Compare Unlocked Cell Phones

The call quality and Internet connectivity are two things to compare on unlocked cell phones.

Cell phones come in two types: locked and unlocked. You can use unlocked phones on multiple carriers, while locked phones are limited to one carrier. There are several ways to compare unlocked cell phones, including by the network type, cost to buy, and international calling costs.

Cellular Carrier Network Type

Cell phones run on two major types of networks: GSM and CDMA. An unlocked GSM cell phone can work on any other GSM network but will not be compatible with any CDMA network. Similarly, CDMA phones will work with any other CDMA provider but not with any GSM network.

Price

You will pay full retail price for an unlocked cell phone. Compare how much you will need to spend to purchase the phones you consider. For example, the Nokia E71 can cost as much as $310.81 while the Nokia E63 costs $209.10.

International Calling Costs

Unlocked GSM cell phones can make cheap international calls while traveling abroad, while CDMA phones are subject to expensive roaming charges. Because you can interchange SIM cards in unlocked GSM phones, you can purchase a prepaid international card in the country you are visiting instead of being tied to the roaming charges of the American SIM card.

Raise A Duckling

Raise a Duckling

Having a duck as a pet is far more interesting than one of the more traditional animals. But ducklings do require specialized care. For instance, feeding your new duckling the wrong things could disfigure or even kill him. And, failing to provide a safe environment also puts his life and health at risk. However, with the right instruction, most people can successfully raise a duckling as a pet.

Instructions

1. Keep your duckling inside for the first four to five weeks of its life. It can be kept in a cage or playpen, provided the mesh is strong enough not to get pecked. Provide an artificial heat source, such as a heat lamp, if you do not have the mother duck. Clean duck droppings from the enclosure daily.

2. Move your duckling outdoors after five weeks if the weather is warm. Provide it with a shelter from the elements, such as a lean-to or a small dog house.

3. Provide your duck with plenty of fresh water. They are messy drinkers, so clean the water dish daily. Always provide water at meal times, as ducklings need it to wash down their food and can choke without a water source.

4. Feed ducklings prepared feed that has 20 to 22 percent protein for the first five weeks. Game bird starter feed works well for young ducklings. Change the feed to one with 16 percent protein after that time. Game bird grower feed works well for older ducklings.

5. Provide your ducklings with fresh chopped vegetable greens, such as mixed greens or weeds out of your garden, after they have reached five weeks of age.

6. Prepare a water source for your ducklings to swim in after they are four weeks old. A small children's pool works well. Place terracotta planters upside down in the water source to provide a place for the ducklings to rest while swimming.

7. Handle your duckling regularly to get it used to human contact. This will make the adult duck a far more pleasant pet.

Use A Tracfone Sim Card In Another Phone

You can use your SIM card in just about any SIM-based cell phone.

When using a cell phone with a SIM card, all the user information and contacts are saved directly to the SIM card. Without the card inserted, the cell phone is not able to function. It's possible to remove the SIM card from a TracFone and insert it into a different SIM-based cell phone. Doing so allows you to use your TracFone minutes on just about any phone that requires a SIM card as the phone now reads the contact information stored on the newly inserted card.

Instructions

1. Remove the SIM card from the TracFone. The location will differ depending on the TracFone model you are using, but it is usually found behind the battery.

2. Open the phone into which you want to insert the SIM card. Again, the SIM card slot location will vary from model to model.

3. Remove the battery before inserting the SIM card (even if the SIM card slot is not located next to the battery compartment). You need the phone completely powered down when switching out SIM cards.

4. Insert the TracFone SIM card into the open slot, then place the battery back into the phone and turn on the device. The new cell phone now detects the TracFone SIM card. When you dial a number the minutes are subtracted from your TracFone account.

Repair A Power Window That Is Falling Down

Power windows are a standard feature on most vehicles.

Power windows use regulators to help raise and lower the window within the door. With age, the window regulators that hold your window in place can fail, causing your window to fall down into the door of the vehicle. You must then remove the door's interior trim to gain access to the window and repair or replace the regulator.

Instructions

1. Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal cable from the battery. Doing so will prevent the possibility of shock and serious injury from occurring.

