Install A Sim Card In A Motorola Razr Cellphone

Installing a SIM card in your Motorola RAZR is a simple task.

Your Motorola RAZR mobile phone requires a SIM card to operate. If the SIM card is missing, you won't be able to make or receive calls. Some mobile networks use SIM cards to manage subscribers' accounts and keep track of charges. Swapping out the SIM card in your RAZR cellphone and installing another is a straightforward task that you can accomplish in just a minute or two.

Instructions

1. Turn off the Motorola RAZR. Do not remove the battery while the phone is powered on. Once the phone is off, remove the battery cover from the back of the device. Then, lift the battery up with your finger and remove it from the phone.

2. Handle your SIM card carefully. Do not bend or scratch the SIM card. Don't expose it to moisture or static electricity.

3. Look inside the open battery compartment. If an existing SIM card is installed in the RAZR, you will be able to see it now. It is held in place by a retention strap. Be careful not to break the retention strap. Gently slide the SIM card up and out of the card slot.

4. Insert the new SIM card into the phone. Reinstall the battery, slide the cover back into place and turn the phone back on.

Skype Installation For Ipods

Headphones can improve your Skype call quality.

Skype, which was originally available only for use on computers, is now available for use on mobile devices such as iPods. In order to use Skype on your iPod, you will need to have an iPod Touch model. After you install the program, you can use it for text and audio functions and, depending on the model, video conferencing.

Internet

Before you can install Skype on your iPod, you will need a strong wireless Internet connection. In order to connect to the Internet, browse to the "General Settings" menu and choose the network from the "Wi-Fi" list. You may need to enter a password to join a closed network. The stronger your signal is, the faster the program will download and the quicker the service will be once you have installed the application.

Application

To use Skype on an iPod, you will need to download the application. Browse to the App Store, which will come already installed on iPods. Search for Skype, click on the listing and click the "Free" button. Your iPod will ask you to enter your Apple ID password before the download starts. When it is complete, the Skype icon will appear on your iPod screen as a blue S on a white and blue background.

Before you can make calls and send messages, you will need to log in to the Skype application. Click on the icon to launch Skype and enter your username and password. If you don't have one, you will be given the option to "Create Account" at the bottom of the screen. After logging in, you will be brought to a window which displays your contacts.

Adding Credit

Sending instant messages, calling other Skype users or having video chats are free when you are logged in. If you want to make calls to phones, receive calls or send text messages to phones, you will need to add credit from your Web-based Skype account. Add a set amount of money to be charged by the minute, buy a call-in number or subscribe to a monthly calling plan.

Using Skype

Skype has text, audio and video capabilities, and your type of iPod Touch will determine which you can use. For an older iPod Touch, which does not have a built-in video camera or microphone, you can send text messages or instant messages without any additional equipment. If you add a microphone attachment, you can make audio and one-way video calls if the other person has a video camera. If you have a newer iPod Touch, you will be able to send and receive audio, video and text immediately.

Unlock The Nokia 6790 Surge

Many carriers sell their phones with lock codes that prevent the phone from using a different network. For GSM phones like the Nokia 6790 Surge, this restriction comes in the form of a SIM lock, also called a subsidy password. Until you enter the lock code, the phone will not work with another carrier's SIM card. You can unlock the Surge to any network by removing the SIM and entering the lock code with a special key combination.

Instructions

1. Obtain the lock code for your Nokia Surge. You can purchase the lock code from a cellular unlocking service or get it from your cellular carrier. Some carriers have criteria your account must meet in order to give you the code, such as the account being active for a certain length of time.

2. Turn off the Surge and remove the battery cover. Press the battery release button on the bottom edge of the phone, remove the back cover and lift the battery from the top. Set the battery and battery cover aside.

3. Slide the SIM card bracket toward the left edge of the phone, lift the bracket and remove the SIM. Close the bracket and reinstall the battery and battery cover.

4. Power the phone on with no SIM card. The phone will show a message stating no SIM is installed.

5. Type "#PW+LOCK+1#" with your lock code replacing LOCK. For example, if your code is 1234568, type "#PW+12345678+1#" on the keypad. Press the "*" key quickly three times for P, four times for W, and twice for +. For Fido or Rogers Canada, use "7" instead of "1."

