Move Contacts From One Phone To A Blackberry Storm

Connect your Blackberry to your computer and instantly update your contact list.

BlackBerry smart phones operate much like tiny personal computers, with the capacity to store quite a bit of information. Some information, such as a phone contact list, can be challenging and time-consuming to replace when switching phones. Fortunately, new BlackBerrys come equipped with BlackBerry Desktop Manager, which lets you transfer contact information from your old phone to your new Blackberry in a few clicks. BlackBerry also makes the software available online. The following method for transferring contacts to a BlackBerry requires access to Microsoft Outlook Express.

Instructions

1. Download and install Blackberry Desktop Manager. Alternatively, install Blackberry Desktop Manager from the Blackberry User Tools Disc provided with each new Blackberry.

2. Copy your old phone's contact list to Outlook Express. This step will vary depending on the type of phone you have. For instance, if you have a Nokia phone, use Nokia's Ovi Suite application to sync your contact list to Outlook Express. If you have a Windows phone, use ActiveSync (XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista/7) to get the same result. Every smart phone comes with software to achieve this task.

3. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Connect your BlackBerry to your computer. with the USB cables. In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click on "Synchronize," then click on "Configure" located in the left pane, then click on "Synchronization." Select "Address Book" from the options. Click "Next" and select "Import from Outlook Express." Click "Next" again, then click "Finish" to begin the synchronization process.

4. Close BlackBerry Desktop Manager, once it has finished syncing. Eject your BlackBerry and disconnect it from your computer. Check to see if the contacts have been transferred over onto your BlackBerry.