2. Open the affected door of the vehicle and remove the interior trim and weatherstripping. You may need a slotted screwdriver and a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the various clips and screws holding the trim in place.

3. Remove any sound-deadening or weather-sealing plastic from the door frame. Remove the window glass pane from the door. Work the glass upward through the door and then use a length of wood to prop the glass in place.

4. Reattach the window to the regulator if the window glass pane was worked loose. If the regulator itself is broken, remove the clips or bolts holding the regulator to the window and the window motor. Remove the window glass pane first, and then remove the regulator, using a ratchet and socket to remove the bolts holding the regulator to the door frame. Slide the new regulator into position and reattach it to both the glass and the window motor.

5. Connect the negative terminal cable to the battery. Turn the vehicle's ignition cylinder to the "On" position and observe the action of the window. Turn the ignition cylinder back to the "Off" position and disconnect the battery once more when finished.

6. Reattach the interior trim and weatherstripping to the door panel. Reconnect the negative terminal cable to the battery and close the hood.

Find The Last Few Calls Dialed

If you need to check the calls made by a particular phone, you can check the numbers from the handset itself, or from the telephone carrier's website. All modern digital landline and cell phones keep a record of the last few incoming or outgoing calls, usually 20 to 30 calls, depending on the model. If the call cycles off the list, however, you will need to get the call record from your carrier. Cellular carriers track all incoming and outgoing calls, while some landline carriers only track outgoing long distance or toll calls.

Instructions

1. Open the main menu on a cell phone and look for an option called "Recent Calls," "Call List" or "Call Log." Most phones allow you to filter between incoming or outgoing calls. Select "Outgoing Calls." Instructions vary depending on the model of phone, so check the instruction manual for specific directions.

2. Check for a redial button on a digital landline phone. If you don't find a redial button, open the main menu and look for a redial option. Some models allow you to cycle through the numbers using the arrow keys on the handset or base unit without pressing an access button.

3. Log in to your account on your carrier's website. Most carriers give you the option to view unbilled calls from your account. Look for a section titled "Recent Calls" or "Call Log." If you don't have an account, create one on the carrier's website.

Convert Wav To Ringtone

Convert WAV to Ringtone

While the WAV format is a common audio codec, it cannot be used to play back ringtones once they have been transferred to cell phones. Most ringtones are formatted in MP3, AAC and M4A formats, which eliminates the use of WAV, as it cannot be read on most cellular devices. Therefore, converting WAV audio into an MP3, AAC or M4A for ringtone playback becomes an option. Web-based converters can be used to expeditiously convert any WAV file to a ringtone format.

Instructions

1. Access a Web-based audio file conversion site. (See Resources for a list of Web-based conversion sites.)

2. Click the "Browse" button located below or next to the file path directory form. A file path directory pop-up box will appear.

3. Locate and select the WAV file you'd like to convert to a ringtone.

4. Click "Open" once you've selected the WAV file, to load it into the Web-based converter. The input format for the loaded file will automatically be changed to WAV. This will indicate that the file has been recognized and identified.

5. Change the output format by clicking the drop-down bar to view the available audio formats for conversion. Select MP3, AAC, or M4A based on the playback compatibility for your phone.

6. Click the "Convert," "Start" or "OK" action to begin the WAV file conversion to a ring-tone audio format. (Wording may vary based on the conversion site you use.)

What Is A Micro Sd Slot

Many cell phones use microSD technology for storing information.

Cellular phones and other portable electronics have many features which necessitate the need for a removable memory storage device. Many of these devices have a slot labeled "microSD." This slot is for a memory storage unit known as a microSD card.

Memory

Regular microSD cards have a memory capacity of 2 gigabytes. microSD cards that have a memory capacity higher than 2 gigabytes are known as microSDHC cards. The use of microSDHC cards is only for devices compatible with this format.

Size

A microSD card is smaller than a miniSD or standard SD card. A microSD card measures 15 millimeters long by 11 millimeters wide by one millimeter thick, and weighs approximately 0.5 grams.

Adapters

Adapter cards are available, which a microSD card can fit into to transfer files to other types of storage units. Not all computers come equipped with a microSD card reader slot, therefore it may be necessary to insert the microSD card into a standard SD adapter card, which would be used with the computer's SD card slot.