6. Wait for the phone to show "SIM Restriction Off" and reboot. You can now use the Surge with any SIM card.

Use Wifi In A Cell Dead Zone

It's possible to find a Wi-Fi signal in a cell dead zone.

Although cell phone towers and wireless routers allow you to send and receive calls with your cellphone and access the Internet on a laptop computer, these two technologies are not directly related. As such, it can be occasionally possible to find and use a Wi-Fi signal while you're in a cell dead zone.

Cell Zone

Cellphone towers and antennas are located throughout the United States to give cellphone users as large a zone of coverage as possible. If you live in a city, it's relatively uncommon to come across a cell dead zone because of the number of cellphone towers and antennas in the city. These towers and antennas each create cell zones that overlap. Occasionally, when you're in the specific location directly between two cell zones, known as a "dead zone," you'll temporarily lose your signal. Dead zones are uncommon in large cities; a 2010 article in "The Wall Street Journal" showed New York City, Dallas, Chicago and Seattle cellphone users have at least a 97 percent call completion rate.

Wi-Fi Zone

An area that has Wi-Fi coverage is not related to a cellphone coverage zone. If an area has Wi-Fi coverage, it's because a wireless router in the area is transmitting a signal. Unlike cellphone signals, which cover vast areas, wireless routers send smaller signals, and it's most common to only find Wi-Fi signals inside buildings or directly outside them. If you were in the middle of a forest that was a cell dead zone, for example, it would be almost certain that you wouldn't have a Wi-Fi signal, either.

Connecting

You can look for Wi-Fi in any given area with a laptop computer, tablet or electronic device such as an iPod touch. The methods you use to determine if Wi-Fi is in the area vary slightly according to the device, but you can typically check the device's "Wireless" option to see if any Wi-Fi networks are available. Some Wi-Fi networks are open, meaning anyone can use them, while others are protected by a password.

Zones

If you find yourself in a cell dead zone, and are not located in an extremely remote area, keep moving until your cellphone network once again has coverage. Often, you will not have to move far for the coverage to return. If you're in an urban area and are looking for a Wi-Fi zone, you'll often receive multiple signals regardless of where you are. Many of these signals will be password protected, but common areas such as malls, coffee shops and airports typically have free Wi-Fi.

Enable Bluetooth Headphones

Pairing is usually a one time process.

Bluetooth headphones can be used with Bluetooth enabled phones to give you hands free functionality of your call features. To enable Bluetooth headphones, you must first pair them with another device. Pairing involves placing your headphones in discovery mode and allowing your phone to locate them. Information is exchanged, and your phone will then store the headphones as a trusted device. If you're just taking your headphones out of the box, you'll want to charge them fully before you pair them. Charging usually takes about two hours.

Instructions

1. Remove the headphones from the charging source (if applicable.) Do not power on the headphones.

2. Power on the device with which you wish to use your headphones. Ensure Bluetooth connectivity is set to "On."

3. Press and hold the "Power" or "Call" button on your headphones for several seconds. Release the button when the indicator LED lights either begin flashing rapidly or remains steadily lit; the LED display will depend on your model and brand of headphones. The headphones are now in pairing mode.

4. Select "Search" or "Add New" from the device's Bluetooth options. Wait several seconds as the device attempts to locate your headphones. The two devices should be close to one another during this step -- within a few feet for best results.

5. Select the name of your headphones from the list that displays. Enter "0000" when prompted for a pass code and press "OK." A "Pairing Successful" message will display on your device -- the headphones are now enabled and ready for use.

Power Window Repair Tips

A malfunctioning power window can be a major inconvenience in inclement weather.

Automobile power windows are a convenience that few motorists think about until a window stops working or leaks develop around a window's edges. While replacing a power window motor or having electrical work done to return a window to working order can be expensive, some simple power window problems can be found and repaired by the vehicle owner.

Fuses

Check the car's power window fuse. If all of a vehicle's power windows stop working, the problem may be the result of a blown fuse. Many power window fuses are sized to support the windows when they are functioning at an optimal level, and if a window channels become sticky, the fuse may fail due to added strain on the electrical system. To check whether a power window fuse is broken, turn the car's ignition key to the "Run" position and try to operate a power window. If the fuse is intact, the window glass will quiver and you will hear the power window motor. If a fuse is broken, you will not hear the power window motor and the glass will not move at all. If this is the case, check the owner's manual to locate the car's power window fuse so you can replace it.

