Unlock A Nokia 1100 Tracfone

Unlock your Nokia 1100 so you can use it with a SIM card from any network.

The Nokia 1100 is a 2G phone that came out around 2003. It is a basic candy-bar-shaped phone that comes with a monochrome screen. If you purchased this phone from the Tracfone network, then the software is locked. This means that you won't be able to use it with another carrier until you get it unlocked.

Instructions

1. Get the serial code, or IMEI, from your Nokia 1100 by dialing #*06# into your phone's keypad. The 15-digit code will appear. Write it down.

2. Call Tracfone customer service by dialing 1-800-867-7183 and requesting an unlocking code from the representative.

Provide the representative with the IMEI code. If you have been a customer for 90 days or more, they are likely to give you the code, but they are not required to.

3. Purchase an unlock code for the Nokia 1100. (See Resources.) If Tracfone is unwilling to give you a code, purchase one. Choose a website where you can purchase your codes. As of 2010, one code costs about $20. Enter your IMEI number, your phone's manufacturer and model, your email address and payment information.

4. Retrieve your codes in a day or two from your email and write it down.

5. Turn your Nokia 1100 off and take out the SIM card and the battery. Replace the SIM card with the new one, and replace the battery and power the phone back up. A message will appear asking you to enter an unlock code.

6. Type in the code that you purchased and press the "OK" button. Wait for the phone to beep, blink and restart. Your phone is now unlocked. You can verify this by looking at the top of the screen of your phone. You should see the name of the new network at the top of the screen.
