Unlock A Cingular Nokia 6030

The Nokia 6030 is a mobile phone that came out in 2007. It has a basic camera and thin design. If you purchased your phone from the Cingular network, then the software came with a lock on it. This prevents you from using the phone with other service providers. This can be inconvenient and costly if you plan on using the phone while abroad. To use it with other networks, you can purchase unlock codes.

Instructions

1. Visit a website that lets you purchase Nokia unlock codes. A few that you can use are GSMLiberty, UnlockToTalk, and MrUnlock (see Resources). As of 2010, one unlock code cost around $20.

2. Dial *#06# into your phone and wait for a 15-digit code to appear. This is your international mobile equipment identification code, or IMEI. You need this to get your unlock code.

3. Go to the unlocking site and enter your IMEI number. Select Nokia as the phone and 6030 for the model. If needed, choose your mobile service provider. Enter your email and credit card information. You will be sent your unlock code in a day or two.

4. Turn your Nokia 6030 off and remove the battery. Take out the old SIM (subscriber identity module) card and replace it with one from a different cell phone provider.

5. Enter the unlock code that you receive in your email on your Nokia phone, then press the "OK" button. This will cause your phone to restart. It will beep and blink. When it comes back on, it will be unlocked.
