Disable Side Buttons On A Phone

The volume buttons on the side of a cell phone increase sound on wireless Bluetooth headsets.

People can choose to handle and carry a cell phone in any fashion that suits personal preference. They can drop the device in the pocket of their pants or in a purse. Unfortunately, owners may inadvertently press the control buttons that are built on the outside of the cell phone. These buttons commonly control the volume and playback features, such as pause, rewind and fast forward. Some buttons are more sophisticated, capable of initiating one-touch phone calls based on the last dialed number. If the side buttons on your cell phone are bothersome, most manufacturers build in functions to help you disable these keys.

Instructions

1. Press the "Menu" button on your cell-phone's keypad.

2. Press the down or right arrow key on your keypad to select "Settings." Choose "Phone Settings." Select "Security." Click on the "OK" or "Enter" button to open the security settings menu.

3. Type in the numerical locking code for your cell phone.

4. Select "Lock Phone." This locks or disables the keypad and the buttons on the side of your cell.
