Openline A Blackberry Curve 8310

Unlocking your BlackBerry allows you to use SIM cards from other providers.

To openline your BlackBerry means to unlock the SIM card. When your purchase your BlackBerry from a service provider, the phone is locked so that it cannot be used with other SIM cards or other providers. You can have your phone unlocked if you have the unlock code and your IMEI number, which is your phone's identification number. Obtaining the unlock code may not be easy, but some service providers are willing to provide it to you. Alternatively, you can pay a one-time fee and receive the unlock code, for which you can then use with as many SIM cards as you require.

Instructions

1. Contact your service provider and ask for the unlock code for your BlackBerry. Some service providers are willing to supply the unlock code if you are moving or traveling to an area where you will be unable to use your phone. This is usually the case when you are moving to areas where it will be unable to receive your business, but since you have paid for the phone, you still have a legal right to use it.

2. Contact an online service company that specializes in unlocking your phone, such as FonesZone or Global Unlock (see Resources). For this you need to know the make and model of your phone, as well as the IMEI number. Some online companies have a database of unlock codes for all makes and models of cell phones.

3. Find the IMEI number on your BlackBerry by entering "*#06#" onto the phone's keypad. The IMEI number appears.

4. Register for an account with the online service company. Sign into the account and provide your email address, phone make and model, as well as the IMEI number. The unlock company emails you the unlock code, as well as instructions on unlock your phone.

5. Go the "Settings" of your phone and tap "Options" and "Advanced Options."

6. Tap "SIM Card" and hold down the "ALT" key. Press the "M," "E," "P" and "D" keys.

7. Hold down the "ALT" key and press "M," "E," "P" and "2."

8. Enter the 16-digit unlock code that was provided to you and press "Enter." The device indicates on the screen that it has been unlocked.