Change The Battery Of A Verizon Razr Cell Phone

Even though they're rechargeable, cell phone batteries eventually wear out. If your Verizon Razr cell phone loses its power after just a few hours, it may be time to replace your battery. Anyone can do this--just take your time and follow the steps below.

Instructions

1. Turn off phone. Close flip. Turn phone over so its back is facing you.

2. Remove the back cover. Grasp the cover by placing your finger in the notch at the center of the top. Pull the cover off by pulling the top edge toward you.

3. Remove the battery. Place your fingernail in the notch at the center of the top of the battery. Pull the top of the battery toward you. It should pop right out.

4. Insert new battery. Install new battery so the gold connectors on the battery match up with the gold connectors on the phone. Insert the bottom of the battery first, then snap the top into the phone.

Delete All Text On An Iphone 4

When the iPhone was first released, it came in 4GB and 8GB varieties. This internal memory allowed users to store a high number of text messages in the "Messages" application (initially, up to 1000, now up to 75,000). Because of this, a user can end up with a ton of old conversations stored in the "Messages" application. If you are looking to clean up your texts, you can easily delete entire conversations with a single tap.

Instructions

1. Open the "Messages" application on the iPhone 4's home screen. If the "Messages" app opens to a single conversation, tap the "Messages" back-arrow in the upper-left-hand corner of the app to view all conversations (listed by contact name).

2. Tap the "Edit" button in the upper-left-hand corner. A red circle icon ("Do Not Enter" symbol) will appear to the left of each conversation.

3. Tap the red circle icon. A "Delete" button will appear to the right of the icon. Tap the "Delete" button to delete the entire conversation with the selected contact.

4. Repeat Step 3 until all messages are removed from the "Messages" app.

5. Tap "Done" in the upper-left-hand corner of the application when finished.

Transfer Data From A Nokia 5000 To A Nokia E63

Switching from one cell phone to another may seem like a hectic task to some people, especially if there's large amount of data to be transferred. Data may be in the form of photos, videos, contacts, music, text messages and other important documents. Nokia 5000 has to be paired with Nokia E63 via Bluetooth in order to transfer the data. The task is quite simple, but it may be time-consuming depending on the amount of data to be transferred.

Instructions

1. Go to "Menu," then "Settings," then "Data Transfer" on both the cell phones.

2. Press "OK" and then "Continue" when it asks you to pair phones on both Nokia 5000 and Nokia E63.

3. Press "Yes" to start searching for Bluetooth-enabled devices. On Nokia 5000, select "Nokia E63," and on Nokia E63, select "Nokia 5000." Type a passcode and enter it on both the devices to create a secure connection.

4. Check mark the information type you want to transfer to your Nokia E63 from your Nokia 5000--for instance, pictures, emails, calendar entries and so on. Then, press "OK" to start transferring.

Block An Unknown Number

Calls from unknown numbers are more common than they were a few years ago. Telemarketing companies, creditors and business professionals all employ number blocking services for outbound calls. The problem with this is that it's harder to track someone who's harassing you, or call back telemarketers to tell them to remove you from their call list.

Instructions

1. Talk with your phone company or service provider and find out what number blocking services they offer. Find out if the service is only for the local calling area or if it works with out of area calls, too.

2. Attach an inbound call blocker to your phone, which affects everyone who calls your phone. If the caller knows the code, which they will if you've given it to them, then they can ring through to your phone. If they don't know the code, the call is blocked.

3. Block specific numbers and anonymous numbers using Call Screen. This service activates by pushing *60 on your phone, once the telephone company has put this service on your account. When you get an unknown number you push *60, and a call from that unknown number can no longer ring through.

4. Have the phone company give you Anonymous Call Rejection, or ACR. This blocks all incoming calls that say unknown number, out of area or private. The caller must unblock their phone number before the call rings through.

5. Read through your cell phone manual for services offered on your cell phone. Not all cell phone providers offer an easy way to block calls, because they lose money. But some phones, like the Smartphone, allow users to block unknown numbers and anonymous calls.