Electrical System

Trace the electrical system leading to the power window. To thoroughly inspect the electrical system, you will need a 12 volt test light or voltmeter. Begin at the fuse panel and trace the wiring up to the power window switch, testing to make sure the wiring is carrying 12 volts at all times. If you find a section of wiring that does not carry 12 volts, a malfunctioning breaker or loose connection in that area will be the culprit. Replace the breaker or reconnect the wiring to restore the window to functionality.

Gaskets

If a power window is leaking, a window gasket is likely the cause. Torn or misplaced gaskets can also slow down power windows and ultimately cause them to fail. Inspect the gaskets around the window and repair loose or misplaced gaskets with special adhesives, which can be found in most auto parts stores. Adhesives may also be used to repair torn gaskets, but damaged gaskets sometimes require replacement.

If you've recently purchased a new phone, switched carriers or have relocated to another country and acquired a new SIM card, you may not know your cell phone number. Now that so many people have cell phones, it has become less and less important to memorize phone numbers. Gprs Network Configuration

If GPRS is disabled, you can still use the telephone function on your device.

The GPRS network on your mobile phone connects you to the Internet for browsing and downloading. Each wireless provider requires its own network profile, and if the profile is configured with the wrong details, Internet connectivity will be lost. Most users will never need to change their GPRS settings, but consulting with your wireless provider proves vital when configuration becomes necessary.

GPRS

GPRS, formally known as General Packet Radio Service, is a communication service built to facilitate data usage on mobile devices, and exchanges data packets with the network server. In short, the GPRS on a mobile phone is the connection by which you browse the Internet on your phone, or use an application that needs to communicate data with a website or server.

Cellular Providers

To use a cellphone on a particular wireless network, such as AT&T or Verizon, you must configure your phone with your provider's specific settings. A phone purchased directly from your wireless provider comes programmed with the required settings, but you may need to reconfigure the GPRS if you change to a new network.

Configuration Contents

The GPRS network profile consists information such as the connection name and homepage assigned to the phone's Web browser. The profile also includes the Access Point Name, or APN, which is the name of the GPRS configuration. An IP address and server are also included with the profile -- typically, you can manually insert this information, but if you don't, the device will automatically detect and apply an available IP and server.

Warning

If you make changes to the GPRS profile without knowing what you are doing, you risk losing your phone's Internet connection. Some information, such as the homepage and description, may be changed without negative consequences, but other settings, including the APN, will cause a loss of connection if altered incorrectly.

Imap Vs Pop3 Email

Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) and Post Office Protocol - Version 3 (POP3) are both designed for use with email clients such as Outlook, Eudora or Thunderbird. IMAP and POP3 let you download and view your incoming email messages. Outgoing messages always use the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Neither IMAP or POP3 come into play when accessing email via Web interfaces such as Gmail or Yahoo! Mail.

POP3 Overview

POP3 connects to the email server using your user name and password and downloads all new incoming messages before disconnecting. Some email clients include the option to keep copies of your incoming messages on the server. The default behavior, however, is to delete messages from the server after they've been downloaded to your email program.

POP3 Considerations

POP3 works well with slow connections since the structure and messages reside on your computer. If you prefer to keep messages on your computer for security purposes, archiving or due to lack of server space, POP3 is also preferable. Connecting with multiple computers, programs or devices to the same email account using POP3 is complicated. Specific settings may be required to ensure that each client application receives a copy of all messages. Computer failure can wipe out all your messages if no copy exists on the server and there's no backup.

IMAP Overview

IMAP is designed as an always-on email protocol. The email server stores messages, folders and sub-folders. Client applications make the initial connection with your user name and password and maintain an open connection for extended periods of time. Instead of downloading messages, your email client lets you work with messages directly on the server.

IMAP Considerations

IMAP is best suited to DSL or broadband connections. Most IMAP clients do include an option to download messages so you can work offline. In offline mode, deleted, moved and copied messages are updated on the server when you reconnect. By default, IMAP works well with multiple devices, since each device or program is accessing the copies of your messages stored on the server. Hardware failure in your computer never threatens email messages with IMAP. Space, however, can be a consideration if you have a large number of messages and limited space allotted on the server.

