Figure out your SIM card's unlock code with unlocking software.
One way to decipher SIM card unlock codes is by downloading unlock software. This software allows you to unlock the code for any cell phone you have. To use the software, you must obtain an International Mobility Equipment Identification (IMEI) number from your phone. This number helps your software find the unlock code (or codes), including any specialized unlocking instructions. If you still have trouble deciphering your SIM card's unlock code, contact your cell-phone provider.
Instructions
1. Dial *#06# into your phone's keypad. This gives your 15-digit IMEI number, which you will need to unlock your phone.
2. Select an unlock software. Examples include Mobile Unlocked, Rebel SIM Card and SIM Guard. Download and install the software on your computer's desktop. Restart your computer.
3. Double-click the software on your desktop to launch it. Enter your 15-digit IMEI number. Select the model and manufacturer of your cell phone.
4. Remove the protective cover from the back of your cell phone. Take out the battery and old SIM card. Insert the new SIM card into your phone. Put the protective cover back on.
5. Follow the specialized instructions for unlocking your phone. Enter the unlock code found on your software. If it is the right network, your cell phone will access the network. If not, try the next code listed on the software.
