Instructions

1. Cut two pieces of 4-inch straw tubes using a pair of scissors. Cut the straws lengthwise to separate the tubes and create four half tubes.

2. Stack the half tubes. Trim, if necessary, to ensure the half tubes are of the same length and width.

3. Line up the tubes and tape them together using masking tape. Then, make a diagonal cut, starting at one end approximately one third of the way in from the side. Continue cutting down to the tube's far corner. Remove the large part of every half-tube in the stack while cutting. These will now become the "blades" of your wind turbine model.

4. Fan the blades out making a circle and see to it that the blades do not overlap. Use glue to keep the blades in position and leave it for 2 to 3 hours to dry.

5. Make the tower or base of your wind turbine model. Take a fresh piece of straw and split the end of the straw into four pieces and bend them outward like flower petals. Glue the petals onto your cardboard to allow the straw's shaft to stick upwards.

The Samsung A117 is a compact, flip-top phone that was released in 2009. It was created for AT&T's prepaid service. It is web-enabled, has decent call quality and good battery life. Instructions

1. Find a site that sells unlock codes for the Samsung A117. Three that you can use are Unlocking.com, UnlockitNow.com and GSMLiberty. As of 2010, these codes cost between $11.99 to $29.99.

2. Dial the code "*#06#" into the keypad of your Samsung phone. A 15- to 17-digit alphanumeric code will appear. This code is your serial code, also known as your international mobile equipment identification code or IMEI number.

3. Enter the IMEI number into the site where you are purchasing your codes. Select Samsung as the maker of your phone and choose A117 for the model. Under country, choose United States, and for the service provider select AT&T. Enter your name, e-mail address and your payment information. Expect to receive your codes in one to two days.

4. Turn your Samsung off and remove the battery. Take out the SIM (subscriber identity module) card and replace it with one from another cell phone provider. Replace the battery, and turn your Samsung on.

5. Enter the code that you received in your e-mail. Click the "OK" button in the middle of the handset. The phone will restart and the logo of the new service provider will be at the top of the screen.

Use A Cd Player Using An Old Cdrom Drive & A Power Supply

CDs provide excellent music reproduction.

An advantage of the CD disc format is that the basic mechanism is the same whether it is a CD player being used in a home theater or a CD-ROM drive attached to a computer. You can listen to CD's on an old CD-ROM drive without needing a computer once the drive has been modified. The modification does not require electronic skill, although you will need to wrap some electric wires together. You will need a few parts from a hardware store and a pair of portable powered stereo speakers to modify the CD-ROM drive.

Instructions

1. Put newspaper down on a work surface. Put the CD-ROM drive down on the newspaper. Put the power supply down on the newspaper.

2. Cut off the green wire from the small square white connector of the power supply using the wire cutters.

3. Cut off the black wire closest to the green wire from the small square white connector of the power supply using the wire cutters.

4. Strip off 1/2 inch of insulation from the green and black wires using the ruler to measure the wires and the wire strippers to strip the insulation off of the wires.

5. Strip off 1/2 inch of insulation from the black and red wires attached to the toggle switch using the ruler to measure the wires and the wire strippers to strip the insulation off of the wires.

6. Wrap the black wire from the toggle switch around the black wire from the small square white connector of the power supply. Wrap electrician's tape around the wiring.

7. Wrap the red wire from the toggle switch around the green wire from the small square white connector of the power supply. Wrap electrician's tape around the wiring.

8. Insert the small square white connector into the power socket on the back of the CD-ROM drive. Insert the plug of the power supply into a wall socket for power.

9. Place the portable powered stereo speakers next to the CD-ROM drive, with one speaker on each side.

10. Plug one end of the minijack-to-minijack audio cable into the audio output on the back of the CD-ROM drive. Plug the other end of the mini-jack-to-mini-jack audio cable into the audio input that is on one of the two portable powered stereo speakers.

11. Press the "On" switch that is on one of the two portable powered stereo speakers. Flip the toggle switch to provide the CD-ROM drive with power.