Decontaminate An Ipod

Decontaminating your iPod can get the device working again.

If your iPod is not functioning properly and will not sync with the iTunes software on your computer, the device may be contaminated with a virus or other similar malware infection. When ignored, these infections could cripple your iPod's hard drive and possibly even infect your computer if you attach the iPod to it. Decontaminating an iPod is a two-part process that includes removing malware from the device, then clearing the device's hard drive.

Instructions

1. Download and install a trustworthy anti-virus software program. McAfee, Symantec and Avast Pro are three anti-virus programs that can be used to decontaminate an iPod.

2. Attach the iPod to the computer with a working Apple USB cord.

3. Open the anti-virus program that's on your computer. Choose the "Scan" or "Scan Computer" option. The virus scan begins. A window appears once the malware on the iPod is detected.

4. Choose "Delete" inside the window. Repeat this each time an alert appears.

5. Open iTunes. Highlight the iPod selection immediately underneath "Devices," found in the left "Source" panel of iTunes.

6. Click "Summary" in the main window (middle window) of iTunes.

7. Click the "Restore" button in the center of iTunes. An iTunes alert will pop up. Click "Restore" in the pop-up. Follow the iTunes instructions to restore the iPod, as they vary depending on the model. The iPod is now decontaminated.

Real World Uses Of Linear Equations

Real World Uses of Linear Equations

Learning linear equations in an academic setting may focus too much on theoretical applications instead of practical application. In truth, linear equations help people analyze and understand several real world situations. As with theoretical applications, real-world situations modeled with a linear equation often relate two variables. The resulting linear equation helps show how much a change in one of the variables affects the other.

Demand Curve

In business economic analysis, the demand curve is a linear equation that illustrates the inverse relationship between two variables: the quantity of a particular good and its price. Modeling this relationship illustrates how price affects the willingness or ability of a consumer to buy a certain product. This demand schedule shows how much of a product or service consumers are willing to purchase at varying price levels.

A product with a high price will have low demand; people buy less of the product because it is so expensive that few can afford it. In turn, if the price of the product is low, more people can afford it. Because every price corresponds to a specific quantity of products that may be sold, businesses have a better idea of price products.

Interest Rates and Investment

In the finance industry, the inverse relationship between interest rates and investment by individuals and businesses may also be modeled with a linear equation. In this case, the linear equation helps illustrate how much the level of investment changes as interest rates either increase or decrease.

The linear equation relating interest rates to investment will show that high interest rates correlate to low investment levels. However, if interest rates are low, investment activity may increase.

Currency Exchange Rates

The foreign exchange rate tells you the price of one currency in terms of a foreign currency. Say for example that you want to convert U.S. dollars into British pounds. You use your dollars to buy pounds and receive the value of your dollars in British currency. Depending on the currency exchange rate of the British pound, you may be able to buy more or less British pounds with your U.S. dollars. This relationship between currencies may also be modeled with a linear equation.

In this case, the two variables are U.S. dollars and British pounds. From the foreign exchange rate you know that one U.S. dollar buys a certain number of pounds, two dollars buys a certain amount of pounds, and so on. If you model this data, you will be able to see how many pounds you may be able to buy with a specific amount of dollars under the exchange rate.

Transfer Contacts From A Sim To My Iphone

This is an example of a standard SIM card.

To transfer old contacts from a subscriber identity module (SIM) that was in an older mobile phone to your iPhone, insert the SIM card into your iPhone and import the contacts from within your iPhone's settings. Many mobile phones are designed to store names, phone numbers and contacts on their SIM cards. An iPhone requires a SIM for operation, but the iPhone does not store any actual data on the SIM.

Instructions

1. Turn off your iPhone. Hold the power button until you see a notice on the display advising you to slide to power it off. Slide the image on the iPhone's touchscreen and it will power off after a few seconds. Many people do not realize that tapping the power button only turns off the display.

2. Remove the SIM tray from your iPhone. Look on the top edge of the phone for a tiny hole, which is just wider than a paper clip. Insert a paper clip into the pinhole, and the SIM tray will eject.

3. Set aside the iPhone's SIM from the tray and insert your old SIM. One corner of a SIM card is flattened to make alignment easier.

4. Insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power it back on. If you have one, enter your unlock code once it is on.

