Unlock Factory Settings On A Nokia 7250

Cell phones can be unlocked to use with any network.

Cell phones sometimes are supplied by networks as part of a package. In many cases, the network provider locks the factory settings of the cell phone so that it can only be used with their network. This can be a hindrance for people who like to switch between work and private SIM cards, or use their phone with another SIM when traveling abroad. The Nokia 7250 can be unlocked from the factory settings through online unlocking services, using the phone's IMEI number.

Instructions

1. Open your Internet browser. Navigate to a search engine.

2. Enter the search term "unlock Nokia 7250" and click on "Search." Open one of the results to access an unlocking provider.

3. Select "Nokia 7250" as your phone model when prompted. Select your country and network provider from the drop-down menu.

4. Enter "*#06#" on your phone keypad to find you IMEI number. Enter the number in the designated field on the unlock website. Click on the "Get Codes" button.

5. Enter the provided code into your Nokia and press "Send," to unlock it from the factory settings.

Who Is My Phone Carrier

After phone number portability regulations took effect in the late 1990s, some phone customers who ported their numbers have experienced some difficulty in determining who their current phone carrier actually is. With some basic identification, however, and use of advanced online resources, users can quickly and conveniently identify who their current carrier may be.

Dial 6-1-1

For many users, identifying their current phone carrier may be as simple as dialing 6-1-1. The "N11" number sequence is set aside by the North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA) for special uses, such as 911 for emergencies and 511 for traffic information. When a phone customer dials 611 from most cell phones, voice-over Internet protocol (VOIP) phones and land line service areas, the call is automatically routed to the current carrier's customer service center. In most cases, the caller will be greeted by an interactive voice response (IVR) unit that announces the company's name, though some users may be connected directly to a live operator (if a live operator answers, users can simply ask who the current carrier is). Some land line phone users may also be able to receive the same service by simply picking up the phone and dialing "0," though live operators have largely been replaced by automated response systems.

Look Up the Number

Phone customers with readily available Internet access can also take advantage of advanced ID services publicly available from a number of websites. Of the websites available, the one commonly used by phone company employees is Fone Finder, an automatic number lookup service operated by the telecommunications specialty operation known as Primeris. When a user accesses this site, she simply plugs in the area code and prefix of his (or any other) phone number to quickly identify the carrier assigned to that number. Because some areas use a special type of number assignment known as "thousands-block pooling," users can also enter the first digit of the line number for more accurate identification. Some users may be initially confused by the options on the Fone Finder website, as it is intended for use by experienced telecommunications professionals. Users unfamiliar with phone lingo should keep in mind that the technical terms for "area code" and "prefix" are, respectively, "NPA" and "NXX."

Identify a Long Distance Carrier

Some phone customers may be already familiar with their local phone company, but may not be certain who their long distance carrier is. In order to eliminate confusion regarding long distance carriers, telecom regulations allow customers to dial a toll-free number that is routed to a recording announcing the name of the assigned long distance carrier. To hear this recording, phone subscribers simply dial 1-700-555-4141. This service reliably identifies the long distance carrier for land line and cell phone users but, due to the unique nature of their service, Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) customers may not have access to this feature.

8. Tell the customer service representative you would like to unlock your phone. They will ask for your phones IMEI number (phone identifier), make and model. Provide this information.

9. Write down the unlock code and read it back to the customer service representative. Enter in the unlock code exactly as described by the representative. As in the first step this will likely include symbols and numbers such as #0495894#.

Flash A Verizon Phone To Cricket

Flash a Verizon Phone to Cricket

Verizon wireless owns the largest cell phone coverage area in the U.S., inevitably making them one of the highest priced cell phone carriers. Cricket wireless service can be less than half the price of Verizon. Smaller companies like Cricket Wireless, who cannot compete in coverage, will allow you to switch over to their service and keep your same cell phone no matter who the carrier may have been. To do this you must complete a technical task called flashing. In this guide you will understand the simplest way to flash/convert a Verizon phone to Cricket.

