Replace A Nokia 6500 Classic Fascia

You'll need a screwdriver to get into your Nokia.

The faceplate on your Nokia 6500, otherwise known as the fascia, can be removed and replaced with one of another color or design. You can have a service tech do it for you, but if you have a few extra minutes you can perform the task yourself. There's no need to be intimidated because the faceplate is designed so that it can be removed in a short period of time. And it doesn't require much knowledge of electronics to perform.

Instructions

1. Power off your Nokia 6500 and turn the unit over. Slide the back battery cover down and off of the unit. Lift the battery out of the compartment.

2. Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws on the back corners of the unit and set them aside.

3. Turn the unit right-side-up and shift the front slider of the phone to its up position, revealing the keypad.

4. Insert the tip of your plastic case opener tool in the seam where the front faceplate meets the body of the phone. Work your way around the sides of the faceplate, popping each of the internal locking clips as you go.

5. Pull the faceplate gently off of the unit and set it aside. Fit the new faceplate in its place and press the sides down firmly until the internal clips lock in place.

6. Replace the screws, battery and cover.
