Turn On Pairing Mode For Bluetooth

Turning on Bluetooth pairing mode

Bluetooth is a short-range, wireless technology developed to help eliminate the use of physical cables for both portable and fixed-location devices. One of the most popular uses for Bluetooth technology is for connecting mobile phones with wireless headsets. Both Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones and wireless headsets need to be placed in pairing mode before a connection can be established.

Instructions

Mobile Phone

1. Navigate to the "Bluetooth" menu of your mobile phone. The feature may be located within the "Settings and Tools" or "Connections" features of the phone's menu system.

2. Turn on the mobile phone's Bluetooth feature. The feature is usually turned off by default to help extend the battery life of your phone.

3. Enable pairing mode for your phone by putting it in "Discovery" mode. This mode makes the phone visible and tells it to begin looking for other devices such as Bluetooth-enabled headsets. For some mobile phones, turning on the Bluetooth feature automatically places it in "Discovery" mode. Consult the user manual for your phone for additional assistance.

Headset

4. Press and hold the call control button of the headset for 10 seconds. Some headset models from Plantronics require this step be performed with the headset initially turned off.

5. Wait for the status indicator light on the headset to begin blinking before releasing the call control button. The blinking indicator light is to notify the user the headset is in pairing mode.

6. Pair the headset with the mobile phone while the light is blinking. For most headsets, pairing mode automatically ends after 120 seconds.
