The Use Of Usb Headsets

USB headsets are headphones that are powered by and run through the USB port on your computer or video game system rather than through a traditional headphone port. A little different than traditional headsets, USB headsets can be used for a variety of activities.

Internet Calling

USB headsets are often made with built-in microphones attached to them as well. With a USB headset with attached microphone you can use Internet calling programs such as Skype to communicate with friends, family and coworkers online without running up phone bills.

Video Games

USB headsets can be great to have on hand for playing video games online, or in role-playing games where you may be working alongside other players to reach a common goal. USB headphones can be great for keeping your game play to yourself and USB headsets with an attached microphone can help you communicate verbally with others who are playing the game with you.

Recording Music

USB headphones can come in handy when you are recording music onto your computer's hard drive. The headphones can allow you to hear what you're recording to make sure you are capturing the desired track.

Wireless Listening

Many USB headsets require that you just plug in a small USB dongle onto your computer. That dongle then will send music wirelessly to your headphones, allowing you to listen to music without being physically connected to your computer.

Noise Canceling

Noise canceling headsets typically require power from batteries in order to perform their noise canceling duties. Since USB headsets can get power from your computer, the headsets don't require batteries in order to cancel noise.
