Instructions

1. Turn on your Android device.

2. Press the "Menu" button, represented by four horizontal lines, the word "Menu" or four small squares, and select "Settings."

3. Scroll down and select "About Phone."

4. Tap on "System Updates" and your phone automatically checks for new software. If there's no new software to be downloaded, you'll see a message confirming you are fully updated.

5. Press "Install Now" if there is new software available. The update will download and your phone will restart.

Unlock A Gsm Sim Card

A designated code permanently unlocks a SIM card.

Global System for Mobile Communication, or GSM, is one of two major phone networks in the United States. The other network is CDMA, or Code-Division Multiple Access. GSM technology is widespread in the U.S., but is more prevalent internationally. GSM and CDMA offer some of the same features, but the differences in technology make GSM phones incompatible on CDMA networks. GSM phones use a SIM card, which encrypts personal information allowing a user to jump on a GSM network. Unlocking a SIM card requires an unlock code obtained from the carrier or purchased online. After receiving an unlock code the user can, in some cases, manually unlock the phone. SIM card unlocking methods vary, but there are basic techniques that apply to all GSM-compatible phones.

Instructions

1. Obtain your 15-digit IMEI number by entering #06# using your phone keypad. The IMEI number is also printed on a white sticker attached to the battery carriage. You can find the number under the battery in back of the phone.

2. Obtain an unlock code from the carrier or purchase a code online. AT&T provides an unlock code to current and previous customers if the customer has service for at least 90 days and is current on all payments at the time of the request. T-Mobile usually provides an unlock code, but you may need to obtain it from the phone manufacturer. Depending on the type of phone, you may purchase an unlock code from an online vendor such as Mobile Unlock Solutions, GSM Liberty, or The Travel Insider.

3. Turn off your phone and remove your old SIM card. Insert a SIM card from another carrier. Do not use the SIM card locked to your current carrier.

4. Turn on your phone. Your phone will prompt you to enter the unlock code.

5. Enter the code using your phone keypad. Your phone is now unlocked. You will never have to enter the unlock code into your phone again.

Skype Compatible Mobile Phones

Skype on a cell phone can, in some instances, help people lower their cell bills each month.

Skype Mobile is a software that provides users with free Skype-to-Skype calls as well as unlimited Skype minutes over mobile phones. The tricky thing about this software is that some cell phones don't support it. In fact, most cell phones lack support for Skype Mobile -- but many of the high-end smartphones on the market do feature support for the service, including some popular phone makes and models.

iPhone

Skype Mobile is available, for free, for the iPhone. It includes many of the same features available for the PC version of the service, including Skype-to-Skype and Skype-to-Landline features as well as text-based chat.

Nokia N900

The Nokia N900 runs on a custom operating system from Nokia, the Maemo OS version 5.0. Rather than being a stand-alone cell phone OS, Maemo 5 is a small version of linux that features many of the same options of a standard linux-based platform. Skype has developed a special version of their Skype Mobile service specifically for the Nokia N900 that gives users an almost perfect recreation of the PC-based Skype service.

Motorola Droid & Devour

While not every Android-enabled phone features support for Skype Mobile, Motorola's Droid and Devour phones both support the program. As with the HTC Eris, another Android phone, the Devour and Droid's version of Skype Mobile is equipped with the standard features found on the PC version of Skype.

BlackBerry Phones

Even though the methods of inputting text may be different, several BlackBerry phones support Skype Mobile. Among them are the business-minded BlackBerry Tour 9630, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 and the touchscreen BlackBerry Storm2 9550. Apart from the Storm2's ability to type using a virtual keyboard as well as scroll through contacts, the software works the same across all platforms.

Windows Mobile phones

Over 120 cell phone models running Windows Mobile 6 and above support Skype Mobile. No Windows Mobile phones released after March 1st, 2010 will support Skype, however, as the software company has announced that they will drop all support for Windows Mobile devices due to business reasons.

Push-to-talk phones in use

Push-to-talk service allows cell phone users to connect with one another instantly without having to place calls. 2. Select a push-to-talk service plan that fits your budget. Some carriers include unlimited push-to-talk service with select plans.

Trace Phone Calls To Your Cell Phone

Trace Phone Calls

Have you ever had a call from a number you didn't recognize? Chances are you probably have. We all get those odd calls on our cell phone from phone's we don't recognize. Caller ID will identify the call in most cases, but for the number of growing instances Caller ID doesn't, here are some steps you can take to trace phone calls and see who's calling your cell phone.