12. Press the "Eject" button on the CD-ROM drive to eject the disc tray. Place a CD music disc onto the disc tray.

13. Press the "Eject" button again to close the disc tray. Listen to the audio from the CD music disc as it plays in the old CD-ROM drive and is heard coming out of the portable powered stereo speakers.

Still, you can unlock your Verizon phone, and use it on another mobile carrier's network.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Verizon phone. Go the "Settings" menu, and scroll until you see "SIM card." Click on it to get into the next screen. Type in "MEPD" (without the quotation marks) while pressing on and holding the "Shift" button. On the next screen, you'll see five locking categories.

2. Press on and hold the "Shift" key continuously with one hand, and type in "MEP2" (without the quotation marks) with the other hand. When you release the "Shift" key, you'll see a prompt to enter the unlock code.

3. Enter the unlock code carefully. You'll only have a limited amount of attempts before the phone locks you out. When you're sure that you've entered the correct unlock code, press on the "return/enter" key. Your Verizon phone is now unlocked, and you can use the phone with another mobile carrier.

1. Open your Nokia flip phone and go to the Main Menu. The Main Menu option ia right on the screen when you flip your phone up. The button on your phone that goes straight to it is usually the Left or Right soft keys.

2. Scroll over to the Messaging section once you've entered the Main Menu. This is the place where you find your text messages, voice mails and video messages.

3. Find the Messages Settings section inside the Messaging part of the Main Menu. This category allows you to delete messages, change the font size and see quick text options, as well as write in a text signature. When you scroll down to this Messages Settings section, press "OK" to open it.

6. Use the iPhone's on screen keypad to enter the headset's PIN. The PIN, or pairing passkey, is set by the headset manufacturer. Many headsets use "0000" or "1234." see your headset's guide for details.

Unlock A Nokia 6500 With A Data Cable

Nokia's 6500 Classic is an entry-level, candy-bar-sized cell phone, released in 2009 on several networks as a standard calling phone. If you want to keep your 6500 Classic useful and unlock it to use on another network, either to avoid roaming charges or to consolidate plans, ask your network for a free unlock code first. If denied, pay a fee of $15 or more (as of December 2010) to any of several unlocking software vendors. Choose one, and then unlock your Nokia 6500 by plugging it into your computer and following the prompts.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Nokia 6500 and your computer and navigate to your email in box. Select the message from the unlocking software firm you have chosen such as 3gunlock.com or Gsmliberty.net. Write down any password the message provides, and then click on the link in the message for the unlocking program.

2. Click "Download" when redirected to the unlocking program. Enter any password requested, and agree to terms and conditions.

3. Follow the program's prompts to detect your phone via data cable and unlock it. It should reboot automatically when the process is completed.

Flash a Sprint phone to work with another CDMA device.

Sprint phones work via a Code Division Multiple Access cell phone network. If you desire to use your cell phone with another network provider, you need to use a company that also uses CDMA technology rather than GSM technology used by companies such as T-Mobile. To flash a Sprint phone, take out the Sprint PCS programming and insert the programming of the CDMA cell phone provider to whom you switch. To complete this procedure also known as flashing, you need a USB connection and the correct software.

Instructions

1. Sign onto the Sprint web page (see "Resources"). Click the "Export" function and then select "Export Contacts." Click the "Save" option to store this data on your computer.

2. Call a store in your city for the new CDMA company to whom you want to switch. Tell them that you plan to flash your cell phone to their company.

3. Sign onto the CDMA cell phone company's backup system. Click on the "Import Contacts" tab. Follow the directions on your screen to select the file you recently made and import it into the application. Adhere to the words on the screen to complete the sync process with your Sprint cell phone address data.

4. Call Sprint to terminate your customer agreement (see "Resources").

The Motorola Bluetooth EDR is a wireless earpiece used with any Bluetooth-enabled cell phone. This allows you to communicate over your phone without actually holding the phone up to your ear. However, the only way you may test the Motorola Bluetooth EDR is if you pair the headset to your cell phone and make a phone call.