Unlock The Tmobile Nokia 6301b

The Nokia 6301B is a simplistically designed phone released in 2008 for the T-Mobile network. If you purchase this phone, it comes with the software locked, which means that it prevents you from using a subscriber identity module (SIM) card from a different mobile carrier. If you wish to change to a different provider or use your phone while traveling abroad you will need to get it unlocked.

Instructions

1. Review T-Mobile's criteria for qualifying to get your Nokia 6301B unlocked for free. You must have purchased the phone from T-Mobile or another registered outlet for T-Mobile phones. The phone must be active for at least 90 days, and you must be using services offered by the T-Mobile network.

2. Dial "*#06#" on the phone to determine your Nokia 6301B's IMEI code. Wait for a second and a 15-digit code appears. Write it down.

3. Call T-Mobile customer support at 800-937-8997 and request a code from the customer service representative. Provide him with your IMEI number.

4. Buy an unlocking code online if you are not qualified for a free unlocking code from T-Mobile. Use the Unlocking, CellUnlockCode, or Foneszone websites (see Resources). You can purchase a code for around $20 as of 2010.

5. Input your email address, IMEI number, make and model of your cellphone and your payment information on the unlocking website of your choice.

6. Check your email account for the unlocking code sent to you. Save the code.

7. Purchase a new SIM card at a local mobile phone store for about $20. Open up the phone casing and take out the battery. Slide the SIM card out and replace it with the new one from a different network.

8. Turn on the phone and enter the unlocking codes when prompted to enter special codes. Click on "OK" and your phone is unlocked to work with a different network.

Sd Vs Mmc Cards

SD and MMC memory cards are both used to save data in a wide range of consumer electronics, including MP3 players, cell phones, digital cameras, camcorders and laptop computers. While MMC and SD cards are very similar cards, with a similar size and use, there are a variety of differences between the two types of memory that make them unique.

Size

Both SD and MMC memory cards measure 32 x 24mm and weigh 1.5g. MMC cards, however, are only 1.4mm thick, whereas SD cards are a slightly thicker 2.1mm. Despite the small size difference, MMC and SD cards will fit in and can be read by the same slot in electronic devices.

Function

Both SD and MMC memory cards are used to save data on portable electronic devices, such as cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras and camcorders. Any device that can use one type card is also compatible with the other.

Transfer Rate

The biggest advantage of SD cards over MMC cards is the transfer rate of the cards. An MMC card can transfer data at 2.5MB per second, whereas an SD card can quadruple that and transfer data at 10MB per second.

Types

There is only one type of MMC card on the market; however, there are a variety of different types of SD cards available. SD cards come in a micro version to fit in exceptionally small electronics, such as cell phones, as well as a high-capacity version (SDHC) that is used in devices such as camcorders and digital cameras, which need to store a great deal of data.

Capacity

MMC cards are available in capacities ranging from a few MB up to 32GB. A standard SD card is available only in sizes up to 4GB; however, high-capacity SD cards can offer storage sizes ranging up to 32GB. SD Extended Capacity cards (SDXC) can hold up to 2TB.

Fix Up & Down Keys On A Nokia 5300

The Nokia 5300 blends phone functionality with musical enjoyment. Unfortunately, problems can develop over time that interfere with your ability to adequately control music or conversation volume using the hardwired keys on the phone's surface. Thankfully, some easy steps can be taken to restore functionality without having to call technical support.

Instructions

1. Clean out the grooves around the volume keys with a toothpick or needle. Using the tip, gently scrape any dirt, pocket lint and built-up skin oils from the crevices. If you hold the instrument at a slight angle, you may even be able to clean underneath the lip of each button. Be careful not to use too much force, as you could break off the button. Once this is done, test whether the keys are working normally.

2. Perform a soft reset on your Nokia 5300 if the issue is still present. Software malfunctions may be at work if cleaning the keys did not restore functionality. To do this, press "*#7380#" from the home screen. The phone will reset to its factory standard configuration and then turn off and back on automatically. When the phone has reloaded, test for resolution.

3. Perform a hard reset if the volume keys still do not function correctly. This will completely erase all information and install a new version of the operating system. Do this by entering in "*#7370#" from the home screen and then pressing "Yes." It will take the device a couple of minutes to complete the reset and reload. Test the functionality of the volume keys once more.

