Unlock A Nokia 6555 Cell Phone

Unlock your Nokia 6555 and switch to any carrier you want.

Cell phone carriers often lock their mobile phones to keep users loyal to the company. It is a common misconception that unlocking a phone on your own is an illegal activity. By unlocking your Nokia 6555, you will be able to use a SIM card from another carrier on your mobile device. This gives you an option to choose any carrier you want.

Instructions

1. Access a website that generates unlocking codes for Nokia phones. (See Resources)

2. Determine your cell phone's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number, which is usually found underneath the battery, by removing the back cover of the phone. Another way to find out the IMEI number is by typing in "*#06#" on your cell phone. The IMEI number looks something like "356271010217070". However, it is different for every cell phone.

3. Enter the model number, IMEI number and manufacturer (which is Nokia) in the website. You may also be required to enter your cell phone network and country. You will then be provided with a series of codes that may look something like "#pw+555 979 507 5+1#".

4. Remove the back cover of your Nokia 6555 and take out the battery. Slide out the SIM card and put the battery back inside. Now turn the phone on.

5. Enter the generated code when you see the "Insert SIM Card" message on your Nokia 6555 phone screen. Keep trying each code until see the message "Restriction off". However, keep in mind that upon entering the wrong code five times, you will not be able to unlock your phone yourself and will have to take the phone to a cell phone operator.