Instructions

1. Power on the Motorola EDR and your cell phone.

2. Push the "Menu" button on your cell phone, then choose "Options," "Bluetooth" and turn the option "On." The cell phone begins to look for all the Bluetooth devices in the area. Choose the Motorola EDR when it appears on the screen.

3. Type in the four-digit pair code found in the user manual of the Motorola EDR (there is no exact number for each device). Press "OK" and the cell phone connects to the Motorola EDR.

4. Insert the Motorola EDR into your ear, then choose a contact form your contact list and choose "Call." The phone ringing plays over the Motorola headset, and once the individual answers the call, all of the audio plays through your Motorola Bluetooth EDR.

Skype is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application that allows users to instant message and make voice and video calls over the Internet. The Droid is a touchscreen smart phone that has the specifications to run Skype mobile. Once the Skype application is downloaded on the phone, it can be used just like the application on a regular computer.

Instructions

1. Launch the Droid web browser, then navigate to skype.com/m. Download the application from the Android Market. Once the download has completed, Skype will immediately be ready for use. Alternatively, you can obtain Skype by entering your phone number on the Get Skype Mobile webpage (see Resources.)

2. Navigate to the Skype application on the Droid, then select it to open it.

3. Enter your Skype user name and password in the application login screen.

4. Select "Contacts," then choose a contact. Select "Call" from the menu to initiate a call. Select "End" to stop the call.

Google Voice is a free application for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to place free calls to U.S. and Canada landlines and mobile phones. International calls are available with a low rate-per-minute plan. With Google Voice, you can initiate your call from your account that then rings your designated telephone to continue the process. There are two choices for phones: Google Chat or a regular phone. Google Chat, synonymous with Google Talk, is available within Gmail, iGoogle and orkut. It lets you text-, voice- or video-chat with other Gmail users over the Internet.

Instructions

1. Log in to your Google Voice account.

2. Click on the "Call" button.

3. Type a contact name or phone number into the "Call" text box.

4. Select the phone you want to use to make the call from the "Phone to ring" drop-down menu.

5. Check the "Remember my choice" box to save the selection.

6. Click the "Connect" button to start the call. Google Voice will ring the designated phone. Pick up your phone and wait for the other person to answer.

USB cables are used to transfer data.

Most computers today can connect with cell phones through a USB cable and port. But if a USB cable isn't handy, or perhaps the cable is missing from the cell phone kit, you can still transfer data from your cell phone to a computer. Alternatives to USB cable are usually available for computers and cell phones. You can either transfer data using your cell phone's memory card, or via Bluetooth wireless technology. 1. Bluetooth generally uses the same switch you use to wirelessly connect to the Internet.

Switch on Bluetooth on your laptop. This is usually done by using a switch on one side of the laptop.

2. Navigate to the file on your cell phone that you wish to transfer, and use the options available to send the file through Bluetooth. The option will be something like "Send via Bluetooth" or "Transfer." When asked if you want to turn on Bluetooth, accept.

3. Allow the transfer process when prompted by your computer. The pop-up message will ask something like, "A device is attempting to send a file to your computer. Do you accept?" After you accept, the transfer of the file should occur.

4. Computers other than laptops usually need a Bluetooth adapter.

Buy a Bluetooth adapter, sometimes referred to as a "dongle," for your computer. Computers other than laptops usually do not have Bluetooth capability by default, in which case the adapter is needed.

5. The adapter's installation software will usually be on a CD.

Install the software supplied with the adapter on your computer. The software is usually on a CD or a DVD and goes into your CD-ROM/DVD drive. Insert the disc and follow the on-screen instructions. Once the software has been installed, reboot your computer.

6. Navigate to the file on your cell phone that you wish to transfer, and use the options available to send the file through Bluetooth. The option will be something like "Send via Bluetooth" or "Transfer." When asked if you want to turn on Bluetooth, accept.

