Manually Program A Blackberry Pearl From Verizon Phone

Manually Program a Blackberry Pearl From Verizon Phone

Some Verizon Wireless customers will need to activate new or replacement phones manually under certain circumstances. The procedure to activate a phone over the air is the same for the BlackBerry Pearl as it is for other Verizon Wireless handsets. Once activated, the user must also update the phone's Preferred Roaming List (PRL) so that the phone can roam outside of the local area.

Instructions

Programming the Device

1. Charge the new device per the manufacturer's recommendations. Failure to charge the BlackBerry sufficiently may result in the battery discharging before device programming is complete. If interrupted during programming, the user will need to call Verizon technical support to resolve the problem.

2. Dial *228 on the BlackBerry, then press the "Send" key. The Verizon Wireless programming voice menu will instruct the user to choose an option to continue programming.

3. Choose "Option 1" when prompted to program the new phone. The process will take several moments to complete. The voice menu will indicate when the process has completed successfully. The BlackBerry's device screen will also show a prompt indicating that programming was successful.

4. Re-dial *228 and press the "Send" key on the BlackBerry. After listening to the available prompts, choose "Option 2" to update the BlackBerry's Preferred Roaming List. This process will also take several moments to complete. The automated system will inform the user when the process is complete.