Instructions

1. Go to mycricket.com and click on the icon that says "Coverage." Identify your geographical location to assure that you are in a Cricket coverage area.

2. Type in the words "cricket phone flashing" in the Google search engine. Also put in your city and state. Write down the phone numbers of the first five dealers to compare quotes.

3. Call all five authorized Cricket dealers to explain what you are trying to do. They will ask for the make and model of the phone, so have this information handy. The dealer will then let you know if they own the software to convert your specific phone. Ask for an explanation of their phone flashing process.

4. Compare dealer pricing and capabilities according to the information they gave you. The price should be no more than $45, and this is essentially cheaper than buying the software yourself.

5. Turn off your current service with Verizon if it is not already disconnected.

6. Meet the dealer at their place of business (should be a commercial address). Have the dealer assure that they can convert your Verizon phone to Cricket with no complication. If they can assure you, sign liability forms and let them proceed with the process.

SD cards are widely used for Microsoft Windows operating systems just as MMC cards are favored in open-source operating systems.

The MMC card, also known as a multimedia card, uses a file format developed by the Sandisk and Siemens AG corporations. It was created primarily for use with open-source operating systems, such as Linux, Ubuntu, Knoppix, and all other Unix-based operating systems, as the MMC format is itself open-source. Many large companies, such as Samsung, want to move from Secure Digital technology to MMC technology due to the open standard.

Capacity & Data Transfer

Multimedia cards can store a maximum amount of 32GB. The maximum data transfer rate of a MMC card is 20mbps. However, modified MMC formats, such as MMC Plus, can reach speeds of up to 416mbps.

Compatibility

Most devices that support SD technology support MMC technology as well. However, few manufacturers build MMC slots into devices or computers as it is used much scarcely than other formats, such as SD, CF or MS.

See My Ip Address – What Is My Ip Or Internet Protocol Address

Every computer on the Internet has its own unique IP address.

Hundreds of millions of Internet users surf the Web every day, yet many do not realize that every computer connected to the Internet has it own unique IP address - a sequence of numbers that distinguishes one computer from another. The term "IP" stands for "Internet Protocol," and without this system, chaos would reign on the Internet. An IP address consists of four numbers from zero to 255, separated by dots. You can find the IP address assigned to your computer by using one of numerous online tools. These tools are free and the results are instantaneous.

Instructions

1. Open your Web browser on the computer for which you want to know your IP address. Each computer in your home or office will have its own unique IP address.

2. Type or paste any one of the following websites into the navigation bar of your browser:

IP-adress.com

Whatismyipaddress.com

IPchicken.com

3. Wait for the page from the website you selected to load in your browser. Your IP address will be prominently displayed on the page.

4. Write down your IP address if you expect that you will need this information for some purpose, such as reporting connectivity problems to the tech support department of your Internet service provider.

Diagnosis No Ipod Was Found

Personal audio devices may make listening more pleasurable, but they can cause frustration when they fail to sync with a computer. Whether you use a Mac or a PC, there are several steps you can take to solve problems when your computer doesn't recognize your iPod.

Mac Users

If your computer will not recognize your iPod, make sure your Mac is not in sleep mode. Sleeping computers will not operate with an iPod. You may also be missing important iTunes software, or the software may be installed only on the startup disc. To fix these, check for iTunes updates or reinsert the startup disc.

PC Users

Apple recommends that you use the "5 R's of iPod Troubleshooting" to fix an iPod that cannot be recognized by your computer. First, you should "reset" your iPod, then "retry" it to see if the computer finds it. You can also "restart" the computer, "reinstall" the iPod driver or "restore" the device on another computer.

iPod Still Not Found

If you have followed all of the aforementioned steps and your iPod is still not recognized, your computer may not meet the system requirements for the iPod. You may also try recharging the device, as a dead battery will prevent the iPod from showing up on your computer. Also try connecting the device to a USB port with high-power and check that all the drivers for your USB ports are properly installed.

Make Phone Calls Private

The right key sequence will block your number from Caller ID.