11. The card reader should identify the inserted memory card. Navigate to the memory card reader folder and transfer the files to your computer.

Norbsoft's Mobile Toolbox is a mobile phone application that includes a stopwatch, timer, value converter, graphics and games. If you want to switch network providers, you must unlock your mobile phone to use Mobile Toolbox. Many third-party websites and businesses provide unlocking services, but the easiest way to unlock your phone is through your network provider.

Instructions

1. Enter "*#06#" (without quotes) using your phone's keypad. Press the "SEND" or "CALL" button. This gives you your mobile phone's 15-digit IMEI number. Write it down and keep it in a safe place.

2. Call your network provider. The phone number should be on the website or your last monthly statement. Ask the representative for an unlock code. She will probably ask you to provide your IMEI number and verify your account number, full name and street address. Write down the unlock code. This service will probably include a fee.

3. Remove the protective cover from the back of your mobile phone. Take out the battery and your old SIM card. The SIM card will be located under your battery. It looks similar to a computer microchip. Lift up the SIM card with your fingernail.

4. Insert your new provider's SIM card. Listen for a snap, which lets you know that it is in place. Replace the battery and protective cover.

5. Turn on your mobile phone. Enter the unlock code. Press the "OK" button. Your phone will activate to the network.

6. Press the "MENU" button. Using the navigational buttons, go to "Media Files." Highlight the Mobile Toolbox with the navigational buttons. Press "OK" to launch it.

Cellular phones that follow the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) standard can be either locked or unlocked. A locked cell phone is tied to a specific network and will not work with a Subscriber Information Module (SIM) card from a different network provider. Unlocked cell phones, on the other hand, will work with a SIM card from any cellular provider. Unlocked cell phones are more common in Europe and Asia. Most American GSM carriers, however, sell primarily cell phones tied to their native networks. If you have bought an unlocked cell phone, either from a carrier or a third-party supplier, setting up the unlocked cell phone is very easy.

Instructions

1. Install the SIM in the phone. On most phones, the SIM is located under the battery. To access the SIM slot, you will need to remove the battery cover and the battery. However, some modern phones have a SIM slot elsewhere on the phone, such as the side or the top. This is to make switching SIMs more convenient.

2. Put the battery back in the phone, if your SIM slot was under the battery.

3. Place the cover back on the phone.

4. Plug the phone in to charge the battery, if it has not been charged.

5. Power the phone on. The SIM card will configure your phone's cellular and data network connections to suit the carrier's requirements.

1. Find compatible Bluetooth devices. There are plenty of devices with which you can use a Bluetooth headset, including computers, netbooks, cell phones and even the PlayStation 3 game console. Although you can have your Bluetooth headset linked to only one device at a time, you can switch which device your headset is synced to whenever you want.

2. Sync your headset to these devices. Although specific sync procedures will vary from model to model, they all have the same basic steps. Put your device in discovery mode, and then put your headset in sync mode. Once the two devices find each other, a link is made, which allows them to interact.

3. Program voice commands. If you are using a Bluetooth device with a cell phone or computer, you can program it to launch certain applications. For example, most Bluetooth-enabled phones have a "call" button that involves pressing a button to establish a link to the phone. Then a command can be issued like "Call Home" in the case of a phone or "Open Browser" for a computer. To program these commands, open your phone or computer's voice command utility and follow the instructions specific to the device.

Fix Your Laptop When It Echoes

Laptops come with built-in speakers linked to a sound card that is integrated into the motherboard. Some sound cards can simulate audio effects, like reverberation, which can cause an echo when playing sound on the laptop. Outdated or corrupt drivers can also produce an echo, especially if a bug exists in the driver code. To fix an echo when playing sound on a laptop, you'll need to turn off all sound effects and then reinstall or upgrade the device driver.

Instructions

1. Click the Windows "Start" menu and select "Control Panel." Go to "Hardware and Sound." Click "Sound." Select the speaker device from the "Playback" tab and click the "Properties" button.

