Remove Adobe Restrictions

Remove Adobe Restrictions

The .PDF file format offers a wide range of options for designating and restricting what changes can be made to a document and who can make these changes. These security measures are a good way to ensure the integrity of a document once it is sent out. Fortunately for users who need to make changes to their .PDF files, the restrictions are also easy to adjust or remove for people who have security access to the document.

Instructions

1. Open Adobe Acrobat and open the file you want to remove restrictions from by selecting "File" then "Open" from the application menu. Locate the file in the directory that appears and click "Open." Enter the password in the Password dialogue box that appears if the file is password restricted.

2. Select "File" then "Properties" from the application menu and click on the "Security" column across the top of the dialogue box. Click the "Change Settings" button and uncheck the "Restrict editing and printing of the document" box in the Permissions section of the dialogue box. Click "OK" in this dialogue box and then click "OK" once again in the Document Properties box that remains.

3. Return to the File menu and select "Save," or type "Ctrl + S" ("Command + S" on a Mac.) There will no longer be restrictions on making changes to the document.