Caller ID displays the phone number of an incoming call, allowing phone owners to screen phone calls. A private phone call is an incoming call with a phone number that is invisible to the Caller ID feature, typically because it is blocked by the caller or it is from an unlisted subscriber. Blocked or unlisted phone numbers appear as "Unknown" to Caller ID systems or display a dummy number (000-000-0000) and your phone calls are considered private. Call blocking is done on a per call basis. To make calls from an unlisted phone number, you must subscribe to that service.

Instructions

Call Blocking

1. Dial the Caller ID blocking code. On the phone keypad, dial *-67. This informs the phone network to mask your phone number from Caller ID systems.

2. Dial the 10-digit phone number you wish to call, immediately following the Caller ID blocking code. For example, the sequence of numbers is *-67-1- 212-555-1234.

3. Connect to the dialed phone number. Landline phones will begin connecting after the last number is dialed. On cell phones, you must press the "Send call" button, typically green, on your handset.

Unlisted Phone Number

4. Obtain your phone service provider's customer service number. This number is printed on your most recent phone bill.

5. Subscribe to an unlisted phone number service. At your request, your phone service provider will add your number to a private database, which prevents it from being seen by Caller ID systems and other public databases, such as the one used to populate the White Pages phone book.

6. Verify your number is unlisted. Review a phone book printed after subscribing your number as unlisted to confirm that it does not appear in the public listing. Alternately, you can call a friend and ask if your number appears on her Caller ID.

How Transfer Music From My Ipod To My Itouch

As technology evolves, you may end up with an electronic device that still functions but is outdated. If you used a previous-generation iPod and have a large number of songs saved onto it, you might wish to transfer them to your new iPod touch--called fondly by many "iTouch"--which has greater capabilities such as Web browsing, gaming and an enormous assortment of applications. Transferring these files is simple with a computer and iTunes.

Instructions

1. Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple's website. To transfer music from your iPod to iTunes, you'll need iTunes 7 or later.

2. Connect your iPod to your computer with a USB cable. It should appear as an icon in your iTunes menu under the "Devices" section in a few moments.

3. Transfer your iPod's music files from the iPod device to your iTunes library by selecting the files and dragging them to the "Library" folder on iTunes. iTunes will only allow you to transfer the files on your iPod that you originally downloaded from iTunes to avoid copyright infringement issues. Wait for all the music files to copy over to your iTunes library. If you have a large quantity of songs, this may take several minutes.

4. Unplug your iPod from the USB cable attached to your computer once all the files have successfully transferred and then plug your iTouch into the USB cable. Wait for a few moments until the iTouch loads and appears under the "Devices" section of the website.

5. Transfer the files in your iTunes library to your iTouch by highlighting the desired files in the library and dragging them to the iTouch icon. Wait for the files to transfer over the course of several minutes and then unplug your iTouch and verify that all the songs are loaded into the device's library.

Open A Lock

A combination lock is a device that will help protect your valuables while stored in a locker. The lock is operated by a dial that when turned in a special sequence the lock will open. It is simple to open; however, opening the lock does require some concentration until you have mastered it. It may take several attempts before you can successfully open the lock. The important thing to remember is to not forget the sequence of numbers. Some people write down their numbers just in case they do forget it. For this article I will use the code 10, 30 and 20.

Instructions

1. Take the combination lock and hold it with one hand. Use the other hand to set the dial to zero.

2. Turn the dial two full turns to the right until the arrow reaches zero. The arrow should pass the zero twice.

3. Turn the dial to the right until it is lined up with the 10.

Troubleshoot A Nokia Twist

The Nokia 7705 Twist was released from Verizon Wireless. Marketed as a full messaging device, it features a full QWERTY keyboard and swiveling a 2.4-inch display screen. Like most wireless phones, there may come a time when your Twist malfunctions and limits its usability. Common problems include the inability to make or receive calls as well as send or receive text and multimedia messages. Many times, performing simple troubleshooting steps on your Twist identifies and corrects these problems.