2. Go to the "Enhancements" tab. Select each option in the list, reading the description below to see if the setting could be causing the laptop speakers to echo. Options like "Environment" and "Reverberate" can cause an echo.

3. Uncheck an option to disable it. If you are unsure which option might be affecting the speakers, check "Disable All Enhancements." Click "OK" to close the Speaker Properties tab. Click "OK" to close the Sound tab.

4. Test the audio on your laptop to check for an echo. If the echo still exists, go back to "Control Panel" and type "device" into the search box located at the top right of the window.

5. Click "Device Manager" and expand "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Right-click the sound adapter and click "Uninstall." Restart the computer to reinstall the device driver for the sound card.

6. Check the audio playback after restarting the computer. If the echo persists, browse to the laptop manufacturer's website, look up the laptop model on the support page and click the "Drivers" or "Downloads" link.

7. Download the latest sound card driver from the website. Wait for the file to fully download. Double-click on the file when the download is complete to upgrade to the latest driver.

2. Click the Help menu at the top of the window, and then select License Management. A window titled "Welcome to the License Wizard" appears.

3. Click the "Activate Product" radio button.

4. Click the field next to "Activation Code," and type the code that Avira sent to your email address when you purchased AntiVir Premium. You may find it helpful to copy and paste the code from the activation email to avoid a typing error. Nokia 5230 Gprs Usage Check

The Nokia 5230 is compatible with GPRS technology, which lets users browse the Internet. GPRS usage should only be turned off if you don't need to access your Web browser or any applications that communicate with a server. If you go out of range of the GPRS network, your connection may not work even though you have enabled GPRS usage.

GPRS

GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Services. The wireless connection affords Internet access to the Nokia 5230 by sending packets of data to and from a network. Without GPRS, you won't be able to navigate websites on your cellphone. The settings for GPRS in a Nokia 5230, such as the access point name for your wireless provider, are automatically programmed into the device at the time of purchase.

GPRS Usage

The GPRS setting on your Nokia 5230 is turned on by default, but users are allowed to turn the service off. The main reason to turn off GPRS usage is to conserve your phone's battery life. The exchange of data packets depletes the battery on the phone more quickly than just using telephone capabilities. You might also turn off GPRS because you are going into a rural area and don't want the phone to roam for data connection, which can be quite expensive.

Checking Usage

You can check whether or not your device is currently using GPRS by going to the "Video Center" screen and choosing "Options" and then "Settings." In the "Connection Settings" portion of the menu, choose "Confirm GPRS Usage." From that "Confirm GPRS Usage" screen, you will see whether or not the setting is on, and toggle the setting between the "On" and "Off" icons. When you toggle GPRS to the "Off" position, your Web browser immediately becomes disabled.

EGPRS

If you see two lines with an "E" above them on your homepage, the device is connected to an EGPRS network. EGPRS is an enhanced GPRS network, also called an EDGE network, that increases the speed of data transmission on your phone. It affords you faster website loading and file downloads. Your Nokia 5230 will automatically use EGPRS when you are in an area that offers it, provided GPRS is turned on. If you disable the usage of GPRS, you are also disabling the use of EGPRS for transferring data.

Loading JAD and JAR (installer packages) to your BlackBerry 7100i allows you to install the software or theme that is embedded in the file. Region codes are built into DVDs and DVD players. Depending on where in the world they are used, the codes control whether the disc and player will operate. Insignia DVD players can be unlocked so that it will play a DVD regardless of the region code. No special hardware is required, nor do you need to have any expertise in how region codes or DVD players work. Returning the player to a locked state also is possible.

