Take Apart A Razr 2

If you want to change the SIM card in your Motorola Razr 2, modify the keypad or repair any components, you will need to disassemble the phone. The Razr 2 can be taken apart with some simple tools in under one hour.

Instructions

1. Make sure the Razr 2 is completely turned off by pressing and holding the "End Call" button on the keypad. Wait for the screen to go blank and disappear before proceeding to Step 2.

2. Remove the battery cover. Turn the Razr 2 over and lay it on a flat surface. Open the battery cover by inserting the flathead screwdriver into the top of the battery cover holder and pushing gently upward to lift it. Remove the cover and set it aside.

3. Remove the SIM card, located to the righthand side of the phone underneath a small silver "belt." Hold the top of the SIM card with your fingers and gently slide it out of the holder.

4. Remove the base of the phone. Use the T6 screwdriver to unscrew the two T6 screws on both sides of the phone, underneath the battery. Remove them completely and set aside. Pop off the bottom of the phone by sliding the SIM card under the base and prying off the bottom cover with your fingers.

5. Remove the case holder. Fold open the Razr 2 and you'll find a small gold-colored tab holding the two halves of the phone together. Remove this piece using the flathead screwdriver so that the phone is now in two pieces.

6. You will see six metal tabs around one panel of the inside of the phone that hold the keypad in place; lift these up using your flathead screwdriver and bend them back slightly so that you can lift the keypad cover. Pull the keypad out carefully.

7. Remove the small rubber dots on all four corners of the screen; these are covering up a screw underneath. Pop off the dots and then unscrew the screws; use the SIM card or your fingers to separate the cover and screen from the base of the phone.
