Remove The Battery From A Motorola V557 Cell Phone

The Motorola V557 cell phone is powered by a rechargeable battery placed in the back of the phone. You may need to remove your phone's battery to replace it, to override the standard shut-off procedure if the Motorola V557 freezes and you can't shut off the phone in the normal way, or if you need to access the subscriber identity module, or SIM, card, which is inserted in the battery compartment.

Instructions

1. Turn off the phone by pressing and holding the "End" button until the phone shuts off. The "End" button is the button with the red phone handset on it, located to the right of the navigation buttons.

2. Flip the phone over so the back is facing up. The battery compartment is located on the back of the Motorola V557.

3. Press in on the battery cover release latch on the bottom of the phone and slide the battery compartment cover toward the bottom of the phone to release it from the handset. Lift the cover straight up to remove it from the phone.

4. Pull the battery out of the battery compartment.

5. Place the battery (or a new battery if you're replacing the old one) back in the phone by sliding the top of the battery into the top of the battery compartment and then pushing down on the bottom of the battery to seat it in the compartment. The front of the battery has the contacts, which should face down when inserting the battery into the compartment. Replace the battery cover to finish installing the battery.
