Turn On Silent Mode For Iphone

Your iPhone has a toggle switch to alternate between silent and regular modes.

There are many situations where you do not wish to be disturbed by your ringing iPhone. Maybe you are in a meeting, at class, at the movies, taking a nap, in a courtroom or whatever. In these cases, a ringing phone call can be embarrassing, disruptive or could get you into trouble. To address this concern, iPhone offers a convenience switch to toggle between silent and regular modes.

Instructions

1. Locate the switch at the upper left-hand side of your iPhone. This will be just above the volume keys.

2. Push the switch toward the back of the iPhone so that it is misaligned with the volume keys. Your iPhone will now be in silent mode, which means it not ring with incoming calls, but rather will vibrate. A bell icon with a slash through it should momentarily flash on the screen. You will still be able to listen to music or use alarms when in silent mode.

3. Navigate to "Settings," "Sounds" and the "Vibrate" on your iPhone by using the navigational keys or your touch pad. Turn vibrate off under the "Silent" section. This will prevent your phone from even vibrating when in silent mode. If you want it to still vibrate, disregard this step.
