Unlock V505

If you purchased a Motorola V505 directly from your cellular carrier, the phone may require you to enter a lock code before you can use a SIM card from another carrier. The unlock code is sometimes called a subsidy password code (SPC) or master subsidy lock (MSL). Once you unlock the phone, you can use the V505 on any carrier that uses the GSM network.

Instructions

1. Obtain the unlock code for your V505. You can purchase the code from a phone unlocking service, such as Foneszone, Unlock All Cellular and Mobile Unlock Solutions, or get the code from the carrier that originally sold the phone.

2. Turn off the V505 and close the flip. Turn the phone over so you are looking at the back of the bottom half.

3. Press the battery release button near the bottom edge and lift the battery off.

4. Slide back the metal clip covering the old SIM card. Lift the card out and set it aside.

5. Install the SIM card from another carrier by placing it in the depression and sliding the clip over the card. The gold contacts on the SIM card should be facing into the phone, with the cut corner on the top right.

6. Reinstall the battery and turn the phone on. The phone will display a message asking for the unlock code.

7. Type the unlock code using the phone keypad.
