Fix An Active Desktop Recovery Error

Fix an Active Desktop Recovery Error

You can treat your Windows desktop as an active web page using the "Active Desktop" feature. You can take objects from previously visited web pages and insert them on the desktop to keep them updated. Sometimes you may come across an error that causes instability in the active desktop. Users are notified of this through the "Restore the Active Desktop" message. You can restore the active desktop by using the registry editor.

Instructions

1. Click the desktop's "Start" button to open the "Start" menu. Click the "Run" icon.

2. Type "regedit" into the "Run" text box and click the "OK" button. The Microsoft registry editor will open.

3. Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer," on the left-side pane of the registry editor.

4. Locate "NoActiveDesktop" in the right-side pane of application and right-click it, then select "Modify."

5. Type in the numeral "0" in the "Value Entry" section in the onscreen prompt. Click "OK" and reboot your computer system.
