Unlock A Tmobile Sidekick Slide

Unlocking a cell phone will allow it to work on another network.

Like all cell phones, for the Sidekick Slide to work it must be connected to a network provider. In this case, that network is T-Mobile. The phone to work on other networks, it must be "unlocked." Unlocking the phone means removing the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card T-Mobile puts in the phone, adding a new one from the new provider and entering a code specific to the phone that will tell the phone to accept the new network.

Instructions

1. Request the phone's IMEI code by contacting customer service for T-Mobile. If you've been a customer long enough, T-Mobile may send the IMEI code, or the code identifying the specific phone, in a few days.

2. Turn off the Sidekick Slide. Remove T-Mobile's SIM card, which is located near the battery. Insert the new provider's SIM card.

3. Turn the Sidekick Slide back on. The phone will detect the new code and ask for the IMEI code. Enter the code. Now the Sidekick will operate using the new network.