4. Contact your carrier to discuss your options for repairing or replacing your Nokia 5300. Unfortunately, if the keys still do not operate correctly, it is likely due to an internal hardware issue that cannot be fixed by the common end-user.

Unlock The Nokia N95

Most Nokia handsets can be unlocked.

Unlocking a Nokia N95 will enable it to work on all GSM networks. You will have to obtain a code in order to unlock the Nokia. Once the Nokia N95 handset has been unlocked you can insert a SIM card from any GSM network to use their service. Networks such as Verizon, Sprint and MetroPCS do not offer SIM cards, so they cannot be used on your unlocked N95 handset.

Instructions

1. Remove the back cover and battery from your handset and locate your Nokia N95 International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) number. This number is printed on a sticker under the battery. If you cannot see the number clearly, replace the battery and cover, turn on the phone and dial "*#060#" then "OK." A 15-digit IMEI number will display on the screen. You have to give your provider this number in order to obtain the free unlock code.

2. Call your wireless provider and ask for a Nokia N95 unlock code. If they cannot provide you with the code, you can purchase one online from a website like Ggsmliberty.net.

3. Fully charge your handset before attempting the unlock.

4. Dial "#PW+" from the main screen. Your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card must be inserted before dialing this. You can insert your SIM by removing the back cover and battery from your phone and inserting it into the SIM cradle. This is a small rectangular slot that houses the SIM card. Make sure you enter this card contact side down. Then replace the cover and battery.

5. Enter the free unlock code exactly as it was given to you. If you enter this code incorrectly more than a few times you will be permanently locked out of your handset. On most handsets this will happen after entering the code incorrectly three times.

6. Type "+1#." At this point your cell phone should display the phrase "SIM Restriction Off." Next, remove your SIM card and use any carrier's SIM card in the phone.

Format An Sd Card In A Phone

Expand your phone memory with an SD card.

Cell phones have become not only our prime tools for communication, but also our music players and data storage devices. Most cell phones come with the ability to expand their memory capabilities through the use of an SD memory card. You can purchase an SD card in sizes of 512MB up to 8G, whichever you need to make your phone do what you want it to do. When first installing the SD card, it will need to be formatted. The process is simple and, on many phones, it is automated.

Instructions

1. Locate the SD slot on your phone. On some phones the slot is accessible from the exterior and is usually covered with a rubber or plastic cap labeled "SD Memory" or a similar phrase. On other phones, you must open the battery compartment and remove the battery to access the SD slot.

2. Check that the small slide lock on the side of the card is in the "Unlock" or "Off" position. The card will be labeled to tell you which position the slide lock should be in to be unlocked.

3. Slide your SD card into the slot, making sure that the side with the gold-colored metal strips is facing into the phone. If your slot is an exterior one, the slot is designed so you cannot put the card in the wrong way.

4. Turn on the phone and look at the startup screen. Some phones have a "plug-n-play" format in which they will automatically recognize a new SD card and prompt you to format it. Follow the directions on the screen if yours has this function. If not, continue.

5. Open your cell phone menu and go to "Options." Under options, select "Memory," "Media" or "Storage." Different cell phones have the choice labeled differently, so you may need to consult your cell phone manual to find the right menu choice.

6. Select "Format SD." The screen will then prompt you with several choices as to whether you wish to name the card and verifying that you wish to format the SD card. Select "OK" and your cell phone will complete the process of formatting your SD card.

Accept Collect Calls On A Cell Phone For Free

Accept Collect Calls on a Cell Phone for Free

Cell phones are replacing land line phones in some households. One disadvantage of using cell phones as a main source of communication is not being able to accept collect phone calls. Regular cell phone providers usually don't allow collect calls because of not being able to bill the call. To make a call, you are using regular airtime minutes or have a specific calling plan that doesn't include collect calls. Many cell phone providers are making adjustments and providing options for collect calling.

Instructions

1. Accept collect calls through a third party company. Cell phone users can use a third party company like Western Union for accepting calls. You will have to give the caller a toll free number to complete a collect call to your cell phone. The caller will have to give the operator the cell phone number and the operator will contact the owner of the cell phone. The cell phone owner will have to give a check card number or credit card number to receive the collect call to his phone. The operator will connect the call after receiving payment information and the cell phone user will be billed $.25 per minute.

