Format An Unlocked Phone

The "hard reset" feature restores your phone to its original formatting.

When you unlock your cell phone, you gain the ability to use a different network's SIM card in the phone. This allows you to continue using your current handset and take advantage of another network's features. Whether your phone has been unlocked or not, you can format the device at any time. Cell phones can be formatted using the "hard reset" feature, which erases all data on the device and formats the phone to its original factory condition.

Instructions

1. Perform a "hard reset" on the T-Mobile G2 (Windows Mobile operating system). Press "Home," "Menu," "Settings," "Privacy" and "Factory Data Reset." Press "Reset Phone" and "Erase Everything."

2. Perform a "hard reset" on the LG Optimus (Android operating system). Tap "Menu," "Settings," "Privacy" and "Factory Data Reset." Press "Reset Phone," and enter your phone's password, if prompted. Tap "Erase Everything."
