Unlock Cable Cards

Your television's CableCards are the same size as a computer's microchip. These cards allow you to unscramble channels with ease. If you want access to more channels, you can use CableCards. Your cable provider may give you CableCards when upgrading your current service. To unlock them, you need to get a decoder from your cable company. A decoder is a numeric code that lets you program and access the channels. You will find that this process only takes a few minutes of your time.

Instructions

1. Contact your cable company. Ask for a decoder for your CableCards. Provide the representative with your CableCards' serial number.

2. Turn off the cable receiver. Locate the slot, which is in the front of the receiver. Push the current CableCard out of the slot.

3. Insert the new CableCard into the slot. Turn on the receiver. The receiver will automatically upload to the new card.

4. Enter the decoder, as provided by your cable company. Use the numeric keypad on your remote to enter the code. Wait for the receiver to automatically unlock and unscramble channels.