2. Establish a prepaid account with your cell phone provider. Many cell phone providers have a service called "Collect to Wireless" that allows cell phone customers to set up a prepaid account. You can make collect calls by dialing a toll-free phone number, given by the cell phone provider. The caller will have to enter the ten-digit phone number at the prompt and give his name. Cell phone providers usually charge $9.99 for every 20 minute increments of talk time.

3. Use a third party company that allows the use of a calling card. Third-party companies like 800Call4Less allow callers to make calls to cell phones using a calling card or credit card. The company will give customers a toll free number to call when ready to make collect calls. The operator will need the cell phone number and payment information. After receiving a credit card or calling card, the operator will connect the call to the cell phone number.

4. Buy a calling card. Buying a calling card for love ones is an alternative for receiving calls to a cell phone. Cell phone owners are unable to receive collect calls from prison. If you have someone in prison and want to stay in contact, then you can send the inmate calling cards. Calling cards will help to save on phone charges and keep loved ones in contact.

Unlock A Cingular Sim Card

If you have a cell phone with a locked Cingular SIM card, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that unlocking your SIM card is a simple procedure that does not require that you send your phone or SIM card away. The bad news is that it's not free. However, the cost is minimal--less than all but the cheapest cell phone, in fact.

Instructions

1. Find out your phone's manufacturer and model number. Turn off the phone and remove the rear cover. Take out the battery, and underneath you will find a sticker listing the manufacturer and model details. Note this information.

2. Write down your phone's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. This should be listed on the same sticker as the model number.

3. Go to a website that offers cellphone-unlock codes. Examples are listed in the Resources section of this article. You will need to provide them with your cell phone's model and IMEI numbers. The website will charge your credit card to provide you with an unlock code.

4. Enter the unlock code into your phone. If you are not immediately prompted for the code when you turn the phone on, search online for instructions for inputting the unlock code into your particular phone--these instructions vary by brand and model. Once the code is entered and accepted, your SIM card is unlocked and ready for use.

Pair Samsung & Nokia Cell Phones

Using Bluetooth technology, you can make wireless connections between compatible devices like computers and cell phones. This type of connection is useful for sending and receiving items, such as audio/video clips, documents, games, ringtones, themes, images and so on. You can pair both the Bluetooth devices to make subsequent Bluetooth connections quicker. After they are paired once, you don't have to enter a pass code ever again and the devices are automatically connected every time Bluetooth is enabled on both of them and they are within 10 meters (33 feet) distance.

Instructions

1. Enable Bluetooth on the Samsung phone. Go to "Menu" > "Settings" > "Activation" > "On." Also, put it in the discoverable mode by selecting "My Phone's Visibility" > "On."

2. Enable Bluetooth on your Nokia handset. Go to "Menu" > "Settings and Connectivity" > "Bluetooth" > "On."

3. Go back to the main "Bluetooth" menu on your Nokia phone after turning it on.

4. Open "Paired devices" tab.

5. Go to "Options" > "New Paired Device." Your Samsung device will now be shown on the screen.

6. Select the device and enter a pass code (any combination of numbers).

7. Enter the same pass code on your Samsung phone when it prompts for it. After it verifies the pass code, the devices will be paired.

Still Call 911 If You No Longer Have An Active Cell Phone Service

In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission requires all cell phones to retain the ability to dial 911, even if the phone does not have service. Free 911 services are available on analog and digital phones.

Features

When a phone does not have active service, functions like the calendar and contacts will still work. In order to make a 911 call, simply dial 911 as you normally would.

Benefits

Many consumers keep a cell phone for emergency use only, paying expensive activation fees in addition to monthly bills. By keeping an old cell phone for emergency use only, infrequent cell phone users can save on monthly cell phone fees.

Considerations

Even if a cell phone does not have service, you may be able to dial 0 for an operator and place calls that are billed directly to your credit card. While this can get costly, it is still cheaper than entering a cell phone contract.

