Get The Esn Of A Phone

Locating the ESN for your cell phone is easy.

Like a fingerprint, the ESN (Electronic Serial Number) is a distinctive number specifically linked to your mobile phone through your cell phone provider. This number is required when activating a new phone or switching cell phone providers. To locate your ESN, there are a few optional places to explore.

Instructions

1. Locate the original box that held your cell phone. Find the sticker with a list of barcode numbers on the top, bottom or side of the box. The ESN is a sequence of numbers, depending on your particular cell phone, that usually precedes the letters MEID DEC.

2. Turn off your cell phone. Flip the phone over and remove the phone cover. Remove the battery and the ESN will be located on a sticker underneath the battery housing. Some cell phones have the letters MEID DEC or MEID HEX. When activating a new phone, customer service agents may request the ESN corresponding with the first set of abbreviations: MEID DEC.

3. Press the "Menu" key on your cell phone. Scroll to "Settings" or a similarly named feature. Select "Phone Information." Choose "Phone Number" or a similarly named option and, depending on your particular cell phone make and model, the ESN is usually listed in this area.