Instructions

1. Press the remote control's "On" button to turn on the DVD player. Press "Open/Close" to open the disc tray.

2. Press the "Setup" button. Enter the following numeric keys in this order, pressing each key once: 2, 2, 5, 4, 2, 2.

Qualcomm is an electronics manufacturing company that has been making parts for mobile devices since the early 90s. Many mobile phones, PDAs and smartphones use technology developed by Qualcomm. This includes everything from circuit boards to processors to antennas. Disassembling your Qualcomm phone allows you to repair, replace and troubleshoot hardware inside your phone. Doing so may void your phone's warranty.

Instructions

1. Hold down your phone's power button for about three seconds until the device powers off. Place the phone face down on a flat surface. Remove the back cover and the battery revealed by the cover.

2. Remove all Phillips-head or Torx screws from the back of the phone. This includes any screws fastening the back casing and main circuit board in place. Use a thin flathead screwdriver, guitar pick or credit card to pry the back casing from the rest of the phone. This reveals the entire circuit board.

3. Remove the remaining screws fastening the circuit board in place. Disconnect all cables from the circuit board. Be gentle when disconnecting these cables. It is easy to break the circuit board if you're not careful. If this happens, your phone may not work.

4. Lift the circuit board out of the phone's casing carefully. Disconnect any ribbon cables from the connectors on the opposite side of the board. Remove the circuit board from the phone.

5. Remove any remaining screws fastening the LCD screen and keypad to the phone's front casing. Remove the LCD screen and keypad from the phone.

Instructions

1. Turn on the Nokia 6010 and press *#06#. Write down the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number that the phone displays.

2. Call your service provider's customer service line and request an unlock code for your phone. The service provider will ask for the IMEI number and then give you the unlock code for your particular phone. Write down the unlock code.

5. Type the unlocking sequence appropriate for your service provider. For phones connected to the T-Mobile network, type #pw+CODE+1# (where CODE is the unlock code provided by T-Mobile). For phones connected to the AT&T network, type #pw+CODE+7# (where CODE is the unlock code provided by AT&T). When you have finished entering the code, the phone displays the message "Network Lock Deactivated."

6. Turn the phone off and replace the SIM card. Restart the phone.

1. Buy a new LCD screen. The exact model number is 3F2098. Remove the protective film before you begin the replacement process.

2. Open the battery access door, remove the batteries and the memory card.

3. Place the camera face-down on a white piece of printer paper, and remove the two Phillips-head screws on the bottom. Then remove the two Phillips-head screws on the right side, and then the single Phillips-head screw on the left side of the camera.

4. Use a thin razor blade to pry open the camera at the crease in the middle. Remove the back of the camera and set it aside.

5. Pry off the black pad on the left-hand side of the LCD screen with a razor blade and place it on the left-hand side of the new LCD screen.

6. Flip the old LCD screen back to gain access to the ribbon cable connected to the camera's logic board. Use a small flathead screwdriver to depress the tabs on either side of the ribbon cable. Disconnect the ribbon cable from the logic board and set it aside.

7. Connect the new LCD screen's ribbon cable by pushing gently on the black cable clips until the ribbon cable snaps into place and is firmly connected to the logic board.

8. Place a small piece of double-sided tape on the side of the interior side of the LCD screen, and then place the LCD screen carefully inside the camera.

9. Re-assemble the camera by following steps one through seven in reverse order.

Make a Conference Call

1. Open Skype and log in with your user name and password.

2. Click the Contacts tab in the main section of your Skype window.

3. Find your friend's contact information and double-click the name.

4. Find another friend from your contacts list whom you'd like to invite to your conference call. Right-click his or her name and select "Invite to Conference" from the menu that appears.

5. Alternatively, invite multiple contacts to a conference call at the same time by clicking each contact name as you hold down the Ctrl (control) key. Once you have selected the contacts you'd like to invite, click the "Invite Selected Contacts to Conference Call" button.

6. Another way to create a conference call on Skype is to select the contacts you'd like to talk with. Hold down the Ctrl key as you click on multiple names.

7. Click "Tools" on the horizontal menu along the top of the application window.

8. Select "Create a Conference Call." Choose any additional contacts you'd like to invite via the menu that appears.
