Unlock Cellphones With Software

Cell phones are often locked to network carriers that you purchase the phone from. Carriers lock cell phones that are sold on contracts so the user is not able to switch to a different network provider. If, for some reason, you wish to unlock it, you can use the services of various unlocking companies online. There are different unlocking methods including unlocking through code, equipment and software. You will have to purchase the software for a fee. The fee depends on your carrier and phone model.

Instructions

1. Go to a website like Cell Corner, Unlock to Talk, Unlocking or GSM Liberty (see Resources). These websites provide unlocking software for different cell phones.

2. Select your cell phone manufacturer and cell-phone model.

3. Provide the name of your network carrier.

4. Pay for the unlocking software via credit card, and download it to your computer. The price of the software depends on the phone model as well as the carrier it's locked to.

5. Connect your cell phone to the computer via USB data cable.

6. Run the software application you downloaded and follow the onscreen instructions to unlock your phone. The software program will run a detailed unlocking operation on the phone, which you should not interrupt. You will not be able to access the phone menu while the phone is in operation. Once it's finished, you will be able to insert a SIM card of any GSM carrier into the phone.
