weigh 4.4 ounces. The E71x and E71 come in several different colors -- among these are white steel, gray steel, black and red. The display screen rests above the full keyboard, and the inputs jacks for USB connectivity and headphones are placed on the sides of both models. The battery slot is in the back of the phone near the bottom, and the internal antenna is on top.

Messaging and Communication

The E71 and E71x both support text, picture and video messaging. Both phones work with AOL, Yahoo! and Windows Live instant messengers. You can also link to other phones or computers using Bluetooth 2.0. Once you have named your phone and connected to Bluetooth, you can search for devices to pair with. After pairing, you can trade photos, songs and other files between the two devices. Bluetooth will also let you connect to a wireless headset for hands-free calls.

Camera and Internet

The E71 and E71x both feature a 3.1-megapixel digital camera with an LED flash for difficult lighting situations. The highest possible photo resolution for the phone is 2,048 pixels by 1,536 pixels, though the LCD display screen only allows for a resolution of 320 pixels by 240 pixels. These phones are capable of connecting to the Internet through GPRS, Edge, 3G or Wi-Fi connections. The maximum Internet speed is 3.6 megabits per second.

More Features

The E71 and E71x both have the Symbian 9.2 operating system and use the 369-megahertz ARM 11 processor. The phones use a WAP 2.0 Web browser and have voice dialing so you can record a prompt and dial a number with a verbal command. There is also a voice recorder for taking memos and conference call capability to connect more than two parties at once. You can view documents created in Microsoft Word programs and open music or movie files with the media player.

Delete A Certificate Authority On Nokia Phones

Certificates can be deleted from your Nokia phone.

Nokia phones use certificates to validate the authenticity of a user on certain websites, such as banking sites, and to provide secure data transmission for applications. Certificates can hold user-encrypted keys and can provide secure access to your device. If you want to delete a certain certificate from your Nokia phone, a few simple steps can help you find and remove it.

Instructions

1. Turn on the phone and then navigate to the menu screen. Typically the menu will be found by pressing a "soft key" directly below the word "menu" on the phone's display. The keypad might also have a menu button. Refer to your device's manual if you are unsure where the menu option is located.

2. Scroll through the menu options until you find one called "Tools"; select that option.

3. Under the "tools" section find an icon or link option called "settings" and click on that option.

4. Navigate to "general" under the "settings" option.

5. Find the icon for "security" under "settings" and click on it.

6. Find the "certificate" screen. You will then see options for authority certificates and trusted sites. You will probably want to delete a trusted site's certificate. Click on the type of certificate you want to delete.

7. Find the certificate for deletion under the certificate type you have chosen. Click on that certificate by pressing the "view" option. When the certificate opens you should see an option to delete that certificate. Choose the deletion option and the certificate will be removed.

Program Unlocked Cell Phones

An unlocked phone is programmed using an IMEI code and a SIM card.

For an unlocked cell phone to be programmed it needs a few things. First is a number called the IMEI code, which identifies individual phones. The second is a memory card from a network provider called the SIM card that connects a cell phone to the provider's network. With these things and the cooperation of the providers, an unlocked phone can be programmed to work with a new network.

Instructions

1. Request the IMEI code from the last network the cell phone was connected to. If it's uncertain which provider was last used, there are third-party sources online that will find the phone's IMEI code for a fee. Although, generally, it's cheaper and wiser to work directly with the network provider, although based on provisions of the phone's initial contract they could still charge for the code.

2. Remove the plate covering the phone's battery and make sure the phone has a SIM card. The slot for the SIM card can be found near the battery; it will be small enough to house a chip-sized memory card, or will actually have a memory card in it. If you are switching network providers, remove the card and insert the SIM card supplied by the new provider. If not, leave as is. If empty, add a SIM card from the network provider that you want the phone to work with, also supplied by that provider.