Instructions

1. First try the internet. You can do just about anything on the internet these days; using the internet to trace phone calls to your cell phone is the easiest way to do things. Save the phone number in your cell phone to trace when you have time to look up the number. When you get home go to your favorite internet search engine, and type in the entire number (including the area code), include the dashes in the phone number. Often times, phone numbers are listed for business reasons, or simply in the local listings. To trace phone calls to your cell phone, type in the number and look at the top search results. If the phone number matches exactly, it should be assigned to a business or corporation. You should be able to see any matches without actually going to the website.

2. Find an online directory. If you can't trace phone calls to your cell phone using the internet, you're going to have to dig a little deeper. Jump back on the computer and find an online phone directory. The online directory should be able to tell you the city in which the phone is registered, as well as a name to which the cell phone is registered. It may not provide everything you're looking for, but it's a good way to begin to trace a phone call to your cell phone.

3. Try a volunteer directory. If you get lucky, the person that called you will have a registered number and it will be easy to trace their phone call to your cell phone. Sites like the yellow pages will list the phone numbers of those people and businesses who haven't declined for privacy reasons. Often times these websites will just register phone users until you request to be un-registered, so try a volunteer directory if you can't trace phone calls using the other two steps.

4. Find a paid service. If worst comes to worst, you might just have to pay to trace phone calls to your cell phone. Reverse cell phone directories can help you find the number of someone who may have called you-but for a small fee. Look online for different services, and consider whether you really want to pay to trace a that phone call.

Unlock A Nokia 2760h

By unlocking your Nokia 2760H, you can use a SIM card from any network provider. In addition to that, unlocking the phone increases its resale value. Unlocking Nokia phones is a very simple task and does not require any technical knowledge. Although there are a few websites that provide unlock codes for free, they do not guarantee success and you are at a risk of locking your phone permanently upon entering inaccurate codes more than 3 times. For this reason, it is better to go the safe way and get a verified code from a paid website.

Instructions

1. Find out your Nokia 2760H's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. An IMEI number is a 15-digit code, which is specific to each cellular phone. 2. Pick a website that offers unlock codes for Nokia 2760H. You can find links to a few websites in Resources section of this article.

3. Provide your cell phone information to the phone unlocking website. You will be required to fill a form with questions about your network provider, country, IMEI number, and email address. You will then receive the unlock code through email within 24 hours.

4. Take the existing SIM card out of the phone and turn the phone on.

5. Type in #PW+Code+1# on the phone keypad. Enter the code provided by the website. Create the letter P by pressing the * (asterisk) button three times and create the letter W by pressing the *(asterisk) button four times. Create the + sign by pressing the *(asterisk) button twice. Upon entering the code, the phone will show "SIM Restriction Off." If this method doesn't work, go to Step 6.

6. Type in #PW+Code+7#. Create the letters P, W and the symbol + by methods mentioned in the previous step. Upon entering the code, the phone will show "Sim Restriction Off."

Determine The Right Size Tv

When buying a new television, it's tempting to get the biggest one that you can afford. Salespeople pounce and throw around enough impressive terms to make your eyes glaze over. Before you hand over your credit card, you might want to make sure that the new television will actually be a good fit for your needs. You don't want a television so large that you can't enjoy it.

Instructions

1. Measure the room. Find the distance from where you will sit to where the television will be placed. Round up to the next whole foot. Even if the distance is 9 feet and 2 inches, go to 10 feet.

2. Now multiply your distance times four for a general guide to the proper screen size. With the example above, a 10-foot viewing distance makes a 40" screen optimal. Understand that this is a guideline, so a little larger or smaller is OK.

3. Make sure you can bring your new television home. If you are picking it up in person, make sure the television you select will fit into your car for transport home. If not, you can usually schedule delivery, but that will typically cost more. Shopping online will eliminate this issue. For a quick calculator, see the reference link below.

Replace An Iphone Back Cover

Replace an iPhone Back Cover

Apple's iPhone is one of the most popular cell phone devices available. One of its most popular features is its sleek design. The front features a wide front screen, which is perfect for taking pictures, displaying pictures, and showing video. And the back is a sleek, silver cover which helps the device look ultra modern. The only problem is the back cover often becomes dull and scratched up, which can devalue the phone. In order to maintain your iPhone's value and appearance, you may need to change the back cover.

Instructions

1. Power off your iPhone and disconnect it from any power source.

2. Straighten the paperclip out. Push the paper clip into the SIM card hole, which is also the smallest hole, on the top of the iPhone. The SIM card will pop out. Remove the SIM card.

3. Flip the iPhone over to work on the back of it. On the back run a Flathead screwdriver, or other thin flat tool, in the crease between the bottom, black plastic cover and the silver back casing. Then slide off the black plastic cover.