Instructions

1. Check your Twist's battery and service meters. These are at the top of the display screen. Verify you have at least two bars of service and a charged battery. Your phone's service can malfunction if you are in an area with low service. Some mobile features may not be available if your battery is not charged.

2. Complete a full power cycle. This means to power the phone off, wait one minute then power the phone back on. This will reset the network connect on your Nokia Twist and usually resolves most issues with making and receiving calls as well as sending and receiving text messages.

3. Perform a power shock. While your phone is powered on, remove the back and battery. Leave the battery out for several minutes then place it back into the device. Power your phone on and place both incoming and outgoing calls to see if the issues have been resolved. Send and receive a text message to verify you can use your texting service.

4. Contact Verizon Wireless at (800) 922-0204 for contract services, and (888) 294-6804 for prepaid. After verifying your account, ask the representative to verify your service is active, the correct features are programmed to your account and that there are no outages in your area. If your account is set-up correctly, ask to be transferred to a technical support agent.

5. Explain any issues you are having in great detail to the technical support agent, especially when the problem started and any actions that may have caused it. Technical support has access to internal systems that can identify and correct the problem. If the problem resulted from a faulty device, they can determine if your device will be replaced under a warranty exchange or an insurance claim.

Convert A Song To A Free Ringtone With Itunes

Convert portions of your favorite songs to ringtones.

You can use Apple iTunes to convert a song to a ringtone for your phone as long as your phone accepts MP3, WAV, AAC or AIFF ringtone formats. Because most phones accept ringtones up to a certain length, usually 15 to 40 seconds, you can use iTunes to edit a portion of your song to the appropriate length before converting your music. Consult your phone's user manual for the correct length and format of ringtones before you begin.

Instructions

1. Open iTunes and locate the song in your library you want converted. Right-click your song and select "Get Info."

2. Click the "Options" tab. Click the "Start" and "Stop" time boxes so check marks appear, and manually enter times where you want your ringtone to begin and end. This is based on the length of ringtones supported by your phone. Click "OK."

3. Enter the iTunes Preferences window by clicking the "Edit" tab and selecting "Preferences." Click the "Import Settings" button, and click the "Import Using" drop-down menu. Select "MP3 Encoder," "WAV Encoder," "AAC Encoder" or "AIFF Encoder." Click "OK" twice to return to your iTunes library.

4. Right-click your desired song and select "Create... Version," depending on what format you previously chose. Your newly converted song will appear below your old song, edited to the appropriate length and ready to use as a ringtone. Locate your new ringtone on your computer by right-clicking its icon in iTunes and selecting "Show in Finder" or "Show in Windows Explorer."

5. Right-click your old song and select "Get Info." Click "Options" and deselect the "Start" and "Stop" points so your file is not affected during playback. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Use The Computer To Delete Phone Text Messages

Use the Computer to Delete Phone Text Messages

Cell phones are a lot more than just communication devices. Aside from mobile phones' common feature of receiving and sending messages, you can use them to take pictures and videos, play music, and browse the Internet. Connecting your phone to your PC will allow you not only to send and receive but also to delete phone text messages using your computer.

Instructions

1. Sync your mobile phone with your computer. Use the USB cable that comes with your mobile phone upon purchase. Connect one end of the cable to the mini USB port on your phone and the other end to a USB port in your computer.

2. Wait for the computer to recognize the device. Follow the on-screen instructions of the "Add Hardware wizard" and then proceed to the installation process. Some phones are automatically detected by computers and do not need to be installed; other phones have "cell phone syncing software" that needs to be installed first.

3. If your phone comes with a software disc, place it into your optical drive (CD/DVD-ROM). Install the software to your computer. When installation is finished, reboot the computer.

4. Open the "Handset Manager" or the application that is linked to your mobile phone. Click "Get Connected" or "Connect (name of device) to the computer." You will be prompted that the device is already synced with the computer.

