Upgrade Dell Inspiron One 2305/2310

Upgrade Dell Inspiron One 2305/2310

The Dell Inspiron One 2305 and 2310 computers have all of the computer's hardware built into the monitor, so you don't have to work around a tower. Both models also have two memory module slots and can support up to 8 GB3 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333 Mhz. The hard drive can be upgraded using any 3.5-inch SATA hard drive up to 7200 RPM. Fortunately, upgrading the computer takes very little time and only requires a Phillips screwdriver and the new hardware components.

Instructions

1. Turn your Dell Inspiron One 2305 or 2310 computer off. Disconnect any devices connected to the machine.

2. Place a pillow on the floor. Lift up your computer monitor, and then place it face down on the pillow. Remove the screws along the bottom edge of the back cover, which are located just before the cover angles upward toward the middle of the computer.

3. Remove the four screws on the upper-edge of the stand on the bottom of the computer. Lift and remove the stand.

4. Remove the two screws from the right side of the hard drive bracket located on the right side of the hard drive using a Phillips screwdriver. Slide the bracket to the right, and then lift and remove the bracket.

5. Remove the four screws on top of the bracket connecting it to the hard drive. Lift and remove the bracket from the hard drive.

6. Insert the new hard drive in the bracket, and then replace the four screws. Place the bracket on the right side of the hard drive bay, and slide it to the left to connect it to the computer. Replace the two screws on the right side of the bracket to connect it to the computer.

7. Remove the screw from the top of the memory module cover, which is located to the left of the fan. Push the cover up a quarter of an inch, and then remove the cover. Two memory module slots will be exposed.

8. Push the retaining clips on the short sides of the module away from the module. The module will tilt upward. Carefully pull the module out of its slot, and then slide the new module into the empty slot. Push the module down to lock it into place. Repeat this step to remove the other memory module. Replace the memory module cover, and then insert the screw connecting it to the computer.

9. Slide the stand back on the bottom part of the computer and insert the four screws connecting it to the computer. Place the back cover on the computer, and then insert the two screws connecting it to the computer. Stand the monitor up and reconnect any devices that were previously connected. When you restart the computer, the upgrades will automatically be detected.
