Nokia 6708 Troubleshooting For Replacement Batteries

The internal lithium ion battery on a Nokia 6708 can be replaced at any time if it's no longer performing optimally, or if it's completely dead. However, replacement batteries won't perform as expected if they aren't handled correctly. Performing troubleshooting steps to solve common performance problems increases the Nokia 6708 battery capacity and lifespan.

Compatibility

Before replacing a damaged or faulty Nokia 6708 battery, make sure you're purchasing a compatible battery. Nokia 6708 works with a standard rechargeable BP-3001L battery. A fully charged battery maintains up to 275 hours on standby and up to 6 hours of talk time.

Charging

By default, replacement batteries for Nokia 6708 don't usually come charged. If the battery isn't working when you insert it into the battery slot, you must charge it for at least three hours. In addition, the new battery reaches its full performance after about two or three charging cycles. When you insert the battery into the battery slot and connect the phone to a charger, it takes a few minutes before the charging indicator comes on. When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the charger to avoid overcharging. Overcharging shortens the battery's lifespan.

Tips

With continuous usage, even the replacement battery will eventually run out of charging cycles and stop working. The replacement battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but if the talk and standby times are getting shorter and shorter, it means it's reaching its maximum charge cycle and should be replaced.

Warnings

Do not leave the replacement battery in a cold or hot place such as a closed car in the summer or winter or you risk damaging it. Extreme temperatures outside of the normal operating range decrease battery capacity and lifetime. Nokia recommends keeping the battery in optimal temperatures between 59 degrees Fahrenheit and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. If the battery is hot or cold, the phone may not work temporarily before adjusting to normal temperature. Prolonged exposure to extreme temperature, however, can ruin the battery completely.
