Unlock An Optus Mobile Phone 6280

Optus is one of the largest mobile service providers in Australia. The Nokia 6280 is a smart phone that comes with a large color display, camera and camcorder. If you purchased the phone through the Optus Network, chances are that it is locked to this network. Most mobile companies do this to prevent you from moving to another carrier. If you want to switch to another network, you must purchase codes that will unlock your phone.

Instructions

1. Get the international mobile equipment identification (IMEI) code for your phone. This is how Optus and other networks identify your phone. Get this number by dialing *#06# into your keypad. A 15- to 17-digit numerical code will appear. Write this down.

2. Go to GSMLiberty. Enter your IMEI, cell phone carrier, country and the make and model of your phone. Once you have made payment your unlock code will be emailed to you within 48 hours. It will come with complete step-by-step instructions on unlock your Nokia 6280.

3. Go to FunFoneShop. Unlike Mobile Unlock, this site gives you two options for unlocking your phone. Either provide the IMEI number and purchase the unlock codes, or purchase a piece of hardware known as an unlock box that, when connected to your phone, will unlock it for you.

4. Go to UnlockItNow. This site also provides you with the option of unlocking via hardware or with an unlock code. The advantage of using a hardware process is that you can unlock an unlimited number of phones. However the downside is that the device costs about $450 as of 2010. If you opt for the unlock codes, you must provide the IMEI number, and the make and model of the phone. Either way, you will receive step-by-step instructions on unlock your Nokia 6280 once you have made your purchase.