5. Select the "Messaging" or "Messages" menu and then click on your "Inbox." Locate the message that you want to delete and then click on the "X" or "Delete" button. If the phone has a "Trash" folder feature, the deleted messages will be transferred only to the "Trash folder" upon deletion. If you also want to delete these trash messages, navigate to the trash folder and delete the messages.

6. Back up messages that you want to delete by copying them to another folder in your computer in case you will need it in the future.

Reflashing the BIOS, or basic input/output system, is an important thing to consider if you want your computer to support all of the latest hardware and software changes. Every motherboard manufacturer updates its BIOS version on a regular basis, and you can freely download the latest update right from your motherboard manufacturer's website. Reflashing the BIOS using a floppy disk or the WinFlash utility program is the easiest and most widely used method.

Instructions

Reflash Using a Floppy Disk

1. Visit your motherboard manufacturer's website and use your motherboard's chipset number to download the latest BIOS update executable file for your motherboard. The motherboard chipset number can be found on the motherboard packaging or the motherboard driver CD.

2. Restart your computer. Press the "Delete" key to enter the BIOS setup. Press the "Ctrl" and "F1" keys together to display the advanced BIOS options.

3. Use the arrow keys to highlight the option labeled "Advanced BIOS Features" and press the "Enter" key. Select the option labeled "First Boot Device" and press "Enter." Select "Floppy" and press "Enter."

4. Press the "Esc" key to go back to the BIOS main menu. Select "Save Settings and Exit" and press the "Enter" key twice. Your computer will automatically restart.

Unlock Instructions For The Verizon Blackberry 8830

As with all cell phones and SmartPhones, the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition offered by Verizon Wireless comes locked for exclusive use on the Verizon network. However, Verizon offers customers the chance to unlock the GSM capabilities of the phone for free. GSM is the frequency band used in many countries outside of the U.S. This will not enable the phone to accept SIM cards from other U.S. carriers, but you can use the phone with overseas carriers.

Instructions

1. Enter *#06# on the BlackBerry to display the phone's unique identification code, or IMEI number.

2. Contact Verizon's Global Support department at 1-908-559-4899 and explain that you want to use the phone on a trip to Europe or South America. Verizon offers this service in collaboration with the Vodafone company, which operates in both Europe and South America.

3. Give the representative your contact information and he will send you a new SIM card via FedEx.

4. Call the support department again once the SIM card arrives and provide the representative with your IMEI number.

Fix The Microphone On A Headset

Workers at call centers often use headsets.

Headsets for your computer, game console or home phone consist of a single earpiece and a microphone. This allows you to communicate with individuals without holding a receiver up to your ear. However, if the microphone is not working there is, more than likely, a problem with the wiring of the equipment. Through a few inspection points you can correct the problem in just a matter of minutes.

Instructions

1. Check the cables running from the headset to your computer or device. Many of these devices have both an "Audio In" and "Audio Out" port on the headset. To properly send out signals from the microphone you must connect the equipment into the "Line-In" port.

2. Clean off the cable connection running from the headset. If the metal connector is dirty you are not going to send or receive clean signals with the equipment.

3. Inspect the wire that runs from the microphone. Often if the microphone is receiving no signal it is because there is a cut in the wiring. If you find a cut in the wire, wrap the exposed copper with electrical tape.

4. Check the mute option. If the button is pressed down on the phone that keeps the microphone muted the recipient is not going to hear your audio. Press the "Mute" button to remove the muted feature.

The History Of Mobile Computers

The History of Mobile Computers

Laptops and Notebooks are as common as cell phones these days. Many people work in a mobile environment as they travel frequently for their jobs or work from home. Laptops make it possible to obtain a little serenity in a coffee shop while you write eHow articles, or video conference with your boss while traveling for a meeting with a client. Amidst the WiFi chaos, you might find yourself wondering how the world got to an age of mobile computing.

The Idea

The consensus for the originator for the idea of the portable laptop is Alan Kay. Kay was a researcher at what many people now know as the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (Xerox PARC). In the 1970s he had an idea for creating a portable education device for children called the Dynabook. His goal was to price it at around $100 so that everyone could afford it and use it. However, despite his brilliant vision, the technology at the time wasn't up to par to create such a device and no one wanted to dish out the funds to make it happen.

