Fix An N95 Keypad

If you've been having problems with your Nokia N95 keypad, but none of the buttons are loose, it may be the result of a bad or loose connection. The keypad, like the LCD screen, connects to a circuit board and that is how it functions. It is possible to open up your Nokia and fix the connection problem yourself.

Instructions

1. Turn off your N95, turn the unit over and slide the battery door off the rear of the unit. Remove the battery and set it aside.

2. Raise the front LCD to its open position and remove the two screws from the back corners of the LCD screen.

3. Run your fingernail along the frame of the LCD where it meets the screen. Work your way around the sides of the frame until it pops off.

4. Locate the green circuit board just below the LCD screen. The thin orange cable at the bottom of the circuit board is the keypad cable. Check the connection to make sure it is secure. If it isn't, unplug the cable and plug it back in, making sure it is secure. If the keypad is physically damaged beyond repair, proceed to the next step.

5. Lift the keypad off of the unit and fit a new one in its place. Plug in the screen cable and replace the screen frame.
