How Has Technology Of Cell Phones Improved Since 1985

Cell phones have become much smaller over time.

Cell phones are now a common method of communicating, as they allow callers to keep in touch with family and friends from anywhere. Technology has improved vastly since 1985, and cell phones have changed greatly.

Size

In 1985, cell phones were much bigger and bulkier, and they more closely resembled home phones. Current cell phones are much sleeker and are designed to fit in a pocket.

Designs

Cell phones from 1985 were all very similar in design, with a long body, an antenna, and buttons in the center. In 2010, cell phones come in many styles and form factors, such as flip phones, bar phones, and sliders.

Data

Modern cell phones can transfer data as well as voice. While 1985's cell phones could only make and receive calls, 2010's phones can deliver text, picture, and video messages as well.

Digital

Cell phones in 1985 used analog technology to make calls, which resulted in worse call quality and more excess static than what is experienced with 2010's digital cell phones.

Entertainment

Cell phones in 1985 performed only the functions of a telephone, and they were only used as telephones. In 2010, cell phones can record and play video, serve as a music player, and browse the Internet.