Osborne 1

The Osborne 1 was the official first portable computer. Although the concept of portability today is very different from the concept of portability when Osborne 1 came to fruition in the early 1980s. Osborne 1 was quite literally the size of a suitcase and weighed about 26 pounds. The small screen was a monochrome CRT, the fold down keyboard was also the lid and it had two floppy disc drives, with a CP/M operating system. Most people used cords for power, because the optional battery pack likely weighed more than the Osborne 1.

LCD screens

It wasn't until the use of LCD screens in mobile computers that most experts really believe that portability was a success. Before LCD, mobile computers had plasma, ELT or CRT screens, all of which drained the power very quickly if the computer did not have a direct connection to an outlet. Epson released the HX-20 in 1982, which was the first portable computer with and LCD screen. The power source for the HX-20 was rechargeable NiCD batteries and equipped with a full size keyboard and on-board dot-matrix printer. However, the LCD screen was rather small (120 by 32 resolution monochrome), which made the HX-20 less usable than desired.

Kyocera Kyotronic

Experts agree that the computer that can truly be deemed the first laptop was the Kyocera Kyotronic (called the TRS-80 Model 100 when marketed in the U.S.), released in 1983. The LCD screen showed 8 lines with 40 characters for each line. Additionally, it had several built-in applications and conveniently ran on AA batteries. It also had a clamshell design, which was another precursor to today's laptops.

Screens

The Gavilan SC, release in 1984, had the first touchpad. In 1989, the Apple Macintosh portable featured the first active matrix 640 by 400 screen, eliminating the blurring effect. The Commodore SX-64 had the first color screen, though it only measured 5 inches. Finally, in the early 1990s, the true forerunners for color screens came on the market in Toshiba's T3400CT and Fujitsu's FMV-433N, both of which used TFT screens.

Today

Over time, other aspects of the mobile computer began to improve. Battery life has progressively become more stable, though this is still something innovators are working to improve. In 2003 Intel released a chip processor that changed the way laptops functioned, giving laptops the capacity to perform like a PC. As processors evolve, Intel continues to lead the pack. Now we not only have portable computers (laptops) but pocket PCs and even cell phones with computer-like applications.

Knit A Beanie With A Loom

Knit a beanie with a loom without using knitting needles at all.

Knitting looms are round or straight frames with pegs sticking out of the top level. The pegs on a knitting loom take the place of knitting needles for the knitter to create items using yarn. You can use a round knitting loom to make a beanie style hat if you memorize the basic format for use a round knitting loom.

Instructions

1. Anchor your yarn around the anchor peg on your loom. This is the peg that sticks out of the side of the loom; wrap your yarn around this peg three or four times to hold the yarn in place.

2. Wrap your yarn around the peg immediately to the right of the anchor peg. Wrap the peg in a counter-clockwise direction as if you were writing a lower-case cursive letter "e." Continue to wrap every other peg in the same manner, moving in a clockwise direction around the loom.

3. When you get back to your first peg, wrap the loom two more times so that there will be a total of three loops of yarn on every peg. Anchor the yarn around the anchor peg a second time.

4. Use your loom hook or crochet hook to lift the bottom loop off of the first peg. Lift the yarn loop up and over the peg from the outside to the inside of the loom and drop the loop on the inside. Repeat this with every peg on the loom, moving in a clockwise direction.

5. When you finish one series of loops, unwind the yarn from the anchor peg and wrap each peg once more, then knit another row with your loom hook. Repeat this process until the hat reaches its desired height.

6. Cut your working yarn, leaving a 10-inch tail. Attach it to a large eye blunt needle and thread the needle through each loop left on the loom, removing the loops as you go. Pull tightly on the yarn like a drawstring to close the top of the hat. Pull the working yarn inside the hat, tie a knot and weave in your loose ends using your large eye blunt needle.