4. Remove the three screws that are connecting the iPhone's silver backing with the mini Philips-head screwdriver. Set the screws to the side.

5. Run the flat head screwdriver along both sides of the back of the case again to loosen the back of the case from the front. Be careful not to bend the back case when doing this.

6. Lift up the back case. You will notice a ribbon connecting the back case to the motherboard. Pop the ribbon up, carefully, with your flat head screwdriver.

7. Plug in the ribbon to your new back cover.

8. Place the back cover down, and screw in the three screws that held the old one in place.

9. Slide the black, plastic cover back on. Your iPhone is now restored.

Use A Data Cable

Data cables are used to transfer information from one device to another. Data cables come in many forms depending on the device. USB and Cat-5 are two of the most popular types of data cables. Cat-5 cables are considered data cables when used between two computers. USB cables can have different ends depending on the device. Using data cables is easy. For most devices, there is only one correct way to connect the data cable, making use much easier.

Instructions

1. Insert any software required to use your device, such as a printer, MP3 player, scanner, PDA and cell phones. This will allow your computer to recognize the device once it's connected. Software will be in a wizard format.

2. Place your device within range of your computer or other device. The range is the data cable length.

3. Locate the proper slots on your devices. The slots will resemble the shape of the connectors on each end of the data cable. If there are two different ends, place each end with the appropriate device.

4. Connect the data cable to your computer and device. In some instances, you may be connecting the cable from device to device, such as cell phone to cell phone to transfer settings. Insert the data cable ends into the slots from Step 3. If you feel any resistance, turn the connector over and try again.

5. Run any required software to connect your devices or allow the devices to connect automatically. If there are any problems, disconnect the cable and reconnect.

Put A Different Sim Card In An Unactivated Tracfone

Use a new SIM card with a deactivated TracFone.

If you have a TracFone that has not been activated but you want to use it, there are a few steps you need to do to protect yourself. You can easily insert a new SIM card from the service provider of your choice into the TracFone, but it will not work on a service network, as it has not been activated. To use your TracFone, you need to active the SIM card and lock it to a service provider's network. This can usually be done from your home computer.

Instructions

1. Insert the SIM card into your TracFone. The SIM card usually goes in behind the battery of the phone in a small SIM card compartment. Since the device is already deactivated, you will not need the unlocking code to activate the device.

2. Write down the phone's IMEI code, which is on a sticker near the SIM card compartment behind the battery. The number is an identification number, which consists of a combination of letters and numbers.

3. Complete a background check on the phone if you are unsure where it came from. If you did not purchase the phone yourself, check the phone to see if it has been stolen. Contact your new service provider and provide the clerk with the IMEI number. If the number is cleared, you can activate the SIM card and phone.

4. Visit your service provider's website and locate the cell phone section that deals with activation. This is often highlighted or made quite visible on the website for new customers.

5. Enter your personal information, including your phone's model, type and IMEI number, to register your TracFone. During registration and activation, you are asked to select your monthly plan and browsing plan for your TracFone.

6. Choose the pre-paid option if you would like this option as well on your new SIM card. The TracFone is originally a pre-paid device. Click "Finish" when you are done selecting your preferences.

7. Wait approximately an hour for your device to be activated on the new SIM card. You can then use your TracFone with the new SIM card.

If you don't have an iTunes account, you'll have to create one before you can purchase any apps, even if they are free.

7. Press the Skype app icon once it's been completely installed on your iPhone and this will convert your iPhone into a Skype phone.

8. Log in to your Skype account.

9. Press "Call" at the bottom, center of the screen, type in a phone number and then press "Call" to make a phone call. Note that non-Skype-to-Skype calls will cost you some money.

Cell Phone Voicemail Ideas

Get creative with your cell phone messages.

When away from their cell phones, most people have a traditional message that leads callers to voicemail; when they have access again, they retrieve their calls and return them. There are creative ways for a message to surprise and entertain callers, but you should think twice about using a comical message if your phone is used for business. Also, some people may be offended by political or religious content.

Be Someone Else

Pretend that you are someone else. You can sound like Britney Spears, Sean Connery, Kermit the Frog, Madonna, Jimmy Stewart, Clint Eastwood or any other celebrity you like. For example, one clever idea from Freephonefun in England has Clint Eastwood saying, "There's no one here but Smith, Wesson and me. I bet you're dying to hang up and not leave a message, but dying ain't much of a living, boy. So make my day." Another from the same website has Jimmy Stewart saying, " Listen carefully. I have only 10 seconds to explain leave a message on one of these machines. Now, the first step is the most important step there is. What you've gotta do is..." Then "Jimmy" stammers while coming to the end of the message.

