Use Push To Talk

Push-to-talk phones in use

Push-to-talk service allows cell phone users to connect with one another instantly without having to place calls. Push-to-talk can be used like walkie-talkies as a means of instant verbal communication for business purposes or in emergencies. They can also be used as a low-cost alternative to cell phone calls.

Instructions

1. Choose a cell phone service provider with push-to-talk service plans.

2. Select a push-to-talk service plan that fits your budget. Some carriers include unlimited push-to-talk service with select plans.

3. Identify your own push-to-talk number. Push-to-talk service uses numbers much like telephone numbers. In order to receive push-to-talk signals, other users must have your number.

4. Identify the push-to-talk number you'd like to reach.

5. Enter the push-to-talk number you would like to reach. Some phones allow you to access push-to-talk numbers from your address book or contacts list.

6. Press the push-to-talk button or select the option marked "Alert".

7. Wait for a response. Much like phone calls, someone must answer the push-to-talk alert before you can establish a connection.

8. Hold down the push-to-talk button while speaking and release it when you're finished. This allows the party you are communicating with to respond by doing the same.

9. Disconnect by pushing the "End Call" button on your handset or selecting the option marked "Done".
