Convert Nero Digital To Avi

When you encode a DVD or convert files within Nero Software, the default file type is known as Nero Digital. If you want to convert to another file type like AVI, the process is easily done within the Nero software. Along with the basic conversion, you can add extras like titles, transitions and extra audio tracks. The conversion process is easy and simply requires a little pointing and clicking to create a high-quality AVI video.

Instructions

1. Import your Nero Digital files into a new Nero Vision project. Use the "Folder" icon to find the files and hold the "CTRL" key while clicking to select multiple files at one time.

2. Choose the order of your clips and drag them down into the timeline. Click on the "Expanded Timeline" to see the length of the project.

3. Trim parts of the video in the "Preview Monitor" by clicking on the "Scissors" icon. Drag the start of the video to the point you want to start at and drag the end of the video to the end point.

4. Record voice-overs for the clips by clicking on the "Microphone" icon. You can also import music and drag it to the "Audio 1" section of the timeline.

5. Add titles, effects or transitions by using the tabbed folders. Once you have found an effect you want to use, drag and drop it over a clip to apply it. There are dozens of pre-set effects to choose from for each category.

6. Preview the final video by pressing the "Fullscreen" icon underneath the "Preview" monitor. Watching it in full screen will help detail any mistakes or additions needed for the video.

7. Click on the "Next" icon to go back to the main Nero Vision screen. Click on the "Export" link to advance to the exporting stage of the process.

8. Change the file format to AVI in the upper right-hand corner. Keep the video format at NTSC and do not change the size ratio. Only change the video compressor if you know what kind you want to use; otherwise, the default settings work the best.

9. Choose an output file. By default, files are saved to the "Nero Vision" folder in "My Documents" if you forget to change the output directory.

10. Click on the "Export" button and wait for the process to complete. Watch the preview to see frame-by-frame progress of the conversion. Test the AVI clip out by double-clicking on it when the file has fully converted.
