Unlock A Nokia 6630 Phone

The Nokia 6630 is a smartphone that came out around 2005. It was one of the first phones built for 3G networks and as such has a fast data connection with Internet capabilities. The phone comes with a bright color display, a speaker phone, MP3 player, a camera and camcorder. If you purchased the phone it probably came locked to a specific network. What this means is that if you wish to transfer to a different carrier, then you will need to get it unlocked.

Instructions

1. Type in *#06# on your phone when it is turned on. A 15-digit number should appear. This is your phone's IMEI. Write this down or leave it on the screen as you will need it later.

2. Look for a site that offers unlock codes for the Nokia 6630. A few that you can use are FoneZones, GSMLiberty and GSMUnlock (see Resources for links). As of 2010 these codes range in price from $12.99 to $29.99.

3. Choose Nokia for the make of the phone and select 6630 for the model. If necessary enter the phone service provider along with the country that it is registered in. Type in the IMEI number and click "Purchase Code."

4. Put in your credit card and PayPal details, along with a valid email address. Get your unlock code from your email. It should arrive in about 48 hours. Write down the code.

5. Turn your Nokia 6630 off and take out the battery. Replace the SIM card with one from a different mobile service provider. Put the battery back in and turn the phone back on. Your phone will ask you for the code.

6. Enter the unlock code exactly as you see them in your email. Press "OK" and wait for your phone to restart. Your phone is now unlocked.