3. Restart the phone. The phone will detect the new SIM card and will ask for the IMEI code as confirmation to move forward. Entering the code at this point is what allows the unlocked phone to be programmed, the inserted SIM card is what makes the unlocked phone programmable. After entering the code the phone will be programmed and begin functioning with the new network.

Unlock A Nokia N97

Nokia N97 is a GSM cell phone. Typically, when you purchase the handheld from a carrier, it will be locked to that carrier's services. This means that you cannot switch your phone network unless the cell phone is unlocked. Several methods are available for unlocking the N97.

Instructions

1. Contact your carrier and figure out if it's willing to give away the unlock code. Depending on your contract length, the carrier may or may not provide the unlock code with a fee. The closer the contract lies to the termination date, the more likely you are to get the free code.

3. Purchase the unlock code from a remote unlocking company. Retrieve the IMEI of your phone by pressing "*#06#." Give your carrier name, phone model and IMEI code to the unlocking company. Make the payment via credit card and wait for the unlock code to be sent at your email ID.

4. Enter the unlock code you obtained from any of the above methods into your cell phone. Typically, you have to insert the SIM of a provider other than your current carrier and enter the unlock code after powering your phone on. The screen will display a "phone unlocked" message.

Reasons My Vizio Tv Has Power But No Picture Or Sound

Television malfunctions can be a major cause of frustration. Reasonable prices make Vizio televisions a great value, but there is a risk of problems down the line. Some Vizio HDTVs have a problem with the television having power but providing no picture or sound. It's important to figure out what is wrong before you make a decision on a costly repair.

Power Supply

According to ConsumerAffairs.com, the power supply is a frequent source of audio and video problems. These problems often are caused by overheating of the power supply. Generally, when the power supply overheats you will hear a loud pop noise as the television loses its picture and sound. This noise occurs when a capacitor is blown. Often when the power supply breaks, the power button will not work and the television will need to be plugged or unplugged to turn the power on or off. There is a slight positive aspect to a power-supply malfunction: When it overheats and stops working, it prevents further damage from other components overheating.

Motherboard

If there was no pop sound as the TV stopped working, the problem could be the motherboard. One way to check for a motherboard problem is to look through the vents in the back of the television and see if the backlight is still working. If the backlight is off, there is a different cause; but if the backlight is on, the motherboard could be the problem. Fixing a blown motherboard can be difficult, because it may not have black marks or other signs of burning to identify broken parts. On the bright side, you may not have to replace the whole motherboard. The solution may be as simple and inexpensive as replacing a single fuse, according to 20InchLCDTVs.com.

Backlight Inverter Board

If you look inside the television through the vents and see that the backlight is not working, the problem could be a broken backlight inverter board. Tech writer Steve DiRaddo says the backlight inverter board is used to project video onto the screen. If this is your issue, the board will need to be replaced.

Repairs

Do not attempt to repair the television yourself unless you have extensive experience with electronics, as a mistake could cause further damage. Shop around for places to repair the TV. Some places take advantage of customers who don't realize the fix is not nearly as expensive as the price they charge. Before taking the television to a repair shop, contact Vizio or the store that sold the TV, and see if any warranties will cover the repair. According to HDGuru.com, Vizio has expanded warranty coverage, and will pay for the costs of shipping the TV to be fixed.

Unlock A Nokia N96

Unlock a Nokia N96

All Nokia N96 models use unique unlock codes to lift the restrictions on using SIM cards from other wireless networks. 2. Call your wireless provider's customer support number. Request the subsidy unlock code and give the representative your IMEI number. Most companies issue the code to any client who has been with them for 90 days or more.

3. Turn off the N96 and remove the battery. Remove the SIM card and reinsert the battery. Turn the phone on.

4. Enter #pw+CODE+1# and the phone will display "SIM Restriction Off," indicating that the phone is now unlocked and ready for use with any SIM card. Replace "CODE" with the code issued by the customer service department. Canadian phones from Fido or Rogers must use #pw+CODE+7# instead.
