Nokia Camera Tools

Get closer to your subject by using the zoom feature.

Some Nokia wireless digital cell phones feature a handy built-in camera. They come with automatic-focus features, flash and zoom functions. Your camera can also be adjusted to capture photos of various sizes and can be easily set up to snap self-portraits. Before taking your phone to parties and events, you'll want to know the full extent of your phone's camera capabilities.

Camera

The Nokia N82 contains a 5-megapixel camera sensor, which captures up to 2,592-by-1,944 pixel images, and a Carl Zeiss/Tessar lens. The camera feature can be accessed by pushing and holding the "Camera" key (located on the right edge of the phone). Use the navigation button (located below the display in the center of the keypad) to highlight the image mode from the toolbar. You will see the composition in real time in the display. Hold the "Camera" key down halfway to automatically focus on your subject. Push the "Camera" key to capture the image.

Settings

The camera can be adjusted to capture various sized images by using the "Image Quality" function. From image mode use the navigation button to select "Options" and "Settings." You will see a list of options on the screen. The options for image quality are: "Print 5M -- Large," which captures images in 2,592-by-1,944 pixel resolution; "Print 3M- Medium," which captures images in 2,048-by-1,536 pixel resolution; "Print 2M-Medium," which captures images in 1,600-by-1,200 pixel resolution; "Email 0.8M-Medium," which captures images in 1,024-by-768 pixel resolution and is ideal for emails; and "MMS 0.3M-Small," which is the smallest image setting, capturing pictures at a pixel resolution of 640 by 480. The higher the image quality, the more memory required to store it.

Self-Timer

You can take a picture of yourself, you and a group or take a picture with a steady camera by using the self-timer feature. The self-timer function will take a picture after a set amount of time, after you've placed the camera on a flat, steady surface. This will prevent camera shake during low-light situations and allow you to take a picture of yourself with ease. The self-timer can be set and activated by selecting the "Self-Timer" option from the image mode. You'll be prompted to choose from "2 Seconds," "10 Seconds" or "20 Seconds." Select "Activate," the phone will beep (signaling to you that the countdown has begun), and the camera will take the picture after the specified time.