Choose a Place

Choose an unlikely place from which you will ask someone to leave a message. For example, pretend you are in the White House and you are the President answering his own telephone. Simply say you are the President and ask the caller to leave a message. Or, if you can simulate a Russian accent, make believe you are on a spaceship and are tied up with other details, and give instructions to the caller. There are many clever imaginary settings from which you can leave a message.

Fabricated Circumstances

Think of an unusual circumstance from which a caller will receive your cell phone message. For instance, let's suppose that you've created a message from a church's "confession hotline". After you explain the setup, have the caller give his "confession at the sound of the 'beep'". Or play church music in the background and explain that the person being called is in services, and the caller should leave a message. There are numerous imaginary scenarios from which your message can be given.

Bluetooth Between Phones

Bluetooth Between Phones

Bluetooth technology can be used to connect one phone with another. The main benefit of this is that it gives both phones the ability to send and receive information and data from one another over a powerful and secure wireless network. The phones must first be programmed to recognize each other.

Instructions

1. Put the first Bluetooth ready cellphone in "Pairing" mode. This is the mode that will tell it to search for other Bluetooth devices within a certain range. You can turn on "Pairing" mode by going into your phone's main menu, selecting the option for Bluetooth settings, and selecting the option that says "Pairing" mode. Some model phones may also have a "Discovery" mode.

2. Put the second Bluetooth ready cellphone in "Sync" mode. This will cause the phone to emit a Bluetooth signal that can be recognized by any Bluetooth device in the area. In this case, the signal will be recognized by the first phone.

3. Select the second Bluetooth ready cellphone from the list of devices you are presented with by the first Bluetooth ready cellphone. After a few moments the first phone will present you with a list of devices it was able to recognize; your second phone should be the only device on that list. Select it using your phone's "OK" button and the two phones will be connected to each other as long as they are within range.

Unlock My Samsung Omnia

Unlocking your Omnia

Most popular, cutting-edge cell phones are locked by their manufacturers so they can be used only with a service contract from the designated wireless carrier. Fortunately, it is usually easy to unlock mobile devices for unrestricted use. The Samsung Omnia smart phone, for example, is offered in the United States by Verizon Wireless, but you can unlock your Omnia simply by entering a few numeric codes.

Instructions

1. Press the call button on the Omnia home screen.

2. Dial *7465625*638*#.

3. Enter your three-digit mobile country code (MCC) and the two- or three-digit mobile network code (MNC) for your wireless carrier in the field for "MCC/MNC." For example, the U.S. code for Verizon Wireless is 310012. If you do not know your MCC and MNC, which also serve as the first six digits of your international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI), you should be able to find them with a simple Internet search.

4. Enter 12345678 in the field for "NCK" (network code key).

5. Press "OK" to submit the information.

6. Dial *#7465625#. You should see a message indicating that the network lock for your phone is still active.

7. Dial #7465625*638*#, and then enter 12345678 (the new NCK you entered in Step 4).

8. Repeat Step 6 (dial *#7465625#) to confirm that your Omnia is now fully unlocked.

Unlock A Cell Phone

If you own a cell phone and have ever tried to change service providers, you may have been frustrated to learn that sometimes you are unable to do so without purchasing a new phone. This is because service providers program a code into the phone that locks it to that provider, without giving the owner access to that code. Recent legal rulings allow cell phone owners who have completed their service contracts the ability to unlock their phones. If you encounter this problem, be sure to follow these steps.

Instructions

Steps for Phones Locked by a Service Provider

1. Contact your previous service provider. They will likely sell you the code for a small fee.

2. Search online for programs that will provide this service. You many find that most will charge a fee. In order to do this you may need a cable to connect the phone to the computer. For some phones a cable is not needed and a pass code is used.

3. Buy a SIM card, which is available at most cell phone stores. Put it in and voila! You are now allowed to use your cell phone with any service provider.

Steps for a Phone Locked by the User

4. Carrying a phone in your pocket will sometimes result in the phone accidentally becoming locked.

5. Enter in your PIN to unlock the phone. If that doesn't work, try pressing the numbers 1, 2 and 3 as some providers use this as a default code.

6. Enter in the default password to unlock your phone. Some providers use 1, 2, 3. Other providers use 1, 1, 1, 1 or 1, 2, 3, 4.