GPS Location

Many newer cell phones offer GPS services that allow 911 operators to pinpoint your location. If a phone has this option, it will keep working, even if the phone does not have service.

Warning

Even if a phone does not have a number or service contract, it can still be traced by 911 operators. Do not make unintended calls to 911 using a phone without active service.

Design Skull Wallpaper

Designing skull and crossbones wallpaper is easy enough for kids to participate.

Designing wallpaper can seem intimidating, but it is a surprisingly strait forward project. A number of companies are available online that offer personally designed wallpaper. However, if you want to use some previously purchased or old wallpaper, there are even simpler solutions.

Instructions

Using Old Wallpaper

1. Cut out or have made a stencil or stamp of a skull and crossbones. Consider making different sizes.

2. Measure your wall or old paper with a ruler or tape measure and mark it at even intervals with chalk or a pencil so you know where to put your skulls.

3. Using your marks as guides, spray paint over your stencils or dip stamps in paint and press against the paper to make your fun skull pattern.

Create your Completely Original Design

4. Create or find a digital image (or many digital images) of a skull you like. If copyrighted, get permission to use the skull image.

5. Decide which type of wallpaper you want: full wall or a border. If you want to use a full wall of a single color with a single skull design, you will need only the skull graphic. For more complex patterns, you will need to create a symmetrical digital image that can be repeated.

6. Construct the symmetrical image. To do this you will need a make a perfect square with evenly distributed shapes. For example, you might try putting a large skull in the center with a tiny bone or bouquet of flowers on all four sides and have a ribbon making a diamond shape between all of these. Or, you can do simple stripes of horizontal or vertical skulls and crossbones.

7. Use a website that allows you to create personalized wallpaper such as Great Wall Online or Totally Custom Wallpaper. Upload the full image you made or just your skull image. Let the website walk you through the sizing to make your completely original wallpaper.

Flash A Nokia Cell Phone

Flashing a cell phone is a way to enable its use on a variety of cellular service carriers.

If you purchased a Nokia cell phone and then switched cell phone carriers, from Verizon to T-Mobile, for example, you have probably noticed that your cell phone doesn't work with the new carrier. That is because most cell phones, including Nokia cell phones, are commonly programmed to prevent use on any networks other than the one from which you purchased the phone. However, Nokia phones contain SIM cards, making them GSM phones, which allows them to be flashed. Flashing a phone unlocks its ability to be used on other networks which also utilize SIM cards.

Instructions

1. Ensure your cell phone is fully charged. Then, remove the battery cover and battery from the phone.

2. Slide the SIM card out of its cradle. The SIM card is a white data chip that is typically resting in a silver cradle.

3. Write down the 15 digit IMEI number, which is frequently located on a silver sticker on the back of the phone. Commonly, the IMEI number is located near the scan bar on the back of the phone.

4. Return the SIM card to its cradle. Replace the battery and its cover.

5. Call your cellular service provider's customer service phone number. Ask the customer service representative for an unlock code. The customer service representative will likely ask for the IMEI that you obtained in Step 3, so be certain to have that information available when you call. Write down the unlock code.

6. Visit a website, such as Unlock it Free or Trycktill (see Resources) to have an unlock code generated for you if your cellular service provider refuses to provide you with an unlock code.

7. Turn on your cell phone. After it fully powers on, enter "+1#" and press the talk or send button. Input the unlock code that you obtained from the customer service representative or website in Step 5 or Step 6. Do not do anything else until the screen says "SIM Restriction Off" which may take a few minutes to appear.

Repair A Power Window Switch In A Dodge Durango

Many models of the Dodge Durango and other vehicles use power windows in the doors that are operated by switches. Repairing a power switch that doesn't work can be a matter of replacing the switch itself or changing the wiring harness. How much work you have to do depends on exactly what needs replacing. This process can also vary depending on the exact year of your particular Dodge Durango.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the truck's negative battery cable at the terminal, loosening the clamp's nut with your wrench.

2. Pry out the power switch control from the inner door armrest using a trim stick and disconnect the electrical connector in the rear. Skip to Step 8 if this is all you need to replace.

3. Remove the screws for the door's inner trim panel if you need to get to the switch's wiring --- the Durango's screws are usually behind the door handle, behind the pull handle, up near the mirror and along the bottom edge.

