Replace The Screen On A Tomtom

A cracked TomTom screen may need to be replaced.

The TomTom portable GPS features maps of the United States, Canada and Europe. Since it is a portable device, the screen can easily be damaged or scratched, which can make it difficult to see. Replace the screen yourself using household tools.

Instructions

1. Place the TomTom GPS face down on a flat, clean surface.

2. Unscrew the four Torx screws from the back of the GPS and then gently remove the bottom casing. You will be able to see inside the GPS system once the bottom casing is removed.

3. Disconnect the LCD ribbon cable from the main system board and then turn the TomTom face-up so the screen is facing you.

4. Insert the tip of a small flathead screwdriver in the divet underneath the LCD screen and gently pull up to pry off the plastic bezel. Set the screen aside.

5. Insert the new screen inside the TomTom frame.

6. Place the bezel over the replacement screen and push down gently until the bezel snaps into place.

7. Turn the TomTom over and reconnect the LCD ribbon cable to the main system board and replace the screws.
