Repair An E71 When It Can'T Be Switched On

Nokia's E71 mobile phone offers you a wide array of features common to modern phones, including the ability to send and receive text messages and browse the Internet, among other features. You may notice that your device does not turn on when you press the "Power" button on the device. The E71 may not be powering on for several reasons. For example, the battery may be dead and need a charge. You can troubleshoot power problems with your E71 once you learn how.

Instructions

1. Make sure that your battery is fully charged and not dead. Plug in the battery charger to the port on the bottom of the device. Let the phone charge for at least one hour. Additionally, make sure that the phone's SIM card is properly seated in its slot. Remove the battery and battery cover and check the SIM card seating.

2. Insert a new battery into the device if it fails to power on after charging it. Power on the device with the new battery installed. If the phone powers on, then you know that the old battery was no longer functional.

3. Perform a "soft reset" if the battery is charged and the phone will not power on. Remove the battery, wait several seconds and replace the battery. Press the "Power" button to turn on the device.

4. Perform a "hard reset" on the device. Complete this step as a last resort, as a hard reset erases all of your data, including text messages, photos and contacts stored on the phone. It restores the phone to its original factory condition. Power off the phone by pressing the "Power" button for several seconds. Press and hold *+"3" and the "Talk" button while pressing the "Power" button. The phone should boot up. Enter the default password: "12345."
