Make Calls On Google To A Mobile Phone

You can also use an external headset to chat through your Google account.

Google allows you to make and receive free phone calls to your friends and family members directly through your Gmail account. Any calls you make to cell phone or landline numbers in the U.S. and Canada are free. Google, however, charges for making international calls. When you make a phone call on your computer, Google uses your PC's speakers and microphone. Make sure your computer's speaker volume is at a comfortable level before making a phone call.

Instructions

1. Download and install the Google voice and video chat plug-in (google.com/chat/video).

2. Go to Google's Gmail page and log in to your account. If you don't have a Gmail account, you can create one for free.

3. Scroll to the "Chat" section on the left side of the page and click the "Call phone" option. The "Call" window will open on the right side of the screen.

4. Enter your friend's 10-digit cell phone number by using the number keyboard in the "Call" window.

5. Click the "Call" button. You will be able to hear your friend through your computer speakers when he answers your call.
