Nokia N500 is a portable navigation device with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display and an integrated speaker for audible voice guidance. You don't have to purchase maps for this device; instead, you can get them for free from Nokia Ovi Store. To start using them, you have to unlock the maps first by updating the device. Nokia's website offers free updates for the device, after which you will be able to access the downloaded maps.
Instructions
1. Go to the Nokia 500 Auto Navigation Software Update webpage (see Resources). Scroll down the page and click "Download." Save this file on your computer's desktop.
2. Double-click the installer file and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation of the update wizard.
3. Connect your Nokia navigation device to the computer with the USB data cable.
4. Go to "Start" > "Programs" > "Nokia" > "Nokia 500 Auto Navigation Software Update Wizard." This will launch the onscreen instructions, which will complete the software update. Once the software updates, you will be able to access all the maps that are on the device.
