Replace The Screen On A Nokia N97

The Nokia N97 is a cell phone with a retractable front LCD screen that rises to reveal a horizontal keypad. If you have a cracked or damaged screen on your N97, you can remove it from the top of the unit and replace it with a new one. The process doesn't require many tools and should only take a few minutes.

Instructions

1. Turn the unit off and turn the unit over. Press the release latch at the bottom of the battery door and remove the battery door. Remove the battery.

2. Remove the six screws from the sides and corners of the rear of the unit. Remove the seventh screw in the center of the battery compartment.

3. Slide the screen to its open position and insert the tip of your case opener tool in the seam where the top cover of the unit meets the body of the unit. Work your way around the sides of the cover until it separates.

4. Lift the cover up to expose the motherboard inside the body of the phone. Unplug the orange screen cable from its port at the top of the motherboard.

5. Turn the screen over and remove the four screws from the back screen panel.

6. Pry the front cover off the screen and set it aside. Unplug the second LCD ribbon from its port at the side of the screen.

7. Remove the screen and fit a new one in its place. Reverse the steps for reassembly.