5. Open the Settings application on your iPhone by tapping on it.

6. Select the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" menu from your phone's settings. You may need to scroll down to see the "Import SIM Contacts" menu. Once you tap on that, your phone will begin to import the data stored on the old SIM. This data should include your contacts.

7. Turn off your iPhone once the import completes, then swap the SIMs back to their original configuration. Your iPhone will have no service until you replace the SIM you removed earlier.

Clear An Eprom

EPROM is an acronym for erasable programmable read only memory. EPROM chips are much less expensive over time than trying to use ROM on POM chips. These chips, instead of filling up with memory and being useless after, have the ability to be erased and later reused. This ability to be reused makes them valuable because they can always be rewritten. However, it takes skill and an ultraviolet light to erase the memory on these chips.

Instructions

1. Establish your chip check the memory on the EPROM. This can be done by entering the EPROM memory bank on the computer.

2. Erase the chip, clearing all the memory. Restart your computer.

3. Remove the backing of the computer in order to reach the EPROM chip. Remove the EPROM chip from the computer. Place in on your workstation.

4. Put on your protective eyewear and gloves. Make sure you have your source of ultraviolet ready frequency set to 253.7. This is the only frequency that will allow you to erase the EPROM chip correctly.

5. Hold the ultraviolet light exactly 1 inch away from the EPROM.

6. Place EPROM chip back into the computer. Put computer back together and restart the computer.

Why Won'T The Bluetooth On My Phone Work

Why Won't the Bluetooth on My Phone Work?

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that lets you transmit information between electronic devices, such as a mobile phone and an earpiece. For the devices to work together properly, profiles on both must be set up and turned on according to the manufacturer's instructions. If Bluetooth isn't working with your phone, one of several common problems may be to blame.

Phones and Headsets

If the phone and headset are both powered on but there is no dial tone, make sure both are fully charged (your adapter as well, if needed). Most have a blinking light that signifies a full charge. If they still do not work, they may need to be synced manually so they can communicate with each other. This is also referred to as linking or pairing. Using your phone's menu screen, find "Communications" or "Connections" and scroll to find "Bluetooth." Select this and navigate to "Find Devices." Choose the device you want to sync with. If successful, you will hear a dial tone in the headset.

No Bluetooth

Some Bluetooth problems are very easy to fix. A simple but often overlooked step is to make sure your device is turned on. Some phones will not even display the "Bluetooth" option in the menu screens unless the Bluetooth device is powered up. If there is still no Bluetooth option, double-check that your phone is enabled for wireless connectivity. If it is not, you will need an adapter.

Device Not Found

When you want to send a file and scroll to "Send via Bluetooth" on your phone, your device list may come up empty. Sometimes this can be resolved by physically moving the devices closer together. The maximum distance between devices is 30 feet -- less if there is an obstacle blocking the signal.

Transmission Failed

You may be getting an error message when you try to send a file, saying that the transmission did not go through. First, check to see if the receiving device expects a security code before receiving transmissions. Some phones have security restrictions to prevent hacks. If that's not the case, you may have a weak signal. Try moving closer to the target device and re-sending your file.

Connectivity Issues

Most Bluetooth-equipped devices come with a factory-set name. Change your device settings so that all your electronics have unique monikers. There are still some compatibility issues among Bluetooth devices, too. If you can send a file from your phone to your computer, odds are everything is working properly, but you have compatibility issues with the receiving device. Check the manufacturer's website for software updates for your phone, or visit a service center. But be careful: New phone software that updates the operating system can erase all your phone information.

What Does Active Ingredient Mean

The active ingredient(s) of any medication will be clearly stated on the label.

The active ingredient in any medication is the part of the preparation that will have a direct effect on your symptoms. Every medication will contain one or more active ingredients.

Recognition

The active ingredient in your medicine will always be listed first on the label, no matter what the concentration of the other ingredients. The purpose of the ingredient will also be stated.

Multiple Active Ingredients

If your medicine includes more than one active ingredient, they will all be listed at the start of the ingredients list in descending order of the amount contained. The purpose of each individual ingredient will also be listed.

Herbal Medicines

It is not always possible to isolate and identify the active ingredients of an herbal medicine. Where possible, active ingredients will be listed separately, in descending order of amount. However, if the active elements cannot be accurately measured, the World Health Organization recommends treating the medicine as a whole as one active ingredient.