4. Pull the panel up and off its clips to remove it, then peel back the plastic water shield.

5. Disconnect the wiring electrical connector from the regulator's motor and feed the wiring out the door.

6. Connect the electrical connector for the new wiring to the window regulator motor and feed it up toward the position of the control switch.

7. Press the water shield into position with its own adhesive and reconnect the inner trim panel with its clips and screws.

8. Connect the wiring to the window switch plate (old or new) and insert the switch controls in position on the trim panel --- usually above the pull handle and to the side of the main handle.

9. Reconnect the battery cable.

People use their iPhones for more than just phone calls.

Disabling iPhone voice mail can be a difficult process, though a worthwhile venture for those traveling abroad wishing to avoid exorbitant roaming charges. Users may choose to forward calls to the iPhone's voice mailbox, where they can be retrieved later, or to deactivate the voice-mail feature altogether.

Instructions

1. Discover the number of your voice mailbox. Type "*#61#" without quotes and press "Call," then write down the number the service gives you.

2. Forward calls to the voice mailbox number. Go to "Settings | Phone | Call Forwarding." Set the voice mailbox number as the number to which calls are forwarded.

3. Disable the voice mail. Type "#004#" without quotes and press "Call." This should deactivate your voice-mail service. You can also choose to forward calls to a different number than the voice mailbox, or selectively enable and disable diverts for "no answer" (type "#61#" without quotes and "Call"), not reachable ("62" without quotes), or busy ("67" without quotes).

4. Reactivate voice mail:

Reactivate voice mail by dialing "*004#"" without quotes and pressing "Call."

5. Call AT&T customer support and request that they deactivate your voice-mail service if you need help doing this.

What Is A Tracfone

What Is a TracFone?

A TracFone is a colloquial term for a cell phone that uses the TracFone service. TracFone avoids the expensive long-term contracts of traditional cellular providers by offering a prepaid service. You only buy a set number of minutes when you need them. As you talk, the minutes are deducted from your account. You can then let the service run out with no penalty, or buy more minutes to continue service. Note all the terms and prices are accurate as of May, 2009.

Signing up

The most convenient way to sign up for TracFone service is through its website with your credit card. It's more economical to buy the packaged phone and airtime card, than buying each individually. For example, a reconditioned Motorola V170 phone plus a 60-minute card costs $19.99, which is the cost of just the card alone. Simply enter your ZIP code for a list of available packages.

Phones

Typical offerings include a $9.99 Motorola W175 with a color screen, hands-free speaker and 35 ringtones. At the high end is a $49.99 Samsung T301G, with all the features of the cheaper phone, plus Bluetooth technology, VGA camera and downloadable media. You can also buy TracFones at many retailers such as Target.

Service

TracFone's prepaid service avoids expensive commitments to long-term contracts. Instead, you add airtime for a specified amount of airtime as needed. You can buy airtime cards at many retailers and add service by entering the card code into your phone. More conveniently, you can buy for prepaid airtime on the TracFone website by entering your phone's serial number and using a credit or debit card. After you've selected a block of minutes, the website automatically adds them to your phone. The number of minutes you have left appear on your screen. Note that as long as you renew service before the time expires, your unused minutes roll over to the next service period.

Costs

The lowest airtime card offers 60 minutes for 90 days of service. At $19.99, it costs the most per minute, at 34 cents. The most expensive "One Year, Double Minutes" card cost $124.99 but boasts 800 minutes for 365 days, or 16 cents a minute. Additionally, it doubles all minutes on any future card purchases. You can also buy a separate "Double Minutes For Life" card at $24.99, which doubles minutes on all future card purchases.

International

TracFone calls does not charge extra for international calls. In other words, long-distance calls to such countries as France, Mexico and Australia costs the same as calling your neighbor. For a complete list of the 60 free countries, see the TracFone website. In addition, its "International Neighbors" plan enables you to create three Mexican or Canadian local phone numbers. Residents of those countries can then call you for the price of a local call. You are also charged your regular rate. All these options are included for free in your service. TracFone does not offer international roaming; the phones only work within the United States.
