Get Bluetooth On A Desktop Pc

Bluetooth is a popular wireless technology which is most frequently used for Bluetooth wireless headsets (hands-free communication) and for transferring data between mobile phones and other portable devices. Most newer laptop computers include a built-in Bluetooth adapter, but they are generally not found in desktop computers. However, if you want to wirelessly connect peripherals such as MP3 players and smartphones to your desktop, it is possible using a USB Bluetooth adapter.

Instructions

1. Plug the Bluetooth adapter into an available USB port.

2. Insert the CD which was included with the adapter or download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website. Follow the installation instructions until the setup process is complete. In Windows Vista and above, many Bluetooth adapters will be automatically installed without any requirement for installing extra drivers or software. Once the Bluetooth adapter is installed, a Bluetooth logo icon will appear in the Windows system tray.

3. Right click on the Bluetooth icon and click "Options." Select "Turn discovery on."

4. Right click on the Bluetooth icon and go to "Open Bluetooth Settings." Choose the "Devices" tab, click the "Add" button and follow the wizard-driven setup process to add the device to which you wish to connect.

5. Right-click on the Bluetooth icon again and click "Receive a file." Attempt to send a file to the computer using your Bluetooth-enabled device. The process will vary depending on your device, so you may need to refer to the manual for further instructions.
