Begin Using The Smartboard

Update your classroom by setting up a SMART board.

Some educators are intimidated by the SMART board, an interactive learning tool for modern educators and an incredible aid to education as a whole. The reality is, using a SMART board is no more difficult than using a standard PC. This article will help new users get acclimated with their boards while learning the basics of Touch, Write and Save.

Instructions

1. Double-click the Internet Explorer icon with your finger on the SMART board display. Use your finger as if it were a mouse and click on various links to open any desired links. This same method works for opening files and running applications.

2. Open the interactive white board application and pick up a pen from the tool tray. Use the pen to make notes, highlight areas of importance and doodle as needed. You can also take notes or make highlights on any Internet page that you display on the SMART board. Use the interactive eraser to erase unneeded marks.

3. Save your notes by returning the pen to the tray and touching the screen with your finger to display a drop-down menu.

4. Select "Save Ink" from the drop-down menu. The SMART board software will save a screen capture to your desired location.

5. Touch the screen again and select "Close Ink Layer" to get rid of the ink and exit the pen access to the board.
