A TracFone is a prepaid cellular phone that allows you to purchase minutes instead of signing a long-term contract. You may think that since TracFone is a prepaid service, users don't have the option to change their phone number. However, like any other cellular carrier, TracFone has a customer service number that you can call to have your number changed for any reason.
Instructions
1. Call TracFone customer service at 800-867-7183. You will then be connected to an automated system.
2. Select your language of choice when prompted by the system.
3. Press "1" to select TracFone.
4. Press "4" for technical support. You will then be connected to a live customer service representative.
5. Give the representative the serial number for your phone. This can be found by pressing the "Menu" key, using the arrow keys to scroll down to "Prepaid" and clicking on it. A screen will open listing your serial number.
6. Give the representative your SIM card number (also listed in the "Prepaid" window).
7. Give the representative your TracFone phone number.
8. Give the representative your new zip code (if applicable).
9. Confirm that you would like to change the number, and the representative will complete the process.
