1. Change your email password once every week.


2. Install a high-security virus protection program and a spyware detection program on your computer. These will alert you to any malicious software that is already on your computer, and will let you know if anything is downloaded onto your computer.


3. Log out of all browser-based email accounts when you are finished using them, and close the browsers.


4. Check your computer settings to be sure that the "Save fields" option is turned off. If it is not, the computer might be saving email addresses and passwords as you input them.


5. Always select "Never" when asked if you would like the computer to remember you, save your password or keep you logged in.

6. Call your cell phone provider and tell them that you feel someone is spying on your cell phone. Ask to have the highest amount of protection placed on your phone and your bill.


7. Ask your cell phone provider to notify you if someone asks for or acquires a list of your calls or text messages.


8. Speak on your cell phone only in places where you know no one is listening.


9. Use the "password" protection feature on your cell phone if it has one so that only you can unlock your phone to look at calls, take calls or read messages.
