Tell If BlackBerry 9700 Is Unlocked

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is a quad-band Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) smartphone originally released in October 2009. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 features a 3G high speed Internet connectivity, a full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, a 3.15-megapixel digital camera and a speakerphone. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 normally comes with a carrier lock that prevents you from using the smartphone on another cellular service provider's network. It is possible, however to unlock the BlackBerry Bold 9700. If you are unsure if your BlackBerry device is unlocked, you can check a setting in the "Options" menu to determine your device's unlock status.

Instructions

1. Select the "Options" menu on your BlackBerry Bold 9700 and then choose "Advanced Options." Select "SIM Card."

2. Type "MEPD" using your BlackBerry Bold 9700 keypad. An option list will pop up.

3. Look for "Network" in the option list. If the status listed to the write of the "Network" reads "Disabled," your BlackBerry Bold 9700 is unlocked.