7. Take the phone to one of your service provider's stores. They will unlock the phone for you.

Put A Strap On A Nokia 6275i Phone

Put a Strap on a Nokia 6275I Phone

The Nokia 6275i is a relatively basic cellular phone that comes equipped with common features such as a camera and text messaging. Since the phone has an exposed LCD screen, a risk of damage exists. If you own a Nokia 6275i, one way you can prevent damage is by wearing it around your neck or on your wrist. This can be done by attaching a lanyard (strap) to the phone. Various lanyards are available for purchase from many retailers, and they all connect via the hook on the inside of your phone.

Instructions

1. Turn off your Nokia 6275i and turn it over. Remove the back battery cover by gently pressing down and pulling it away from the phone.

2. Remove the battery by gently pulling it out of the compartment. You can also gently tap the phone on the palm of your hand, and the battery will fall out of its compartment.

3. Locate the small hole in the bottom left corner of the battery compartment. This is the hole where you will attach the strap to the phone.

4. Place the end of the lanyard in the hole and thread it around the little hook inside the hole. This may take some concentration, as the hook is very small.

5. Replace the battery once the lanyard is threaded around the hook, and reattach the battery cover. The lanyard is now connected to your Nokia. You can adjust the length by sliding the metal clip at the base of the strap up or down.

Open Credit Vs Line Of Credit

Credit cards are considered open credit, as well as lines of credit.

Open credit and a line of credit are obtained through applying for loans with financial institutions. They help establish credit and increase a credit score, if the accounts are kept in good standing. They differ in their qualifications and limitations.

Open Credit

Open credit refers to your current accounts that are in repayment. Open mortgage loans, credit cards, auto loans, personal loans, even your account with a utility company are types of open credit.

Qualifications For Obtaining Open Credit

Whether a lender gives you a loan depends on credit score, credit history, job stability, income, collateral and other factors. These factors also influence how much open credit or line of credit you'll receive. Credit often is determined by credit score---620 or higher is generally a good score. However, the credit score will be determined somewhat by credit history. Late payments, collections and charge offs can negatively affect a credit score. All of these factors can hurt you when you apply for open credit or lines of credit.

Line of Credit

A line of credit refers to a revolving account, like a credit card account, that allows you to take out or borrow any amount of money needed at any time up to a predetermined amount, or credit limit, that the lender sets on the account.

Qualifications for a Line of Credit

Lines of credit can be secured or unsecured, depending on the creditworthiness of the borrower. An unsecured line of credit does not require anything as collateral and is based on credit score and credit history. Secured lines of credit are based on the value of the collateral, such as a home. For example, some homeowners have a home equity line of credit, which allows them to borrow money based on the equity in their home.

Differences

Open credit is like an installment loan because it does not allow you to borrow more money as the account balance lowers. With a line of credit, however, as the balance lowers, more money can be borrowed on the account up to the credit limit of the account. A line of credit allows you to borrow more money without applying for a new loan.

Install A Garmin Gx50

The Garmin Gx50 was designed for airplanes.

The Garmin Gx50, now discontinued, is a GPS device designed for use in aviation. It features a high-definition moving map display viewable even in sunlight. It is designed to position a plane's proximity to airports, runways and intersections. Pilots can use Smart Keys to operate the device. The Garmin Gx50 must be installed directly into the aircraft.

Instructions

1. Determine where you will mount the GPS.

2. Attach the connectors and the wiring harness to the mounting frame before the actual installation. The Gx50 is specifically designed to mount the avionics stack, located in the aircraft instrument panel so that the pilot can easily view and reach the device.

3. Clear about 1/8 or 1/4 of the area surrounding the Gx50. This will give the unit room for air circulation so it doesn't overheat.

4. Connect the altitude input to either an altitude encoder/converter or an air data converter. This will calculate the altitude of the aircraft.

5. Attach the 15- and 37-pin d-sub and coaxial cable connectors to the rear of the connector mounting plate. The rear connector plate should be connected to the mounting frame prior to installation.

6. Connect the shield grounds to the connector mounting plate.

7. Use a screwdriver to screw in the low-profile heads to install the mounting frame assembly in the instrument panel. Connect support brackets to the rear of the frame directly to the aircraft.

8. Point the clearance dimples upward when installing the mounting tube. Secure the mounting tube to the instrument panel structure by screwing them together with mounting screws. This will allow the unit to slide in and out.

9. Position the Gx50 unit with the front side facing up. Unscrew the cam lock mechanism by turning it counterclockwise and slide it into the frame.

10. Turn the cam lock mechanism clockwise and use your hand to tighten it into position. You can also use a hex screwdriver to tighten the installation. Ensure that the back of the bezel is flush to the mounting tube. If the cam lock is hard to turn, check that the binding and mounting tube have been correctly installed. You have now installed your Garmin Gx50.
