Since Nissan doesn't offer repair parts for the power window switch, but they do offer new switches, the only way to properly repair the switch on a 1990 Maxima is to replace it. If you don't wish to purchase the switch directly from Nissan, there are several aftermarket parts manufacturers you can buy one from through your local auto parts store. Anyone with good mechanical skills can replace the window switch and fix the power window system in a 1990 Nissan Maxima in less than a half hour.
Instructions
1. Pry the door panel switch bezel out of the Maxima's door using the trim tool.
2. Push the bezel up on the inner door pull until you can easily reach between the underside of the bezel and the bezel seat.
3. Unplug the window harness from the base of the old window switch. Push the old window switch out of the switch bezel by hand.
4. Insert the new switch into the switch bezel by hand. Plug the window harness into the base of the new switch.
5. Slide the window switch bezel back down the Maxima's inner door pull manually and push it back into the bezel seat until it clicks into place.
